Elder Dragons are always awesome, but man Nerg is just built DIFFERENT; HUGE hulking frame, intimidating horns and spikes, a savage and unstoppable nature, it's design alone earns it a top spot but oh no no no-that's not all: every Elder is basically just a living natural disaster but Nerg? It *EATS* NATURAL DISASTERS. It is the dragon sheriff keeping the balance of nature and forget just Monster Hunter, that is some of the absolute most BADASS creature lore in fiction.

The credits of Iceborne has the Admiral postulate a theory that Nergigante is nature's attempt at being a "white blood cell" for the ecosystem, a monster that hungers for "exotic" meals/anomalies that wreck havoc to nature If that is true, then nature has... failed at making a proper one. In the end, it's the Hunter that puts down Xeno Jiiva. It's the hunter that has to weaken Shara Ishvalda for Ruiner Nergigante to kill steal And I genuinely love that. I hope he comes back in Wilds

I am happy that Nergigante made it to the top three. He was probably my favorite elder dragon and flagship monster aside from Malzeno. And what else I love about him is that there is no elemental shenanigans like there were with most elder dragons; that he is just a power house and relies on his brute strength. So good job spikey boi.

I didn't vote for it (had to go with my WWE thunder doge) but Nergigante is my favorite elder because of the parallels with hunters, even down to its spike growth mechanic being similar to weapon sharpening

Nergigante is one of my favourite bosses in not just Monster Hunter, but gaming as a whole. His fight, his lore, his designs - it’s all amazing. Fighting him changes you from simple Hunter to Sapphire Star. You’ve gotta be as aggressive as he is, master his move set like the back of your hand. He’s difficult, but far from impossible. There’s no gimmicks, no elemental attacks. Just raw ferocity & overwhelming strength. Seeing him rag doll other Elders in Turf Wars was something else. Ruiner Nergigante might not be the most flashy variant but it elevates the already awesome fight to new heights. The spectacle may not be Safi’jiiva or Fatalis level but seeing him crash down with the black spike dive bomb is still terrifying. True testament to Capcom’s creativity. So let’s give some love to Nergigante - Eater of Elders, Extinction Dragon & Destruction incarnate.

Personally, I don't see the love for Nergi. He's just not that interesting of a monster. He reminds me of some edgy dragon a 7 year old kid would make up. It's just baffling to me how popular he is. He doesn't do anything interesting, and his fight is far from the most engaging fight I've been in. I can't really say I've ever actively gone out of my way to hunt him 'for fun', whereas many other monsters I'd be like, 'yeah, I kinda wanna go fight this monster now.' I still ended up hunting like 70+ of him for his crowns for the 100% achievements in World/Iceborne, but once I got the crowns, never fought him again.

This is due to westernization of MH with World and all the new fans latching onto what they know. Plus edgelords love him. I don't think Nerg deserves this high of a spot.

I'm sorry but I hate this guy. How df do you grow spikes back in a hot minute? Are they like shark teeth? He just has rows of infinite spikes below the skin?? I demand realism in my fantasy monster hunting simulator.

Tbh this list is pretty good but no.2? He has good design and cool fight but this is just undeserved literally any gen 5 including one from rise is way better than him or at least way more creative. People complain about magnamalo a lot but he at least he have cool reason for it like it head crest and armblade are use for mating and intimation and hellfire come from monster that it digest and it can be see randomly shot out hellfire to vent out unnecessary hellfire to prevent random explosions but nergi? Literally a elder killer and let hype it up so hard so people would think that it can 1v1 and kill strong elder like shagaru ,amatsu or dalamadur etc. and let make it reproduction asexually using it spike and make people think it can clone itself infinitely and fight black dragon. Yeah definitely not over the top(I like it but it not touching top 20 or 10 for me

Worst monster in MH. Everyone complains about the spikes in Frontier... how ironic. Undeserving of #2, Valstrax or Gore wipe the floor with this one
