Dick Nave 20th Century Fox owns the rights to all The Xmen not Marvel. Wolverine is just a Marvel Character. Marvel had to sell off a bunch of characters to companies to get money because they were bankrupt. Now ya know.
"I can't even show you the scars, for all the times I've tried to kill myself" damn that line was heavy as hell by Wolverine. Really wished they would have put that in the movie
@@umairashraf5167 i get where you're coming from, but then again, he's lived a very tough life and i wouldn't put self-destruction past him. it sounds like something he would share in an extreme moment. this is just my opinion tho, you are obviously free to have your own. as someone struggling with suicidal thoughts imagining wolverine having troubles with the same thing kind of gives me strength and courage, so i might be biased too.
Funny how before the movie cam out no one would think he would be able to play the role of wolverine, the last person you'd expect. Yet he does it almost perfectly
I would argue against that. I think he needs to be a lot more rabid. Jackman plays him like a rough cowboy. Singer is an awful director, Jackman was just Singers homoerotic version of Wolverine
***** i agree kinda BUT I think they made him the romantic lead for higher demographics(Women) wolverine origins but that's Singers fault/choice not Jackmans.
@@Lonstermash he wasn't. It was supposed to be Dougray Scott but because of his injuries in the set of Mission Impossible 2, he had to dropped out. Then Bryan Singer wanted Russell Crowe for the part but Crowe decline as he thought that the role wasn't for him. Crowe suggested Hugh and Hugh was cast few weeks before filming
i am glad hugh jackman got the wolverine role because he embodies and captures his true essence and its fascinating to me how the most humble actor in hollywood is portraying the angriest characters ever created
Nope. So hard to believe that he did NOT originally get the part. I talked about that with him during my interview with him a year ago here on my channel
It doesn't matter the audition reads, it doesn't matter how great the actor or actress- I always watch auditions and think to myself... "How the hell can they figure out the person is perfect in the part with that?" I'm not saying it's bad- not at all- but seeing so many people reading like that- with nothing else to play off of asides from someone just reading lines... like, he's definitely Wolverine/Logan- but watching this, before seeing him as Logan- I wouldn't have said "Yup! That's Wolverine!" LoL- I don't envy people who have to cast movies...
Jackman could have played any hero and be great. You name it:Superman, Batman,...or James Bond, you name it. The guy looks like a hero in real life, he probably doesn't even have to work out more than he usually does. He wakes up,drinks a little coffe, and looks the part already. His Wolverine is amazing, the best.
Jackman does not fit everything, Superman is supposed to be a pretty man, Batman is supposed to be a rich man, Captain America is supposed to be a 40s looking person and etc
and when i mean pretty, i meant like those ones from the old times where the wanted face for a man is a big butt chin, visible cheek bones, blue eyes, etc
Shave him, comb his hair 40s style, and there you go...Jackman, Jackman, Jackman...Don't tell me Jackman couldn't play Superman at the drop of a hat, because he could.
Bryan Singer: I'm putting together a team of people with special abilities. See I believe a bigger enemy is coming and.... Hugh Jackman: Stop right there, I'm in.
I think most commenters here don't get how a real audition works. This is the beginning of character development. This is also why Brian Singer makes a shitload of money by first casting the right actor's for his movies.
I love that everyone is making the "did he get the part" joke. You all know he didn't get the part originally right? Dougray Scott did but had to pull out so he got it. Just funny lol.
Hugh Jackman on Jimmy Fallon 2020: "My audition for Wolverine was 20 seconds" Everyone: "We've been watching your 10+ minute audition on RU-vid for the past 10 years".
The title is misleading. This is a reading session, not an audition. With that in mind, Hugh Jackman is doing a fantastic job with the exploration of the Wolverine character (which is what you're supposed to do in a reading; the finalized portrayal happens during rehearsal). Also, he is NAILING the American accent!
He always does great with his American accent. When I interviewed him, a lot of people told me they forgot he was an Aussie. But Wolverine is actually Canadian, lol.
Right!! Im soooo god damn pissed at him for saying he wont play Wolverine anymore >_X He is the perfect embodiment of the real life version of Wolverine. Then again, I do understand why he is quieting, BUT STILL >_
WolfFireheart don't be be pissed man he gave 17 years and like 9 films portraying Wolverine. It's sad but glad he gave us a bunch of material. He will always be wolverine.
We will all miss him, but he is smart to go out while he's still on top. Now, if only I could get an audition, lol. Check out my interview here with him
They were taking a big gamble actually... since Wolverine is supposed to be far uglier and shorter than Hugh. But after 17 years as Wolverine, I think Hugh created an on-screen legend, regardless of what the goddamn fanboys say.
Hugh Jackman IS Wolverine-his iconic portrayal has become synonymous with the character. Without him, the epic Deadpool & Wolverine movie and the iconic Ryan Reynolds-Hugh Jackman bromance wouldn't exist. Jackman defined Wolverine, and no one else could ever match his impact.
What really impressed me is Brian understands the character and the scene very well and explains them to Hugh who is also really open to understanding and changing to what he wants. (I love Hugh and he's a great actor but I just had the realization that Brian is doing really good)
it's pretty awesome seeing how different he sounds here compared to in the movie. You can hear his accent in some of these lines, but in the movie you can't even tell
Hugh Jackman was perfectly cast as Logan / Wolverine and he was perfect for the role ! 😁 I cried so hard when i watched Logan because it was the last time we will see Hugh Jackman as Logan / Wolverine and it was a fitting ending of the X-Men franchise . Its amazing how Logan has changed and progressed on his Journey from X-Men to Logan .
AMEN to that!! Otherwise we would have missed out on Hugh playing the part (and my cosplay career would have never happened, lol). I discuss that with him in my interview a year ago
Now that Daniel Craig has stepped down, Hugh would make a perfect James Bond. Also since he’s done playing Wolverine, he can be committed to a new franchise/role.
It was great that Bryan Singer took the time to give Hugh Jackman in-depth pointers into the psyche of Wolverine; probably a sign that he's already rooting for the guy to play the part. This is history, guys!
Hugh does the great improvisation using snark and in his eyes, you can see the expression of sadness that Logan does!!!! Ugh, he's AWESOME! He is THE WOLVERINE
Fabian Salak It does. For example, the actor comes in for an audition. He hasn't seen the script before. He is given the script, and has time to look it over for a few minutes. Then he is asked to perform the scene. That's called a cold reading. Google "I went in for a reading", and you will find quotes from actors describing an audition. Quote from Lana Wood: "She had called the producer and said I would be perfect for a part they were having trouble casting. I went in for a reading and got the role." Another quote: "Matt Damon's stepsister was stunned when she landed an audition for the Hollywood star's new movie - and was told she'd be playing his lover. - "Five months ago I went in for a reading for this movie Matt's in, The Adjustment Bureau. It's in production right now in New York. "It was for a character called Elise - she is basically queen bee at this ballet academy - and all of a sudden they say, 'Are you aware that if you get this role, you'll be playing Matt's love, having a love affair with your brother.'"My jaw dropped."Fortunately the sordid story ended on a positive note for the young actress: "I just read for a more appropriate role in the movie, Elise's friend, and I got the part. It's very exciting. What parents wouldn't want their children to work together."
VakieF1 I appreciate your research, but you are wrong on the matter. There is a huge difference between a reading and an audition. Both could be used to cast you, but they are not the same thing. Perhaps you should research who is making the statements before attempting to correct them. Just a little food for thought.
The role was originally written for Russell Crowe, but he wasnt able to do it. Due to another project. So he recommended Hugh Jackman. The studio didnt want to hire Hugh because he was very unknown at the time. An they instead hired Dougray Scott who wasnt as well known, but he was relatively known & that's where studio was willing to compromise. But suddenly Dougray dropped out to do MI2. So the studio went back to Hugh offering him to come & audition. He almost didnt accept because his wife at the time Deborah told him not to take the role. That his character & the plot was ridiculous. But Hugh went with his gut & took on the role & history was made.
This is ABSOLUTELY NO OFFENSE to the man....He is AMAZING at his job and I adore him as Wolvi, BUT had i not know that this was an audition, i'd probably have thought it's just a VERY pissed #HughJackman having to put up with a conversation he doesn't enjoy AT ALL :D!!!
It's not really an "audition" per se. It's more of a reading. I agree with your sentiments, though. Check out my interview with him a year ago. Coolest day of my life
@@nik123698 Apparently Hugh said yes if they would go in a grittier darker route instead of a cheesy cartoony one like before and they said you have no say in this and Hugh declined after that. Funny part is Hugh was right... years later that's what they did anyway and it took off.
THANK YOU! I´ve heard about this clip and wanted to see it a long time! He´s so beautiful it´s almost unbearable to watch him... It´s interesting to see it when we all know what a success the movies have been and what a STAR he is today!
