In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ru-vid.comUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Great video, just ordered this exact unit. Can't wait to install and hit he water. Did a lot of comparing different brands and the Birds offer the most features for the price, love the intuitive system and key layout
Good video. The contour mode under si is to take off tl what's below the boat and connect the side imaging together. This helps you see a road bed fully connected.
Without you having the 360 sonar, those areas would be hard also. Your mentioned retract mode. That's when your running the pod system mounted to a bracket on the transom. I believe another area was talking about looking left or right. You can set the limits on what you wish to scan as well. I'm looking at the helix to take over my core units. Right now I'm running the 1198 SI at the bow and 988 SI at the console networked of course. Good video over all (thumbs up).
Depth setting on SI should be much more than depth of water plus 10 feet, since most of your screen will be taken up for the water column below the boat. One video recommended 3 times the depth for scan distance on each side.
Thanks for great video . Can you please give me advice i am between axiom pro 9 inch raymarine, lowrance hds 9 carbon and humminbird helix 10 g2n or solix 10.Can you please give me advice what is the best options i will use it on the sea.
Moto_ bro_24 I believe the helix 10 comes with the upgraded transducer and we’ll as it fills out the screen better. With the helix 9 there is a black border around the screen but with the 10 the border is almost not there. You can get upgraded transducer with helix 9 but you have to mail in your old one and pay 100 something dollar to get it.
I got the Helix Mega Si G2N and had to order the cord to use the NMEA 0183. The cord doesn't come with the unit any more. I just have to plug it in and connect to my NMEA 0183 devices. I'm using a Noland Expander XP 15. Boosts the signal and R232 for my Garmin TR-1 Auto Pilot. Marine Radio doesn't need the expander but I can share the signal with other devices from the Noland Expander.
