Great information and very helpful. If you network out of the water do you always turn off the sonar?

It depends. Some guys SWEAR you have to, but a lot of times I forget, and I haven't noticed any significant degradation in performance. Now, I wouldn't leave the graph on in the garage for hours or days at a time, but 20 minutes here, an hour there - I haven't found that to be a problem. YMMV. Thanks for watching!

Question on adding 3 Humminbird Helix units to my boat and networking them. So you are saying in this video that if I purchase 1 Helix 9 Chirp Mega SI + GPS G4N unit and 2 of the way lesser expensive G3N or G4N control units I will be able to share all the info from the Helix 9 Chirp Mega SI + GPS G4N unit to the other less expensive control heads once they are networked together? Example: I buy the $1500 Hummingbird Helix 9 Chirp Mega SI + GPS G4N and two other Helix 9 control units and network them all together I will be able to display EVERYTHING from the more expensive Helix 9 Chirp Mega SI + GPS G4N unit to the other less expensive/less options control units? Also, Will I be able to do inputs like setting waypoints from all 3 screens if they are networked together? If so, thats awesome, I need to save some $$ and this would be great news!!!!!

That is correct. www.humminbird.com/support/faqs/EthernetSonarSharing on that page, click the link for helix, and there's a pdf that shows exactly what data can be shared between the various generations of product. Keep in mind that you CAN select different sources for different types of sonar - for example, on my boat, I get SI on the bow unit from my transom transducers, but DI and 2D I get from the transducer in the trolling motor. You just have to keep in mind that in that case, you should NOT mark way points on SI from the bow graph since the location will be off by the length of your boat (assuming your bow gps source is located on the bow). I know this seems a bit confusing. Perhaps I'll do another video about this once I finish getting settled into my new house. Thanks for watching. Tight lines!

This is a great idea! I just bought a boat with a gen 3 helix 10 and a gen 2 helix 7. The ethernet box is already hooked up to power, trolling motor and the 10, the 7 still has the adapter and cable in the packaging. I connected the 7 to the box but cannot "pair" the graphs. I read something about needing to use advanced settings but still need to try that. Any advice on what else to try? Also, why is it that if you're only connecting 2 graphs its as simple as connecting the cables but, when connecting 3 or more devices a power cable is needed for the ethernet box? This may be a silly question but these electronics are 10 years newer than anything I've had before.

Hey, sorry for the late response... I'm sure you get everything figured out by now, but - 10s and 7s can be difficult to get working, let alone ones from different generations. Check this page for information about the types of data that can be shared between the graphs: humminbird-help.johnsonoutdoors.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412946619799-Network-Sharing-Sonar As for why you need an ethernet box... How else would you plug multiple graphs together? They each only have one port, so you need something to split that signal.

Yeah, the ethernet box was a dumb question. It made more sense asking that question in my head.... But yes, I did figure it out. Removed the decking from the rear of the boat to the front, only to find out that the ethernet cable was not run all the way to the front graph and the front sonar was connected directly to the trolling motor. Since then, I have connected a 10 GPS, 7 and 10 msi together without any issues.
