A lot of HFY stories will use species and settings within previous HFY stories like SCP foundation writers keeps some of the lore consistent

Those are some very well-equipped and very professional pirates. The Amia are lucky to have found such top of the line pirates. Nothing worse than falling victim to amateurs.

In the golden age of piracy, a large number of pirates were actually ex-navy and privateers that were put out of work. It's not that much of a stretch to say it could happen again in the future. Part 3 actually confirms that these pirates were all ex-military from a defeated human faction.

@iarejester in modern times this is what is happening in central and south america. Most of the drug cartels are exmilitary (I'm guessing some maybe expolice but in those countries police and military are basicly the same thing).

@@skilletpan5674 I know, and they have access to some military hardware, thanks to the military industrial complex, but not to the bigger things like tanks, warships and fighter jets.
