Folks are a trip saying this song is lacking Christ... Go read Philippians 2:14, James 5:9, 1 Thessalonians 5:18 then come back to the song. Folks just want rappers to hold their hand and walk them through their Bibles. Unfortunately the same thing has happened in the church on Sundays. The pastor preaches and we just take it as that and don't do any follow up research/study on our own... Keep doing ya thing for the kingdom Hulvey!

In case you need further context on the verses. Philippians and James deter us from grumbling/complaining. 1 Thessalonians reminds us to give thanks in all circumstances. The hook of the song tells the listener "Going up like a mention, I ain't no reason to be trippin, I'ma kick back and take a listen, can you tell me why you mad today" Hulvey then goes on to talk about some hard times in his life during the first verse. The 2nd verse he's talking to someone about their hard times he then goes on to tell them some of his testimony then says God spoke to him and he listened. The song is a call to remind people not to complain and wait on God's instructions. Those 3 verses highlight that

just2raw4yall it’s good that the song doesn’t contradict the word but does this song glorify Christ? From a viewers perspective you only mentioned God twice the entire song and by then the song was already half way over. It’s good to have a good beat and good lyrics and all of that but don’t lose focus of what the main goal is. I say this with all love. G.U. I see your point. I just think Christian worship should be heavily Christ exalting. If the focus is mainly on cultural correctness in order to mimic secular artists, I think you are prioritizing “fitting in” and winning the goats rather than glorifying Christ and feeding the sheep. Just because he said God once does not make this adequate material for worship. The psalms give us great material. This is modernized lyricism more than anything else. To be considered worship, I think there are exclusive biblical guidelines. You can’t just throw anything together, mention God, and call it Christian. I’m not judging his motivations. He could be sincere, just unaware.
