Hunting Small Game is as important as hunting big game. The small meals in between the big kills are a skill worth perfecting. Small targets can be tougher to hit.

You show all the reality of the hunt without sugar-coating at all. This will be difficult watching for some, but we are a meat eating species and you hunt responsibly, albeit with primitive tools.

I enjoy hunting cause it uses a whole different part of my brain. Its like if you moved to a different countey where you didnt speak the language and didnt take any language classes, just learned by emersion. When it clicks in and you realize you can understand everyone, its like wham! Im in new england, and tracking white tail deer on snow is amazing, following fresh tracks and when you first get good enough that the tracks start getting fresher as you watch, thats a big rush. Because hunting is this big mental thing for me, its sort of the opposite of bureaucracy, so i try to set it up so that i have to think about modern stuff as little as possible. Im a meat hunter not a trophy hunter, so i dont mind hunting does, but i get the antlerless deer tag so that i can hunt deer, and not be worrying if its a legal buck, not cause i dont understand we need hunting regulations, we totally do with the human population what it is, but mainly i do it just cause part of the draw of hunting is to think about things like regulations, as little as possible. Anyone else feel like that?

thank you for sticking with that blood trail and not just blowing it off and leaving that pig to suffer,i have seen that so many times where hunters(0r so called hunters)will just give up on a wounded animal and leave it to suffer and die slowly

Do you ever use blunted stone points for small game? I was having this conversation about hafted scrapers or blunted points as artifacts and whether they would have used them vs just using a wooden shaft. I would be interested on your thoughts on it, from a practical experimental archaeological view.

Man people are gonna send you tons of hate because people don’t realize animals twitch and make noises for about 15 minutes maybe more we had hog hit it barley nicked it’s lung and tore the heart out but the guy grabbed it and when he did it pushed air out he dropped it and started running because he thought it was still alive I’ve seen a deer run 50 yards on its nose and when it was cleaned it’s heart was in pieces every bit of blood in that deer was at the first 25 yards both sides were like buckets and i mean it the blood was pooling and after that 25 yards nothing the deer was right in front of us but no blood for the next 25 yards i couldn’t believe it and i seen it so people who know nothing about hunting will never believe you because it still twitched a little they will say it was suffering
@doktorkoka

When a living thing is running around with an arrow in it's side it's clearly suffering. Not everything dies with the first shot instantly. Death is suffering itself, but some suffer so much before death, it's a hypocrisy to impose an idea that being hunted doesn't bring suffering. But that's not my point. We have the right and we are to decide to take life away, but why would you do that? Why hunting cats and dogs is banned and not considered normal? If you kill a dog you're a criminal, innit? Why? Would you hunt a horse? They eat cats and dogs in some countries. They have horse meat everywhere in Mongolia and the whole steppe region. Those things would be find disturbing by most white people *I suppose*. It's just a perspective, some tribes hunted men and that was normal to them. I find this disturbing, because we are violent species, but the beauty of civilized man in controlling that, not letting it loose. Still, good job, I wouldn't be mad to survive within a post-apocalyptic tribe with this man. And, damn, what about this absence of commas, this alone speaks volumes.

@stephenballard3759
@stephenballard3759 Год назад
On one hand it's pretty easy to learn to shoot a bow if you have reasonable coordination, motivation, and a decent bow and arrows set up. I have taught lots of guys to shoot reasonably well (hit a paper plate at 20 yards) in an afternoon. However, consistency and real, tight accuracy, can take lots of dedicated practice. Trad and primitive archery can be a life-long pursuit,and funny enough, Instinctive shooting is one of the most difficult disciplines in archery.. It actually takes the most dedicated and thoughtful practice, and repeated driilling up front. Lots of work on your stance, your grip, your shoulder positioning, draw, anchor, your string hand grip, your release and your follow through come first . Kind of like basketball basics. You do lots of set shooting and layups, before you do spinning, fade away jump shots. It's also not the only way tp shoot a stickbow. There are MANY ways to shoot a bow. A lot of the small game hunting is done at really close, almost pointing ranges. So you don't have to be a great shot at thirty five and forty yards. The consequences of missing are just an educated rabbit. Shots tend to either be fatal hits, or misses, unlike larger game, where missing vitals = gut or leg shots. More people should definitely do more small game hunting with bows. Have fun! Join a couple of forums lite Stickbow.com, primitivearcher.com, etc. and you'll find people willing to help.
@SAS-R2
@SAS-R2 Год назад
@@stephenballard3759 yeah I did tried this instinctive archery and I stop doing it for a month and boom the accuracy is gone ... And it took a week to regain the accuracy I had before..... I still love instinctive shooting... I think I should start shooting small games like rodents and ground bird to be really accurate Like you said it is one of the hardest discipline to master. I really appreciate your thoughts on instinctive archery

Thank goodness, we live in a God given part of the world called the United States. This allows us freedom to choose whether or not to hunt. Whether it’s a hobby or a way to supplement your yearly food supply is no matter. So go to the store if you want commercial meat full of antibiotics that was raised in horrid conditions, but many would rather be responsible for the meat they hunt or raise on their own small farms. Either way, it’s none of your business.
