Issues at the Kenora Jail have sparked an investigation by the Ontario Ombudsman over human rights concerns, APTN News has learned.
Complaints about broken toilets in jail cells, better access to menstrual supplies, overcrowding, and the lack of traditional healing spaces for Indigenous female inmates top the list in the almost 100-year-old facility.

I’m glad you guys are covering things like this. You should do it for other jails and REALLY look into kid group homes and mental health facilities.

@@A.waffle they should look at all these private for profits group homes and don't let them know they are coming. I bet alot of them would be closed or shut down temporarily..

While money get shipped out of the country we in this country suffer.. Sad for these ladies and the rest of Canada for what is happening. This would not happen at the jail in brampton or Lindsay ontario

Good! Jail shouldn’t be a place you enjoy being at. Things are probably broken because they have broken them themselves. They should be working to pay their way through there too, but can’t because it not humane… total joke!

@@marianfrances4959 idk, I have a lengthy record and knowing that the next charge for me is guaranteed jail time I've been behaving and gave up my addictions. Sometimes people need to be woken up in the harshest ways. To others jail is a vacation from reality.

@@darlamacdonald4257 in modern day they are considered Stone Age people factually, how many metal arrow heads are found and put out in museums for all to see ? What was that not one single metal arrow head was EVER found to have been made or used by Indians hence they are and have always been Stone Age people never evolved into a metal age like 99% of the rest of the planet did 5000 years ago
