In this video I show you how to easily remove and install new GM steering wheel radio controls the EASY WAY on my 2007 HUMMER H2. This technique also applies to all 2003 2004 2005 2006 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, 1500 2500HD, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Avalanche, and Escalade.

I damaged the steering wheel wiring connector terminal inside the steering wheel behind the bottom left set of buttons. How do I repair that? How do I get the wire to reach the back of the button? It is more difficult on the lower left pair of buttons.

Do the switches have built in bulbs? None of mine light up anymore. Do I have to change out all the switches for them to light up again?

It'd be a lot easier to just change out the switches as they are less than $20 each. You have a high probability of breaking the housings trying to take them apart and the bulbs are most likely soldering in.

If the switches don’t work is it the radio or the switches? Why did you replace yours?

Depends, if you have a factory stereo it may just be the switches. But with H2s people do a lot of dumb things to them stereo wise that can really mess them up. If you have a aftermarket radio most of those need a converter to work with the factory wheel switches. I replaced my switches because the faces of them had the paint scratched off from use that looked bad and some of the back lights no longer worked.

I have the original radio 2003 h2. No display on radio, no radio buttons work except on off. I can only change the channels on the steering wheel and volume on steering wheel which is almost impossible to make work. No lights on steering wheel buttons work. I am the original owner. I would love to put in an easy to install aftermarket radio with Bluetooth . Do you have a suggestion ?
