Making videos isn't easy. Here are some of the ways I messed things up over the filming of the History of Hull: Railways series, plus some bonus mucking about between takes!
Good of you to share. It shows us it's not that easy making videos remembering all the facts, contending with interruptions and making fun of the odd brain fart, from which most of us suffer! Keep up the great work, it's highly appreciated.
After watching your recent railway Hull history video`s...this gave me a chuckle...nice to know some people out there do not take life too seriously...keep them coming!
lol well after a hard week that cheered me up and made me laugh thank you and l love your history channel so much, but loving the bloopers to so funny thanks again lol and please keep sharing the bloopers.
I know! If only the sound quality had been better and I hadn't been having to make some Beechingesque cuts to keep the running time under 40 minutes it would have certainly been kept in!
Watching all your stuff again Nerd. Not just because of this covid nonsense. Here in Western Australia the thing has pretty much passed us by. The only thing we can't do is hop on a plane and spend a couple months in Hull. Maybe later this year....
@@hullhistorynerd We keep in touch with some old friends in Thorngumbald, and my nephew in Hull, and all say it's appalling, all the restrictions. Seems to be no end in sight. I will say though that rewatching your stuff, from a time not so long ago when there was still sanity, is quite calming. Kinda reminds those watching that this won't be forever...
@@logotrikes Aye, if the govt would have just acted quickly and decisively like the Australian and NZ governments, we wouldn't be in this situation. It's like waiting for every room in the house to be on fire before deciding to do something to put it out!
@@hullhistorynerd Hi Jamie you are right about acting quickly me and my Chinese wife left Beijing for the Uk in April 2020 everybody was taking temperatures and haz chem suits at the airport. But when we arrived at Heathrow we expected checks and questions etc.But we walked straight through nothing asked or checked it was just like coming back from a holiday we were amazed.Love the outakes you are hull's Rowen atkinson
It depends, really; some are very long and visit many different sites, so there's a lot of different sets of location filming to do, which can take a few weeks to collect. Luckily I plan ahead with my episodes, so if I'm filming for another episode, but there's a location nearby for a future video, I'll go and shoot the B-roll for that there and then. Filming is often patched together and scrambled up, but luckily I organise my footage well! All in all, the big episodes like the Docks and railways ones can take two or three weeks, some even longer if the weather doesn't cooperate, whilst the shorter episodes like some of the Old Yorkshire videos can, if the flow is right, be researched and scripted in a day, and filmed and edited on another day, which is why I often put them out inbetween longer videos - it keeps my subscribers entertained while I spend time polishing the big episodes to be as good as I can make them.
