This is one of the best videos , give a nice representation of being sat in front of it. Good amps! Everything in a little lightweight box is awesome!

Thank you for doing this tone demo. It really showcases the tones as one would hear them standing in front of the amp and playing which many other videos are lacking.. if you have not done so, please do a video show casing the effects and features. I am really interested in hearing the sound of the effects across the different amp tones. Again, thank you for doing this video!

I thought about asking the same question 3 other people asked in the same comment section lol, but I figured I'd just tell you that those p90's actually sound good with the high gain channels. I wasn't expecting that. Overall though, I think this is one hell of an amp. Might have to get one. Thanks for the demo!

Tony Iomi played p90s on the first Sabbath records, they freakingrock. My favorite pups!

Tony Marinelli Yeah, I’ve always been a high output humbucker type of guy and I always thought of single coils and the like, weak sounding. To me though, P90’s sound like a cross between a humbucker and a single coil or a ballsier single coil pickup. I’m definitely going to consider getting maybe the Mojotone quiet coil hot p90 in the bridge and their quiet coil p90 for the neck.

+Chris Tompkins i love your ultra channel metal tone. Could you possibly share the exact settings used as I’m about to get one of these and would like to try and get that same sound. Thanks for the video 👍🏻

I'm so sorry, I've certainly overwritten that patch since this video was made. But if memory serves me... it may have been: Presence (7), Resonance (5), Sagging (4), Noise Gate (6), Treble (6), Mid (4), Bass(5), Volume (8) Gain (7) Boost (on) Thanks for watching!

Chris, I have this amp and love it. Could you please explain the SRV sound at about 17 minutes in, in more detail. Sounds amazing, but I can’t get it dialed in. I have a mess of other patches I really like, but I just wanna step on the MIDI and hear/play that SRV sound you got goin there. Sounds great bud. About as good as I’ve ever heard without all the bullshit. Tube screamer, etc.

I typically set my EQ to bass 5-6 Mid 6-7 treble 3-5 range. I'm not certain what all the settings are for that particular tone, but a lot of it, is the guitar I was playing, which is loaded with P90 pickups. I'm sorry I couldn't give you the real settings used... I simply am not certain.

did you put some kind of post EQ on audio track? your demo sounds way better than any other demos... or it's something about this guitar... i don't know, i actually started to like this amp :D

Awesome video, I see you have it in a rack, I'm thinking of buying one and putting it in the rack in my studio desk but it only has exactly 3u left in it. Will it fit snug into 3u or does it need 4u. I'm hoping 3 lol although not the end of the world if not!

Boss wins for more high gain distortion on tap. Kettner wins for overall clarity on every channel. Sounds more clear through whatever speaker its plugged in to.

I love it! Very responsive. If you pick lighter or harder, you can get cleaner or dirtier saturation of gain. It's a real "Swiss army" amp.

Chris, I have one of these. Does your make a very faint electrical sound when the power is first applied? I hear a fizz sound when I plug in the amp and the spirit tone block turns on. Once the amp is actually turned on it sounds perfect. Thank you

Yes. Mine also makes that sound. I assume that it's okay? Mine sounds great during normal operation as well.

Hey Chris! What is your opinion on the Black Spirit vs the Boss Katana head in terms of sound, feel, features etc.? Thanks!
@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear 5 лет назад
The Black spirit 200, is far more friendly to the user. Everything that can be tweaked, is accessible physically, whereas with the Katana, you need to have a computer hooked up, in order to access many of it's functions. And, the H&K tone is superior. Plus, the redbox speaker emulator is excellent! AND, you can hook it up to every kind of speaker. Guitar cab, FRFR cab, powered PA speaker etc... It might have the best noise gate I've ever used as well. The Katana has more effects, which for me personally, means nothing. H&K for the win!

Does this amp get the fizzy top end that drives me nut?. I’ve owned 2 H & K and got rid of them because of that inherent fizz.I like the floor board model.
