Yes, your Hungry Monkey acts as a copy of the card below, so the next player has to play a 10 or higher for it to be valid. Unless he plays a Hungry Monkey himself or a Tiny Ant, which is always valid.
No I don't think so. If the Ant is the topmost card, you take all the cards in the animal pile, except the ant you just played. So you better use the 8 with other cards.
The description sounds a lot like Hungry Monkey, I agree. I didn't know the game, so thanks for pointing that out. I heard there is another game called Palace (old game) that is also similar in several aspects. Maybe better to keep it quiet, it might affect our karma ;-)
There is some confusion with the rules I would like clarification on. At 2:15 you play an invalid card from your hand but the rules say you are not allowed to play invalid cards from your hand. That leads me to a hole in the rules of the game when the kitty has been revealed. Rules state you cannot play invalid cards from your hand. Rules also state you can only play from your face down cards when your hand is empty. If I have no valid card in my hand then I'm at a standstill.
Hi Zharick, thank you for your question. I think it is a bit confusing in the rules. The key here is: if you have to play an invalid card (because you have no other option), you have to take the whole animal pile into your hand (page 4, in the red box). So all the cards that have been played and are not on the discard pile. If the animal pile is empty (because four of the same cards have been played in a row), any card is valid. After the kitty has been revealed you can't get to a standstill: or you play a valid card, or you have to play an invalid card and as a result get the whole animal pile (including the invalid card) in your hand. Please let me know if anything is still unclear.
