From what I remember of history classes, diseases started spreading in the area after the destruction of Warsaw, which honestly makes it more baffling, since not only did these people survive that, but then thought "yeah, let's remake the city", and did it in less than 80 years.

​@@Fanchen while i would tend to agree, as it is unlikely that aliens dveleop in a similar timeframe as humanity, there is atleast one type of interstellar porpulsion that we have been able to build since like the 60s. Nuclear pulsed porpulsion. So i suspect that it would not be impossible for aliens to show up with 60s era technology , though it probably way more likely that we never find aliens then that scenario
