Y’all trippin.. for this to be 2003 , the CGI is crazy good. Certain scenes he looks actually realistic, mind you, most of the time when they’re doing CG in a day time setting it’s hard for them to capture the lighting and realism but this one went hard in the paint .. I gotta give it to em, it looks amazing

Nah the CGI in this movie makes Hulk look cartoonish. Edward Norton’s Hulk and Mark Ruffalo’s MCU Hulk (2012-2018) on the other hand was much more accurate to the comics in terms of size and behavior, the angrier he gets, the stronger he gets. He never grew to a towering 15 feet like this Hulk did. Norton’s Hulk was a standard 9 feet tall while Ruffalo’s Hulk was no more than 8 feet tall. And 8-9 feet tall was Hulk’s natural height in the comics and he remained that height in his every comic book appearance, the only part of him that was consistently increasing was his strength. Which of course increased further the angrier he got. And Norton’s Hulk and Ruffalo’s Hulk both captured that aspect of the character flawlessly.

I'm just now realizing this scene where he's observing the tree stump is them showing us how deep into depth he can see into a thing, even down to the tiny molecules. That's how strong his vision is. And he just wanted peace. But they kept trying to track him and bring him war.

@@redacted3144 Well even that would rarely lead to a fireball like explosion but rather an explosion followed by a big fast spreading fire. Of course it isn't impossible and there are things done to prevent it for a reason but in movies it is highly overused realism wise. But I just didn't expect a hulk movie to have that part like this!

Nah but it’s neck and neck with the Incredible Hulk for sure. I was a kid during both so I feel like I can say that the Incredible Hulk was better only because of the cgi and how beast like he was. Although this hulk was a lil bit of both and we got to see him jump more, he wasn’t as unstoppable as the Incredible Hulk.

Saw this when it was at the theater and it’s still my favorite Hulk movie to date. I’m also still impressed by the CGI and the realistic looking physics of the helicopters crashing and the missiles taking out part of Bryce Canyon National Park. I’m just glad they didn’t do it for real cuz I’ve always wanted to go there. Haha.

Same. Such a forgotten masterpiece. Obviously these days the CGI doesn't hold up that well but at the time it was good enough such that it was just the slightly dull boss fight at the end that let it down for me. It's the age old problem of two super things fighting each other and it becoming a bit meaningless.

I like MCU hulk but this hulk just has something the other doesn't. This hulk no only shows him being at peace when left alone but he feels much faster and more powerful then the MCU version of him. I mean the MCU one couldn't catch a human running away but this one is outpacing helicopters.

Most Avengers can outpace helicopters. They only go about 160mph at full speed. Dodging and catching missiles is much more impressive because they go at 2400 mph (Mach 2). But remember Hulk needed a special Iron Man suit to even keep up with him. And Iron Man’s original suit was far superior to fighter jets, which we learned in Top Gun Maverick, can go a leisurely Mach 6 and the missiles are much much faster.

@@illpunchyouintheface9094 This hulk is pretty much better than the others in every way. This movie captured a lot of his abilities that they just forgot in the MCU. The incredible speed and jumping, him growing up to 15 feet, even in very few scenes like the one where the guy is about to stick the needle in his eye his eye got bigger. So if a certain body part of his gets threatened he can make it bigger and more durable. Not to mention this movie remembered that hulk isn't a completely braindead meathead. He knew to jump on the jet to keep it from crashing into the bridge, he's dodging missiles which would take incredible reaction time and speed, and knew what part of the missile was explosive to bite it off and use it. Meanwhile I'm meant to take it seriously when MCU hulk can't dodge simple punches and gets completely overwhelmed which turns him into a bitch from then on out. So yeah when the guy says this hulk has something the other doesn't, it's literally everything. From a power and story standpoint.

Except for the CG on the Hulk himself, this really holds up. No jerky cam, the action is sensible within the defined space, you can follow the fight. I even spy some well done practical effects; in the landscape and helicopter crashes. If it weren't for the wobbly gummy Hulk with oversaturated skin, this might be Marvel canon.

Hulk is so strong and powerful that he doesn't even feel gravity. He can jump into orbit and he can run at 300 mph .. and while he's not as fast as Superman or The Flash. Hulk is pretty damn fast for his giant size. It's a shame that MCU has portrayed Hulk as some slow and dumb creature.

That's exactly how General Ross was in the comics. Everyone told him that Hulk wasn't a threat, Betty, Bruce, and Rick Jones all tried to convince him. Even his own officers did too, but he refused to listen. He hated the Hulk and wanted it destroyed by all means necessary because he couldn't wrap his head around it. Even after the Hulk saved him a few times from his own attacks, he still would not budge. It wasn't till after Betty left him all alone and the Hulk became an Avenger did Ross start to back off. The movies got most of it right.

1:14 I like how they take the time to depict that Ross is also heroic in his own way. Not only does he show considerarion for his men (red-lighting the hell fire missile due to it being too close to the grounded chopper), he also directly involves himself by running distraction when a lesser commander might not even be near the operation

Interesting fact, did you know that those helicopters, not the Huey, were actually real helicopters called Comanche helicopters, but they never made it into the army.

Yep, they were a concept stealth design that almost made it into production. The angles on it remind me alot of the F-22 Raptor.

Always made me wonder why they constantly attack him. This hulk can obliterate most things things people throw at him and he stood there not "hulk smashing" them until they shot first. They could've avoided so much if they had of just let him calm down and leave him alone.

Love this movie, it shows his speed and strength, something recent depictions of Hulk fail to do. Those circle runs were fast.

Beginning reminds me of the comic where Bruce is the last human, tries to kill himself but hulk says no. Eventually taking over and then hulk is alone. Hulk feels cold.

I love how they don't make him dumb and Smashy or intellinent and... Well the thing we got left today. In this film he actually thinks and has some sort of humanity and morality, but he wouldnt do math for example (like this......2020 thing) And yet he's actually damn BIG, like at least four times a regular human, hes a giant. Also they have used a space in which, unlike the previous scene, there is NOTHING to smash with. I think that's awesome cause the spectator needs to see how is he gonna make it with that disadvantage, way more interesting for the battleplot. Best Hulk with difference.
