Yeah, it's understandable to assume Gon is stronger. But you've got to remember Bisky's qualifier -- *physical* strength. Killua's been moving tons (of big-ass gate at least) since he was 3 or whatever. And while Gon's done much to catch up, Killua should still have the edge for a while, especially since he isn't slacking in training either. And yeah, I've always loved how clear and simple the Nen fundamentals are -- it's a major part of what makes it feel like such a solid system. And those basics wouldn't seem so simple if it weren't for how clearly Togashi explained them. He's pretty awesome at explaining stuff, using nice logical progressions and everything.
The Bomber stuff is famously a weaker part of the storyline, you're not the only one thinking that. But it's relative of course. I don't enjoy it as much as the rest of the series, but I do enjoy it. It's just that every other arc antagonist is much better. Mostly Hisoka and Illumi in the first (and Hisoka for the third arc), the Zoldyck family and butlers in the second arc, the troupe, etc... The Boomers shares a place with the three stooges in Heaven's Arena as weakest villains. "I'm sure Togashi has taken inspiration from that" Oh this is not the last you've seen of Togashi taking inspiration from Toriyama. In term of physical strength, Killua vastly outmatches Gon. You might think the opposite because of shonen tropes (protagonist punches hard in shonen xD) as well as Gon's enhancer status, but remember that before they learned nen, Gon could only push 4 tons, he wasn't even as strong as Leolio who can push 8 tons (although the anime fucked that up), while Killua could push 16 fricking tons. A 4 times strength difference doesn't disappear overnight, especially since they didn't train physical strength at all in Heaven's Arena, and not much during York New either. Greed Island is the first time since the Zoldyck estate where their training appears to target both Nen and physical strength (no way their digging through an entire canyon doesn't affect their strength xD) You can also see it when they get captured by the troupe. Killua manage to escape Phinks' grasp through sheer power even though Phinks is an enhancer and in term of physical strength he's the second strongest in the entire troupe (after Uvoguin. So basically now he's the strongest). So yeah, Killua is waaay stronger than Gon physically. It's been pretty consistent throughout the manga. Gon still punches harder thanks to Nen enhancement as well as his natural ability to focus his power but if they armed-wrestled without Nen, Killua would crush Gon. "Some of these |techniques] I've seen before" Yes, you've mentioned Hisoka using Shu, but Kurapika uses a lot of them (you can for example see him using Ko against a captured Uvoguin) which gives us a greater insight into how he managed to be strong enough to fight the troupe (even with his OP min-maxed abilities, it wouldn't be enough if his basic stats were too low. But Kurapika as opposed to Gon and Killua, already trained "Ken" "Ryu" and "Ko" before York New). Uvoguin's big bang impact is his Ko too.
good job to bring up Phinks and how Killua broke out of his grips. that's a feat not many can achieve. to not lose your limbs under Phink's hand is no jokes. Killua's been trained since birth. it's established from the moment Killua appeared that he is quite advanced compare to Gon, in terms of agility, speed, strength, analytical and deductive abilities ( which his old profession required) and Gon's always had that stubbornness, recklessness, impulsiveness, crude raw unpolished talents... and all that entails. Gon is primitive and Killua is more refined. even Greed Island is still only an introduction of Nen. this whole series has also been an introduction.... but without this basic, solid, fundamental understanding, one cannot comprehend the multifaceted system that is introduced later in the manga. what i love about HxH is that Togashi is like an anthropologist, everything connects. every detail count. he took a long time to set everything up.... every pay off means something indelible.
Rare occurrence where the film buff actually forgot some contexts. Remember the testing gates? Gon w/ kurapika and leorio barely managed to open 1 gate, while Killua single handedly opened 3 with ease.
"ore wa boma" So freaking relaxed while he's dropping this ... bomb 🥁bada bing but seriously so laid-back Love Genthru for that. May not be everyone's favourite villain but he's good in my book.

it's awesome how just now we get the explanation for these techniques but we've seen hints of them being used before so is not something out of the blue.
Hopefully everything is all good on your private life, I notice the late uploads. Don’t push yourself to hard to get your reactions up. I don’t watch your other shows that you are reacting to but don’t push to hard to get these hxh reactions up. I know some of your viewers are dying for doctor who and monster, we hxh fans can wait a whole year for an upload and we wouldn’t care, we know how things can get crazy in life.
not gonna say too much, but the majority of the hxh fandom doesn't really care for the bomber storyline either, so don't feel bad for not bein too interested in it lol
Hey Filmbuff, I don't know if you've mentioned it before, but do you have an idea of when you'll be doing the AoT finale? I don't mind waiting if we get some super 3 hour long discussion or something, I'm just curious what your plans are for that. I'm also curious why you didn't watch all the other OVA's? Unless I'm missing something, it seems you only did No Regrets and Ilse's notebook. Those are definitely the most important ones, but I feel the lost girls especially are worth watching, lost girls 3 in particular before the finale. Edit: Also, I think it would be incredible if you recorded a re-watch of the series. You are by far the most observant reactor on RU-vid, but man, this show is incredible on a rewatch. So many details. Maybe, a cut down version of the episode, showing highlights of things you missed.
