Hunter Guild Drop Rates & Pity System (Varlamore OSRS) 

I've tested the pity system for red chins: For the last 3 tasks I got the fur on the 96th catch. I think either the 94 is incorrect or there are more factors to the dry protection. Hunter lvl 81, 3/4 outfit worn

Can confirm that the butterfly tasks have a pity timer of 143.

Pity system appears to be 2x the droprate of the rare part, minus the hunter outfit buff, then rounded down. Hunters outfit also seems to have a rounding error where the base catch increase rate isn't exactly 5%, but a decimal number slightly higher than 5% - this makes it so whole numbers get rounded down by 1 extra. To get this 1 fewer animal you have to catch, the pity system droprate has to be divisible by 20 since that's the only way you can get a whole number not including the rounding error. So this would only apply to chinchompas, falcon and bird tasks, but not the other tasks. This was buried in a comment chain, but I've parsed more mechanics of the pity system and parts! It's possible (condor figured it out) to forcespawn extra rare parts with a full inventory (besides whatever you get from the creature). You can, if you're fast enough, turn in a task and rush back to pick up a 2nd part (or even a 3rd if they're close by and you're really lucky). This extra part WILL work for your new rumour, if it's for the same creature (or they're both kebbits), letting you breeze past that rumor! Buuuuut, the game is aware of whether you have a rare part in your inventory and will refuse to give you another, even of a different kind. I tested this with a kebbit tuft in inventory at chins, went over the pity timer by 20 or so, destroyed the kebbit part, and immediately hit the pity system as shown by receiving a series of 4 chin parts in a row after destroying them. So this can be used, with either back-to-back rumors turned on and/or 2 kebbits in a row, to immediately solve your next rumor. However, you can't keep it in your inventory AND do a new rumor. I have not tested the exact despawn timer of the part, so if it does what random events do for whatever reason and lasts forever you could potentially keep it on the ground and use it later if you get another of the relevant task.

Getting to master tasks should be much more consistent now which is nice. Also after knowing the drop rates I realize how extremely lucky I was. I got my full set at 66 rumors and the pet at 106(most of those were adept)

My prayers were heard! I was so annoyed when, on day 3 I had a deadfall task and it toke about 250-300 successful traps before i had the needed item.

I have not unlocked box traps yet, should I or would it be more beneficial to stay away from longer tasks like chins?

if you know you're 1 kc before threshold on whichever task, can you fill your inventory so the rare part drops to the ground and farm a bunch of them?
