It’s jumping at least two hundred dollars in 4 months just watch , In the back of my mind I’m planning on buying a scooter no joke , I’m probably giving up driving in the next 6 months
@@HebrewJerusalemPrince777 actually they don’t or didn’t until now. Weather has drastically changed over this past 10 years. Florida experiences some form of natural disaster every year now at the minimum. Insurance companies are businesses. Why would any business stay in a state where they lose money ? Wouldn’t you leave too if you had a business and move to a more profitable area.
@@kk4649k Great point and I do agree that the weather has drastically changed. However weather changing everywhere now. I just found out that experts are saying that tornado alley is now shifting east to others states.
Literally no one in Florida is wondering why florida insurance is either going up or pulling out of the state completely. None of us are wondering why By 2026 every floridian will be required to hold flood insurance through Citizens or one of the other remaining flood companies like Neptune in order to carry regular hazard coverage through a separate insurance company, none of us are surprised that like California with the California fair plan (stand alone fire insurance) or Texas with TWIA (Texas wind insurance association, stand alone wind and hail insurance) that Florida is looking at getting a Florida based and backed stand alone flood insurance company or they can get FEMA coverage. I know Literally zero people who live in Florida who are surprised by the insurance situation in Florida other than that it's taken this long for companies to start pulling out of the state cause they underestimated how much flood damage Florida gets annually and improperly priced their annual premiums not realizing floridians will pay the whole years premium in one go so they can't back out 😂
Wow between the high cost of living, low wages and high insurance premiums and the destructive weather that causes rampant flooding. What makes it worth living in south Florida especially?
Insurance companies shouldn’t have to take loss on these vehicles. There were flood warnings issued days before these waters arrived.. It was negligent for these owners to allow their cars to be by these flood waters. They should have parked them on high ground or garages the city opened up for people to temporarily store and park cars in to protect against this loss of property. Let the owner assume the loss on their own negligence if they knew there were flood warnings issued instead of passing the buck to others by raising everyone else’s premiums. That’s the way it should be and perhaps eventually will be 🤞🏼with increased flooding in the future.
If the policy says flooding is included when you have comprehensive coverage, then it is COVERED. An insurance policy is a contract between the insured and the insurer and cannot simply be breached at will just because "too many claims". If flooding was not covered, then many would think twice when deciding to purchase comprehensive coverage, which as you must know, is indeed way more expensive. I paid for it for years, now you cover my loss. It's as simple as that.
@@mguti090 I know full well how comprehensive insurance works as I have it on my vehicles as well. The policy also says (in the fine print you likely skimmed over) that the insurer is not responsible for gross negligence by operators. For example, if you purposely crash your car into your ex girlfriend’s car because you’re mad that she dumped you, that is not something that would be covered, even with full coverage/comprehensive. Do you understand now? Going back to my point in original post, if these people had plenty of time to safely move their vehicles out of the way, legal nuances like that should be considered before paying out millions on losses. I suspect many of those claims are FRAUDULENT because people have the duty to protect their property yet decided to leave their cars in lowest lying areas of Miami -not very cerebral. 🤔🤷🏻♂️ The only people who should be covered are people who had no clue a storm was coming and didn’t have opportunity to protect their asset. Obviously, these are questions insurance company should ask people if they want to lower their liability ans keep premiums down for the rest of us.
@@mguti090 comprehensive doesn’t = carte blanc to abuse the car and do whatever you want and then pass the buck to the insurance to cover for your negligence. Read the fine print in your policy. Insurance is very nuanced. Good luck and good day. 👍🏼👋🏼
@USDiploMike what are tou talking about? Why are you assuming everybody who got their car flooded did due to negligence? If the insurance company suspects that is the case on a individual basis then they will conduct an investigation and will deny the claim if there is evidence that is the case. I cannot speak for other people and neither can you, but I will tell you that I'm not stupid and I've had my car for 9 years and paid comprehensive coverage for those 9 years, and on Wednesday, I got my car flooded completely unintentionally. Yes. Believe it or not, regular people need to transport themselves even during rain and bad weather. Emergencies happen. If covering floods is part of the benefits of comprehensive coverage, then now PAY! Why would they cover flooding if they're going to assume you did it on purpose or due to negligence? Just don't cover ir then and expect fewer people buying that coverage accordingly. Imagine being so disconnected from reality that you expect people not driving during bad weather. 🤦
@@mguti090 no, what are you talking about? 😂 I said “The only people who should be covered are people who had no clue a storm was coming and didn't have opportunity to protect their asset.” Don’t misrepresent my position to try to bolster yours. 😂 Those who have legitimate claims should be paid. That’s not everyone though! Every case and every claim is different and needs to be scrutinized. Imagine being so disconnected and dim as to leave your car parked in a flood zone when you were told 2 days before that the whole area would be inundated. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ And then expecting everyone else to pay for your negligence. If it were a flash flood like from a dam failure and there was no warning of flooding issued in a reasonable amount of time for people to move their asset, then everyone should be covered under the flooding clause of agreement if the vehicle is indeed damaged. It’s key to realize there are different types of flooding, which you evidently do not know. In a situation like what happened days ago where it just rained for 3 days straight with government warnings being issued days before, higher scrutiny should be applied to make sure you’re not committing fraud. Nearly everyone had the opportunity to move their property and protect it from damage. Sorry bout your loss either way. 👍🏼
I think a lot of folks with car notes purposely drove into high water because they knew the insurance company would totally the car and that would get them out of the note 🤷🏾♂️
I don’t understand how homes or cars can be insured there, OH, everyone gets to pay if you have State Farm no matter where you live. My renewal reflects it.
@@johnny2100 mines $225 a month. Although I do have to carry 100/300 coverage for work. No accidents..no tickets. When I called they said it's because in SW Florida there are a lot of uninsured cars. So I have to pay double because people aren't paying nothing I guess. Now in South Florida hundreds of cars have been flooded and totalled. So I'm bracing for more increases. They are ringing out every time we make and have saved. Actually getting kinda scary..
lots of people who hate their cars and payments driving their cars into flood areas? so no one there has the weather channel or NOAA weather to watch what is coming at them, It would be hard to find anyone without an idiot device. anyone can see these storms on NOAA full disc maps for free, live pictures and use small image with 240 hour images. now you are a weather person and do not forget to put the USGS earthquakes on your tool bar along with ventusky for all of your information needs.
White americans will literally find any way to assert some sort of ego based justice whenever they see fit. It’s so weird to be blaming people headed home from work, to work, and away from the freaking flood zones for any of this. Wtf is wrong with you
This flooding is from a stalled storm, it has nothing to do with living in Florida. I will say the idiots driving into flood waters, the insurance shouldn’t cover, that’s pure stupidity.
There are a lot of "Used cars"in that group of flooded vehicles, cars that should be scrapped that will be patched and re-sold to various used car dealers......
There are people who on purpose drove cars into flood to get out of payments, we all know what kind of person that is, balling on a budget, and now our rates go up
Man, I'm getting old. I remember when making grammatical errors, like in this title, would prevent someone from even working at a news station. Now it's very common. May as well just hand it all over to A.I. at this point.
There's a lot of mean comments here. It wasn't raining in the morning of this horrible day. People went to work, the flooding started and they were just trying to get home. IT WAS A FLASH FLOOD EVENT. They didn't have any idea how bad they're attempt to drive home was going to be. I saw on the news where intersections were blocked off by police cars and the damn police wouldn't get out of their cars to help direct traffic. Even ambulances couldn't get through. I'm pretty sure a lot of people whose cars stalled out weren't doing it on purpose. Miami Dade engineers/ infrastructure have a history of not keeping up with areas that needed better drainage and fixing the problem.
Crazy how we just keep raising the values of things like cars and homes to such absurd prices and then everyone complains about the price of their insurance. Can't even imagine how bad it will be in just another 20 years.
City should be held liable for this damages. That area is known for flood issues. Even from much less rain, and the city did not solved the problem. Now because all this claimes the insurance rates will go up for everybody.
I mean, the insurance companies can handle it. You pay monthly for something that may or may never eventually happen. Imagine how much a NATIONAL insurance company makes in ONE CITY! They aren’t as big as they are for nothing
The insurance companies recognise climate change disasters are getting worse and are happening more frequently: not because they want to but because they have to!
They don’t make 3k per car towed. They don’t even earn a tiny percentage of that. AAA charges members $100 (yes, one hundred) a year for 3 tows and an array of other benefits.
Not much higher ground in South FL to begin with 😂 Like I seen Hollywood there’s no curbs it’s all flat grass. An the water is rising all around what can you do
the electric cars will fare the worst as the connections and shorting out will cause future fires and explosions of batteries. do not park in your garage when you get it back for a while just to be sure unless you do not like your house
Hydro lock happens in an instant, and totally ruins the engine. Hydro lock will bend the rods like a banana, not to mention other damages. Insurance in Florida is what will take down DeSantis. For a house, it's getting insane: 7 times the price I pay here in California. Keep denying climate change, great plan Floriduh :)
Please, politicians ruined California that’s why everyone is moving out. Same with NYC, that’s why they have all moved on to other states like Florida ,Texas ,Idaho and Vegas
You can drain the engine put in new oil, take out the spark plugs and crank the engine over to pump out the water. The computer is a different problem.
