This song is absolutely amazing and so very beautiful on different levels! Issac Hayes is a musician that hasn’t stopped influencing people 50 years later and in my book that deserves way more merit than he’s received. A true pioneer of music and I’m envious (someone hearing his music for the first time)as generations that will know his music in so many years to come!
RIP BUSHWICK BILL AND DJ READY RED TWO ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF THE GHETTO BOYS FROM THE EASTCOAST. BUSHWICK IS FROM BROOKLYN, NEW YORK AND DJ READY RED IS FROM TRENTON, NEW JERSEY
Can’t believe biggie small (one more chance original version ), geto boys( mind playing tricks) & Kodak black( transporting)covered this . This is a true monument 😊😊🎉
I cannot confirm this , but somewhere long ago in the early to mid 1970's I remember hearing an old Fleetwood Mac song that had that same kind of jazzy guitar riff or chord progression. Chef outdid himself on this one. RIP up there in guitar heaven. Issac Hayes.
@@RantePlayz If my memory is correct, it is a song called Got Me Hypnotized or Hypnotized and it was back in the early days of the group when a guy named Bob Welch was the lead singer. And it was only for a brief moment when the guitar riff sounded like anything from My Mind Is Playing Tricks On Me.
My Uncle John was a Hells Angel recently passed away... Did 19 years strait mostly in Pelican Bay... When he came home took me right under his wing at the age of 11... I'm 43 now... He did private security work for Isaac Hayes and would mention this song to me.. I love and miss you Uncle John you were my best friend... I can't (but can) wait to see you again. SUPPORT 81
I live by the sword i keep peepin around corners lookin over my shoulders my minds playin tricks to n me... I don’t know how to write in his southern drawl but you get it 😂
Another Jazz/Funk riff borrowed by Hip Hop. The original is always the best. Isaac Hayes was one of the most sampled artist by the Hip Hop & G-rap crowd.

THIS Hymee Honkee KraKKA remembers WELL "MPTOM" as perhaps the GOAT Gangsta Rap track, from around 1991. It' was Shakespearean, MacBethian, and captures Perfectly the Despair of the Reagan/Bush 41 years. Seems like half-a Lifetime ago. HECK-MORE than half. I should have met Ms. Wrong and settled Down. I was doing Residency in the Newark 'Burbs. Was in my Early Thirties. We bellyached about the Workload, but I guess it Sure Beats living in "The Bloody Fifth" ward of Houston! BUT...until I just googled it-I didn't know that This was the Old Soul Track that was sampled through that film.
