when Steve died, Fox lost a major piece of their coverage and Vince Welch and Jamie Little could never fill his shoes, RIP Steve Brynes. also that was typicial Texas spring weather for you to rain out a race.
6:56 when Mark says “sure, man” to Steve request to come in and Steve’s laugh made me die laughing when I watched it live and every time I see it after. That HA! gets me every time!
Miss you Steve. You were one of the best and one of the nicest souls in the sport. Hope you and BP are enjoying all the interviews with Dale, Dan, Justin, Jules, and all the other souls we have lost. Heaven has one hell of a racing community
Heheh, ditto that, who better to have interviewed Smoke immediately after the Fontana race and post race altercation with J-Lo, after Stewart let off all that steam, steve burns ends with " Thank you, Tony!"
Miss seeing Steve. He was the best at what he did. He was easily likable, knew his stuff, was respected in the garage, always showed up, and boy did he love this sport. No one can replace that man.
First mistake was putting Mikey in the booth then putting Hammond on assignment. Not to be that guy but I would rather see Jeff Gordon replace DW instead of Larry Mac. But yeah, NBC is blowing them out of the water...something I bet you wouldnt have said 10 plus years ago.
I kinda miss the Hokey days of NASCAR on Fox and NBC. And while I still love the commentators, it kinda getting old. But I love the new days as well, and of course it will never be the same without Steve, Benny, and Dick. But I am one to embrace the new, so, I like both old and new. :/
Back when rainouts were fun, now half the day races on FOX cut to other coverage and night races are delayed to the next morning. Also funny timing cause of the Chicago rainouts today...
The way they used to cover rain delays was so great. Now they just throw on some "Daytona Stories" feature while the broadcasters go throwback a longneck.
These days, NASCAR wouldn't hesitate with having to postpone a race because of bad weather like the heavy rain and thunderstorms they had all of that day. Like the race at Dover earlier this season. They postponed that race right away due to rainy thunderstorms, gusty winds, and even some hail throughout the day. I think there was also a tornado warning that they put out that day, if I'm not mistaken.
I miss Steve Byrnes. I also miss how they made rain delays an actual show and how fun it use to be to watch. Now they just do reruns and take fan calls...
@2:18 I'm like who's that? I recognize that voice, but only from people recent. *Notice the 48 as Steve closes the door* OH MY GOSH THAT'S JIMMIE!!!!!!!! HAAHAHAHAHAA
