I had the 360 version. I was 9 when this game came out and I still remember the instant regret of paying $60 when I played it. I don't think I ever made it through a full race without flipping uncontrollably.
The one thing I hate about the rewind feature in the Eutechnyx game, most of the time, the game glitches and you don't finish where you actually did. For example: you finished 1st, the game says you finished 5th or last.
I remember getting NASCAR 08 on the 360 in the summer of 2008 (god, saying that makes me feel old); I graduated elementary school and got it as a parting gift. While I never completed a race, I actually loved this game. The crashes and physics were pretty groundbreaking at the time, and I had spent so many hours creating epic crashes. Good times.
I did a race in NASCAR 08 for the xbox 360 and it was really fun, using #11 Denny Hamlin to lead all 96 laps against 2 other drivers at night race Daytona. Thankfully I did not wreck because when you wreck in that version of NASCAR 08 the car seems to flip and barrel roll like 6 times every time you crash.
The huge turn off for me with 08 on the PS2 was AI rubber banding. Even on the highest difficulty i could be going 220mph at Talladega and still struggle to keep up or pull away from them. As a test i drove at like 160mph and the AI all slowed down to match my speed. Trying to lap cars is nearly impossible at times. As soon as you get close they get a speed boost. You might as well slow down so they slow down and use their draft to make up ground.
I like the idea of Medallions, but the problem with Medallions is that most of the chase plates cannot be bought by spending them. You have to master every track to unlock almost all chase plates. I can see why they did that as far as automatic pole position chase plates along with Infield fantasy tracks, but it makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE with the fantasy drivers and unlockable cars. If anything, the fantasy drivers and cars should be unlocked by spending Medallions instead of mastering 2 tracks (8 Races).
I remember getting the ps2 version on my 8th birthday I thought I liked it but I still hate it!!!! It’s a good thing I sold it years later... NASCAR thunder 2003, thunder 2004, chase for the cup, dirt to Daytona and 07 are still my favorite NASCAR games for the ps2. I still play NASCAR rumble and NASCAR unleashed... what sucks in NASCAR 08 is when you qualify and get dead freaking last!!!!!!
On ps2, does (or did) anyone else have an issue with dominating Daytona in the truck series? I have the game on the hardest difficulty and in my rookie year, I was pulling away from the entire field by 6 full seconds, yes you read that correctly, I even constantly slowed down and hitting the wall just so everyone else can catch up but I would still pull away as if drafting was just a suggestion
I had the ps2 version and had a pretty good time Not a thunder 04 good time But I liked it Then 2 years ago I got the ps3 version and played it for 5 minutes took the disk out then sold it the week after
They left in the european versions of NASCAR 08 and NASCAR 09 the Number #5 Kelloggs car of Kyle Busch out. Don't exactly why, believe it cause licensing issues.
i have this game for the 360, and i crash every single damn race, i wish the tires aren't made of plastic EDIT: i for some reason got a black flag pit on the damn restart AAAAAAAAGGGGHHHH I HATE THIS GAME
