Thank u for mentioning Fr. Richard and paying tribute to him. He and I were friends for 33 years and he was such a good and decent person beside being an excellent priest. He told me about u many years ago at a dinner one night and he was very proud of you and the man you became...he was loved by so many and missed even more...once again...Thank u for remembering him,
Father Richard was our Monsignor at St. Clares in Staten Island for over 8 years...He was a gift to us all! His homilies were always uplifting. Father Richard had a way of telling a story with compassion and humor. How lucky we all were to have had him in our lives....We are all saddened by this great loss. LOVE WILL ALWAYS WIN🙏♥️
Thank you for taking the time to honor to Fr. Richard. My family and I knew him well - he was assigned to our church, Holy Rosary on Staten Island, when I was 1 year old, and was our pastor for my entire childhood and young adult life. His way with words, caring demeanor, and gentle and loving personality impacted our lives so very much. He was the heart of our church, and the soul of our elementary school associated with it. He is greatly missed, and while we are hurting because of his loss, we are better for having known him. Rest in peace Father Richard. Until we meet again...
Father Richard was my priest at Holy Rosary. I received my communion and confirmation by him. He watched my sisters and I grow up as we attended that school and mass regularly. I’ll never forget those Friday masses during school and the way he talked about Jesus and god. He loved all of us so much. I’ll miss him dearly.
Hi Titiana My family loved Fr. Richard. My wife and I produced several musicals which I played Capt Von Trapp, Billy Bigelow in Carousel in the 1970s. We lived on Fenton Avenue. Phil Tropea tenor youtube.com
Father Richard was a wonderful and loving priest. Over the last 33 years, Father would talk about you in a very warm and caring way. My family and I share with you and your family the mourning of Father Richard.
Thank you for sharing your talents and others!! Harry….you’re awesome! God has blessed you with an incredible talent and beautiful nature!! Love you!!!💕
Wow Harry, I didn’t know you knew our Dear Fr.Richie! He was a friend of my whole family. He came to Staten Island back in 1987 and was Pastor of our Parish Holy Rosary where My sister Mary was the soprano singer in the choir. He served mass at all our happy and sad occasions. We continued a close friendship after he was moved to St. Clares’s also on the island. I saw him every Sunday at mass where I was a parishioner there up till 2017. He went out of his way to visit my sister Mary at Eger’s nursing home. We know he’s in heaven. He’ll be missed💕
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story of our Father Richard. When he shared his story of having met you, it was easy to see the love he had for you. He was very loved and touched the hearts of so many of us.
Harry, Thank you for sharing the wonderful tribute to Fr Richie! He was an incredible man and I was lucky to call him uncle Richie because he was my godfather. Although I hadn’t seen him in a few years I have some wonderful memories of him. He touched so many lives and was taken way to early. I had been meaning to go and see him for a while now and if I have taken anything away, it’s don’t let life get in the way of the important things. Thanks Harry for sharing your story and memories of him. He really was a rockstar!
I remember learning about your friendship many years ago. He loved you too. Fr. Richard was a wonderful priest and human being. I was also lucky to have known him. He was the pastor at my church, Holy Rosary, and I was an altar sever. I loved listening to his homilies. They were thought provoking and inspiring. We will miss him dearly. Rest in peace Msgr Richard.

Dear Mr. Connick Thank you so very much for Honoring Msgr. Richard from St. Clare's. This Students and Staff loved their Pastor very Much. I Personally knew Msgr. Richard from working with his schools and covering many Masses with him as the Schools Videographer producing their Yearbooks and Videos for their Sacraments. God Bless Stay Well and Healthy From Michael Leto SI NY

That was a beautiful tribute to Fr. Richard! His legacy is etched in the places he served especially here on Staten Island. He wasn't just a priest - he was a really good man!
Fr. Richard married my husband & I also at Holy Rosary Church in the Bronx in 1976. He was a wonderful amazing priest & a great man & friend! May he RIP!
Fr. Richie was my godfather and a part of my family for over 47 years. He was the absolute best and still can’t believe he’s gone. Anyone who knew him was truly blessed.
Hi Harry, I'm Brigit R. I was a parishioner of Monsignor Richard Guastella. He was pastor 2008-2020 at St Clare's church parish in Staten Island, NY. His homilies were the best and heartfelt. I'm sorry he passed. I know he is resting with our Lord in heaven. It is so great that he helped you with work. I only came to know how much he did at Holy Rosary parish. I didn't realize he helped so many. He was always a blessed man. I told him I was praying for him and St Clare's church. May he rest in peace always. Eternal rest grant to him and may the Perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed through the Mercy of God rest in peace 🙏🙏 🙏
I was the one who facebooked one of your daughters to let u know what was going on. I was very close with Fr Richard and your dinners at Italianinissimo. Tragic loss. He was one in a million
It is so easy to get attached to the best priests and nuns that are in our lives because they are usually so loving. My sympathies! I see you are like everyone else that is missing their hairstylist but still you are looking good Harry!
What wonderful, sweet memories. I was Fr. Richard's organist after he left your church in Manhattan and settled in South Beach, Staten Island. A great man who cared about people and cared about liturgical music being sure to send me to workshops and seminars so I get it right. He will be missed!
From one practicing Catholic to another.....Priests are the best friends to have. Thank you for sharing your story about Fr. Richard. I have enjoyed your videos!

Although the episode is 2020 Easter and now It’s 2021, we Need the Fortifying *All The More*. , and like we say at end of Mass, Peace Be With You. Tina-Marie Toulouse
Sincere sympathy for your loss of your dear friend. You've lost two now and that is so sad. This pandamic has seen a lot of faith shared and you are a big part of that. How Great Thou Art is my favirite hymn along with Ave Maria. God Bless you Harry for talking about your Catholic faith. I am also aCatholic and am blessed to have been born into a Catholic family that was very active in the Church. My faith makes me feel safe and loved.
I agree that we will come out of this better. I have loved seeing all of the neat things that people are doing from their homes. I also love seeing your face again. I loved you on The Harry Show, but even more on Idol.
I’m sending my condolences to you and your family. I didn’t know Fr. Richard personally, but he was the pastor of the church where I grew up, St Clare, literally right around the block. He worked closely with Deacon Rich and his wife, Marcella, who are like my second set of parents. Many friends are still a part of that community. My mother also knew him from Holy Rosary. Like 9/11 x 10 or 100, I think we are all figuring out how we are or were touched by many great people in our lives. Thank you for sharing this tribute. I heard Cardinal Dolan will preside over his funeral on Tuesday which will obviously be limited. Deacon Rich asked us at noon to say an Our Father, a Hail Mary, and a Glory be in thanksgiving for Fr. Richard and the gift of his Priesthood. God bless to all. Don’t lose hope and be kinder to other than you normally would.
Mr. Connick, I discovered you as a teen in the 90’s. You and Wynton were my gateways into jazz. I could sing every solo on Blue Light Red Light. I watched that weird animated Turtle video off Star Turtle all the time. Soon after I dove into the well of the Black Americans who inspired your music, and it literally changed the course of my whole life. You’re the real deal, and your heart is in the right place. You have a massive platform, and I know you’re using it for Covid stuff lately, and that’s beautiful and important, but we really need your voice to explicitly advocate for Black people right now. I know you’ve elevated the careers of so many Black musicians and helped so many people to love the music, and you’ve funneled money to various charities, but your followers need to know exactly where you stand on this. They need to know that you support actual policies that help the people whose music made you a worldwide star. And you’ll anger a lot of them, because there are a looooot of conservative white folks who love you, but the fact is you’re not just an entertainer. You can’t keep telling yourself that. Whether you meant to or not, you and all of us started making sociopolitical statements the minute we decided to make money and fame off of Black music. Sure, you did a lot of work yourself, but we’ve all got a lot of debts to pay. People of Color could really use your voice. It’ll be rough, but I think you’ll be glad in the end. You’ll still have a career on the other side, and your family will admire you all the more for your bravery. Do what’s right. Speak up. BLM✊🏼
Man I'm so sorry for your loss of Father Richard you and your family have lost 2 close friends now. I wish you and all your girl's a Happy Easter and wish you the best.
Sorry for the loss of Father Richard. I was raised in the Catholic Church as well. I know the impact our clergy can have on us and I am sure he impacted many lives. In the late 80’s I attended Dominican College in NY and remember the impact the nuns had on me, my education , my introduction to volunteer work.
Thank you for sharing faith and caring for people in your surroundings including admirers of your type of music and conversation (internet friendly)Also thank
Richard was my classmate and friend for 56 years...we traveled the world together...and he was so looking forward to retirement in 2 years. We are all heartbroken. RIP to a wonderful priest...New York has lost one of the best.
I thank God for you Harry and your family. We need more like you, as a Catholic. As a Christian, we need your faith to be shared with people in America. Hope you can partner with other Bible believing family and friends to promote life and life with God, Jesus our Savior.
My sincere condolences to you Harry and to your wife Jill. Highest regards from rural Mississippi, anxious to get back to NOLA! To have a biegnet, play chess with Jude Acers, visit the little sandwich shop on Ursalines, take a boat ride, stay at the Westin, visit the WWII Museum, I could go on and on! Stay safe!
Harry, let me be the first to admit, I'd never heard of Fr. Richard but am sorry someone you knew and loved has passed away. On a lighter note, I just came here to say Whazzup!!! You da man Harry! Keep up your great heart ❣️
I am so sorry about your friend; if you know Jesus and your friend knew Jesus, you will see one another again...won't that be a great and glorious day?! Lean into God's love and comfort as He completely understands what you are feeling. Blessings to you and your family.
