When i first played halo the hunters scared the shit out of me

Pretty sure everyone here remembers their first encounter with a hunter ^^. One of the mot frightening and tense moments of gaming I've ever had.

I used to watch this when I was 5 years old. Im glad to see people back here

Hahahahhaha yea remember the good old days when I was a kid and seen the hunter for the first time and i was like oh shit kept firing my machine gun at the front to to be honest some of my bullets was connecting and some just deflated off the hunter ahhh good times man good times

This was very informative. Thank you. The first time I learnt that was in reach legendary difficulty. I ran out of ammo, and I just side-stepped them, and punched them to death. Now every time I play any Halo game on legendary, I do that for the added difficulty, and I don't try to get something between the other hunter and the one I am punching to death :D ( extremely difficult, and it will get you killed, but after you kill them both, you are just... see for yourself :D)

@Osand317 Yeah, once you have the timing, that's another great way to take them out with a pistol or a sniper, that I probably should have shown. While I did mention the gut shot in the beginning and there are a couple stomach shots in the walkthrough, I don't think I ever went over the timing. So, thanks for mentioning it. The difference with the move demonstrated is that the opening is a little larger and available slightly longer and works with all weapons, but the gut shot is quicker.

@shadowflick No, grenades don't do enough damage on legendary, so it ends up taking too long and too many grenades to be worthwhile against hunters.

Really? One shot kill to back? I always spent 10 minutes killing Hunter with empty rocket launcher :) Still pressing X, and trying to avoid contact... yeah, played whole campaign lót of times, and still dont know that YOU CAN FUCKIN KILL HIM WITH ONE SHOT TO BACK..

Ah the good old days, where the pistol actually did damage and the plasma pistol could be charged indefinitely.

omg i remember playing this,SOOOO MUCH,the 3rd level was always my favorite and they made you the same height as the hunters.Another way to play around is to just keep dodging their hits,me and my friends call it ole :P :)

At 2:48 -- 3:13 I would have had the Hunters already engaged with Marines I dropped off previously from the beach. This allows you to not only make use of the left over Marines at the beach, but it also enables even easier windows of opportunities to get off those two shots. Besides, it's pretty cool seeing a Marine VS. Hunter battle, hehe. Sometimes when you're driving back, you can hear the sounds of battle above you and Marine bodies flying overhead. Good times. 5/5

Love how you play, you make them seem really easy, you make the whole legendary thing look easy, I just plain brute forced my way through the entire game, no brain work :X

After seeing that you can kill a Hunter with one shot from the Pistol, I can hear by say that the Pistol is the best weapon ever xD

Wow. I'm not exactly a Halo n00b, but I never actually figured out about sniping the Hunters from behind. I always either nail 'em from a distance or drop 'em with gutshots, though I tend to try and keep the leather necks alive so I usually rush into combat and get flanked, even on Heroic when I'm being more cautious. Thanks for the tips, as always!

for the first sniper one, if you are looking directly where they come down, they wont come down until you look away, NOTE this only works with the Hunters

Strange though it may sound, you can greatly increase the effectiveness of the plasma pistol on the Hunters by melee attacking them when they rush past you. It you aim for the head, they'll usually take some damage, and it is EXTREMLY handy inside tight spaces where the magnum isn't handy, like aboard the Pillar of Autumn. I have actually been backed into a corner by a Hunter and survived only by melee attacking the Hunter to death. Granted this was on Normal, but I imagine the priniciple holds.

I never seen anyone who knows this trick so I'm going to share it here. When a hunter is running towards you, you could melee it's shield and if you done it correctly, you would hear nearly no sound from your melee.It would take a few melee's to kill a hunter, though one shot from the pistol/sniper rifle on the back is still the best.

In TSC right when you enter the door that was previously locked, turn right, you see you can't continue because there's no bridge or something, when you turn around, you can jump down to an overshield, you wil lget damage, but you get the overshield, and you skipped a bunch of the level, then make your way down, and back up

Thanks for the lesson Forum, in my case, Hunters are quite easy and fun to kill.

you could do that... or, wait for them to turn, and stick a plasma grinade on the back, then try to lead it near the other one, not only do you wesken it, but you have a sec to figure out another way

@ChiefandSamus In that case, run at them whilst shooting with an assault rifle. Jump over them before you're in their range so you don't get hit by the shield. Shoot them in the neck as you jump over and then in the back as you land behind them. It's pretty fun.

Or you can back up while they swing at you and shoot at the stomach in the middle of their melee. Advantages of that maneuver include reduced risk of getting hit and it being easier to execute.

man. i'm in 2020 at the end of that large split hangar scene on truth and reconciliation, and i just CANNOT get past the hunters, for the life of me :(

This strategy works but it's kinda tough to get the timing and accuracy. It's easier to stand in front of them and when they start their melee backpedal. It will miss you and then their arm will swing up leaving their stomach wide open.

sometimes if u have a pistol or sniper it can be easier if when you are backing away from them when the charge, instead of dodging to the side you get them in the stomache. When they run towards you just keep ure aim on where their stomache is, when the lift their shield to beat you just fire. Just need to be careful that your out of range of their melee, but i find it easier and quicker then dodging.

actually, the easiest way is to run up to them, let them raise their shields, and when they're raising their shields, their stomachs are wide open to any shots, so shoot that spot with the pistol. much easier than having to side-step to the back

At 2:26 I hide behind a block things and (if they don`t see you) wait and shoot for the neck, but yours works 10 yimes as better.

Have you tried dodging to the right? I think the shield sticks out less on that side. Also, have you tried crouch jumping over them as a little trick, just popped into my head as I was watching the video(I'll try it). You should also make a video of useless tricks that are funny in SP and MP.

actually hunters are a colony of worms called lekegolo and group together in armor to make the hunter and if the colony gets to big it splits into another hunter creating bond brothers and also they were discovered on their home planet Te and they fed on the forerunner structures and the covenant got mads and then they got into war and the hunters won most of the ground battles but the covenant had ship so the hunters joined the covenant also called taming of the hunters and im a hunter hunter

@dog5244 yeah, just shoot the orange part and he's dead, no matter how small your weapon is (but don't count on the assault rifle doing anything at all.)

love the video and all but you made one wrong mistake, there "orange flesh" is the lekgolo worms grounded up in the armor.

Yeah the movements don't change on legendary it's like heroic if u play it just right. :) You can totally do it with 2 it;s not hard just get one to follow u away from its partner and you can focus on just that one. Support is probably just a few jackals I kill those with the magnum before I ever engage the hunters.

it doesn't matter if it's overcharged or not, you hit them with your fists.

It is possible. You very likely hit the neck, but sometimes it's hard to see, especially if you're sniping.

I just punch em , and I show how to do it in a few vids , saves ya ammo I actually didn’t know you could one shot em in the back with a pistol

In Halo ce anniversary, the whole front and the neck are completely covered up so you have to go from behind.

In halo 2, when they approach, I fire at their stomach with the plasma rifle. When they come close, I jump over them, draw my energy sword, and slash at their back.

omg, before I watch this video, I always use 2 minutes to deal with hunters. can not believe such a tough creature die so fast.

This is a good stategy. I usually stick one hunter then jump over the other and shoot him in the back.

Still my favourite of the entire Halo series. It's the only one that had pure creation and design that enveloped the player, rather than throwing them into battle again and again or distracting them from the poor plot lines with cheap tricks (Cough armour lock cough cough)

never know about the instant kill part well then again I took it the wrong way and I thought you could only melee them

@Maverickdude97 Well when I play Halo 2 I think it's easy, just stick 'em with a plasma and they'll jump around, then you kill it with a battle rifle or something.I'm not sure about Halo 3 and ODST because I don't have them.

Does it make any difference if you have full, little or no needles left in your Needler when you melee the Hunter?

hm in halo one the hunters dident die just by one shot in the back.last time i checked but things change i guess

When doing the the melee I find it better to wait for there giant back piece to finish going up then melee.

For the plasma pistol u hold the power the shoot the hunter on the back 5 times.Itsalso quicker.

i just use a rocket launcher because theres almost always a rocket launcher before a pair of hunters, or flood to make them dance around.

i remember shotting a hunter with a pistol once and being utterly confused on how he died so easy

man in halo 2 they got ride of the one shot kill with the pistol and sniper rifle that made the pistol the worst weapon in the game and made hunters the feared creatures that they should be

If you know the game well enough you will reserve a weapon specifically for taking out hunters

i tried meleeing the 1 elite it mustve glitched because he whipped around and saw me
