Hey thank you for the video. I may of missed it but did you talk about Survival vs Marksmen. For example I think I remember Survival being better dps at first and then we repec MM around TOC when more armor pen was available on gear. Or am I totally wrong and survival and MM were pretty much even the whole time or were even only part of the time if you know what i mean.
Lock n load spec pvp and pve. Made so many mm hunters mad haha. Then cata ruined it and every expansion after. Kill shots hitting for 50k haha. That cheeky frost trap 3 proc 🙊🙊
I remember doing 25 ToC on my BM hunter. We had 2 pugs (one MM and one SV) that kept insisting I swap to a better spec cuz "BM is garbage dps". Forgot to get ammo before the raid so I was running low, swapped into Aspect of the Beast, used Serpent Sting, Arcane Shot, and ran into melee to conserve ammo. Still did more dps than both of them and immediately got more ammo after the first boss. That was the power and versatility that BM had. With the announcement of Wrath Classic, I want to relive the Hunter experience, and I fully intend to make an alt with a melee meme spec in honor of that very memorable encounter.
Nice guide. You forgot one thing, though, why you definitely want to main BM hunter in WotLK Classic: Loque'nahak, who casts MOONFIRE (Spirit Strike) in its original (pre-Cataclysm) version! ^^
Playing on warnane for years, I've witnessed that hunters are a pretty straightforward good dps with some special assignments in raids (Tranq shot usage, kite) but where their true potential lies is in PvP. The class is very hard to master in pvp, but when you do, your dominance is indisputable and the fun of gameplay is infinite. P. S. Engineering is a must have on hunter.
@@BuddyTheGermanShepherd MM is the go to spec for pvp and pve, BM is good for leveling but it falls behind later with end game gear and it doesn't scale with gear that good. SV is fun but MM still beats it with the introduction of armor penetration.
Playing on Warmane right now and I hate MM/SV compared to BM, sure they do more damage but showing off that you don't need to be MM to beat someone is the best feeling
@@haunzonchen8108 Both are good. Stoneskin is a strong racial but so is Shadowmeld. I personally always choose Night Elf look wise. And Shadowmeld is very useful as a deflection of any spell cast on you (for example death coil, chaos bolt, lava burst, HoJ, etc..). In the end its just personal preference.
@@flockajames5353 right now in vanilla/tbc, hunters will delay their auto shot timer if they cast a casted shot (steady, aimed, multi) so you have to time it where it doesnt delay it beyond its normal shot timer to get optimal dps. i for one enjoy this playstyle. in wrath you can just spam cast shots and auto shot will happen regardless, but it still waits if you start moving until you stop
@@NK-xh3bl they just blue posted to confirm that melee weave is gone in wrath. the ranged and melee swing timer now share a cd so you cant weave them. you will use a melee weapon for stats but not to do raptor strike/mongoose bite. you may weave in traps instead of black arrow as survival, but people are still testing it
That's it I'm rolling hunter with skinning and herbalism on fresh servers release, great video! What about pet variety though, is there a ton of choice? I know that undeads there isn't many of them outside of TBC content, but I hope there's plenty of cool and exotic beasts and not only 3-5 meta ones.
I've never played wow back in its prime days because I had a potato for a pc and I didn't start until wod (I know what a sad time to start wow that was). I'm currently playing though tbc classic and having a blast but something feels like it's missing. Having seen the pet talent tree in this video got me super excited for this quality of life change coming in wrath classic. I'm also excited to not have to worry about having to scale my pets up by leveling them up to be useful after taming them and teaching them new skills through the trainer. I really feel like this is the right change for hunters in wrath and is a natural direction of progression of the game when it comes to this class and quality of life changes. I always hear of how popular wrath was back in the day and now I kind of understand being a part of the hype train myself.
I straight up loved my BM hunter during wrath. The trick was was runningn Aspect of the beast and gemming all attack power until they took that aspect out of the game. Was the most fun I ever had doing PVE. PVP with a good friend was the best but BM PVE hunter was next.
It's pretty unfortunate that BM goes from god tier in TBC to basically a meme spec for PvE in WotLK :( SV will likely be our go-to early on, swapping to MM once more ArP is available. MM in PvP is insane now, so that should be fun :D
@@slothenthusiast49 Yeah I'll be SV early on but I'm definitely gonna switch to MM once we start getting more ArP. SV doesn't fall too far behind until like ToC/ICC so most hunters can play either one up to that point, since Blood DKs and Enh Shams give the same buff as MM. BM Hunter sadly joins Frost Mage and Sub Rogue as the meme PvE specs for WotLK though.
@@ANTERIORcs Yeah it's very repetitive, but I don't mind it. Pumping out big dps is fun regardless of class/spec. SV is a lot of fun in WotLK and so is MM, especially for PvP with Disengage, Master's Call and separate trap cds. I'm super excited to not be competing with 4-5 other classes for gear in WotLK...if I had to complain about 1 thing for TBC, itemization would be my choice lol
Really??? No way! I enjoyed BM so much early on... My hunter pick in 2019 was based on taiming pets to play with a lil' personal friend. Guess it's time to try something new... What about Cataclysm? Does BM go well there?
If we would atleast get a toggle for the updated animations I would reroll female belf this second. It "only took blizz 10+ years" to update it. Which was a hot topic for a long time and many said it looked so wrong, aweful and even buggy to some extent. Since it's just some client side thing and will not effect anyone else but yourself seeing that toggled animation, I don't see why not. We alreay got the improved gfx toggle in classic and basicly running a downgraded BFA/retail server anyway. As for this "no changes!" crap, if ppl still think we're playing oldschool tbc with all the changes like 2 weeks prepatch, 58 boosts, mount etc...ppl really should wake up.
Im gonna do troll, their racial gives % crit with bows, skinning in wotlk adds another % and if u do skinning u are also prob doing LW which can craft u fletcher gloves early game that add another ranged crit. berserker skill gives same % haste now so u no longer need to be low hp to get most out of it. Orc i would say is better for pvp and it's nice to have stun resistance, a buff taht gives raw AP for a burst combo/ opener and pet damage is always nice as a bonus either way both looks good as female models but i like trolls better aesthetically. The male models never did it for me with he hunchbacks and the over exaggerated huge orc shoulders
@@Doudou8321 they are very useful for a lot of things. Even in raids you can distracting shot to keep spawning adds off healers, bring them to the tank. Or even taunt off a low hp tank with your pet or distracting shot. Pet dies, but takes a hit or two for the tank to get healed. And if you distracting shot you FD after a second to put it back on the tank.
I know now what Im going to play in late TBC and during Woltk. HUNTER ! My first class, I want revenge, I want the T10 I couldnt get 15 years ago cause I was a fatass teen Im coming Woltk !
So we have a lot of recommendations for classes for lich king but everything is awesome, then nothing is awesome. What classes in truth are not recommended and you would be gimping yourself vs everyone else if you picked it? Let's not repeat the mistake of Holy Pallies in TBC where they suffered on the parsing compared to the other healers with AoE heals. We need a video on classes to avoid if you want to parse.
Fair point. I'd say it depends on the raid tier and class specialization. I made a dps tier list by raid video that shows how one class/spec is good early in naxx, but then not as good later in ICC as better gear makes other class/specs stronger. IMO, affliction warlock is pretty consistently good in wrath, and mages/rogues as long as you are flexible and willing to respec as needed.
Healing parses are a joke, though. Don't know why anyone would care about them. Holy paladins aren't bad, but you only need one. They're good in long fights due to their high mana retention and extra buff+judgement slots, plus more BoP and stuns.
@@vane909090 agreed. Parses are a useful metric but not absolute. There are important jobs that need doing in raids and whoever does them probably wont parse well. Hpal is brought for tank healing, not for jerking off to warcraftlogs
