Nergigante has paws like cats, no thumbs. I'm 99% certain Capcom used cats as reference for how those forelimbs work. Next time you take one down go look at it's forelimbs, you can even see the distinct cat paw and paw pads and independent toes match a cats.

I figured ruiner was just knock out conscious, but if he did in fact played dead, he knew that shara was in the area but didn’t know exactly where he was, during the fight we had with him he decided to play dead to draw him out but didn’t expect he’d be buried alive and spent the whole time either digging his way out or waiting for an opportune moment to attack.

@therighttrousers343
@therighttrousers343 3 года назад
Yeah, to me that implies somewhat that it can sense through the mushrooms since it can detect you while its eyes are covered. I think sporepuffs still work though, and presumably smoke bombs too, and also ghillie mantle, so I would say that the spores on black veil do detect photo-sensitively rather than detecting like Gore Magala, because of that ghillie mantle being specifically a way to hide visually. Another thought is that Vaal Hazak might have evolved specifically to deal with the low light conditions of the Rotten Vale, but Blackveil rather than evolving the eyes to deal with a higher light environment, takes an evolutionary shortcut by simply blocking out the high-light environment with mushrooms.

I'm brand new to the Monster Hunter fandom, I joined with the release of Monster Hunter Stories 2 (as turn-based RPGs are more my thing and I don't have the quick reaction time necessary for the punishing main series), and I am simply blown away by the complexity of this world's biology. Every monster is carefully developed, taking inspiration from real-world biology, which makes the zoology nerd in me VERY happy. I've spent hours in MHS2 carefully documenting (like, in a notebook!) how each monster behaves. This is a much more developed world than Pokemon, the "fantasy monster" series I've loved since I was a child. We don't get very much on Pokemon other than their Pokedex entries and the moves that they learn, and if we're lucky some extra lore from the anime. But the monsters in MH are painstakingly constructed with both the biggest and smallest biological and fantastical details in mind. Even if I won't ever be able to play the main series with my handicap of poor reaction time, I think I'm here to stay. And yes, Nergigante is one of my favorite monsters. Its ridiculous regenerative capabilities, colossal strength, hunger for life force, and the way it seems to reproduce by just spreading its own cells rather than breeding kinda makes me think of Jenova (and those enhanced with her genome) from Final Fantasy VII. (then again I just love Jenova and her horrifying cell manipulation stuff so maybe I just like to compare freaky monsters to her). Thank you for this lore video by the way, I now have a better understanding of why the Nergigante in Stories 2 acted the way it did. I thought it was just drawn to fight Oltura because it sensed it was a threat to the ecosystem, but the realization that it probably wanted to EAT Oltura is WAY cooler. I wonder what would have happened if it had been strong enough to do so.

Love the new content! That regenerating horned dragon concept art is bizarre and creepy. I like it, but it doesn't feel like Monster Hunter at all. The final Nergigante we got is really well-designed. Nerg feels so much like a bear or big cat in how it looks and moves, which emphasizes its status as a predator of Elder Dragons.

The thing that always struck me most about nergigante Is that for some reason it always seemed more human than any of the other monsters. Even the ape ones. It feels less like you're hunting a monster That's just following instincts, and more like you're in a street fight, throwing down with some really pissed off dude that really hates you personally and wants you dead.

Here’s a tip to fight nergigante on your assigned quest. Bring mega barrel bomb, flash pods and 10 mega potions. (Demondrug/armorskin) 1) Try not to aim for the horns and it’s spiked legs as swords can’t pierce through them. 2) Aim for the belly or tails 3) When he moves to the area that’s full of crystal, aim for the crystals that’s on top to deal 800+ damage due to boulder smash 4) He’ll be on rage mode after he‘s awaken from his sleep, be very cautious 5) Spam your dodge button when he’s lock on to you (You’ll notice it when he’s looking to your direction) it’ll mostly be flying at a high speed and fly directly into you which is a one hit KO move. Run away from your original position and spam dodge. 6) Throw flash pods when he’s on mid air or when he’s limping away. When he’s blinded, deal as many damage as possible. So it’ll be easier to finish him after he’s awoken. 7) Place as many Large/Mega barrel bomb on his horns when he’s sleeping (Might break his horns and it’s rare to get those items, can be used to create rarity 8 weapons) 8) It’s better to have a bow hunter on your team to shatter his horns and tails 9) DO NOT attack his back when he’s playing possum when he fell down (Not due to after a mount) 10) Have an insect glaive hunter too for easier mount. If he’s down from mounting, this is the part where he’ll be the most vulnerable I hope that this tips help, I’ve fought nergigante for 20 over times and this is the most efficient tips I can give.

I just killed him today for the first time. Carted twice but pulled through on the last stretch. Yeah figured the underbelly and tail strat, along with flashpods, managed to lop off his tail. Was also using CB and I'm still learning to fight with it properly, axe mode pulled through twice for a knockdown. Got a lucky mount at the start of the fight aswell, also managed to avoid his divebomb completely once, took damage the other time xD Was running Zorah gear with the Zorah CB, Palico had Pukei weapon that came in handy in poisoning and slowing down Nergi. Tough fight, frustrating to avoid getting pushed around and stunned xD

Please keep this series. It could be one of the longer series of videos on the channel and if the rest of the videos are as in depth as this one, I'm sure they will become very popular in the community as all your other videos do

I have a thought on how nergi launches his thorns, when he fires them he does it after an attack, which means that his paws are shock absorbent and the energy from smashing his arms or head into the ground goes up to the thorns and causes them to fly out with concussive force.

Just to mark one thing (in case if you forgot or didn't even thought) Nergigante has an Etmology in his name. When we first craft Nergigante weapons, the name "Nergal" appears. Nergal, in sumerian myth, is the god of death and war and the one who rules over the underworld. While "Gigante" refers to the portuguese word "Giant" probably a reference of his class as an Elder Dragon, since, as monsters who control the various forces of nature, elder dragons could be considered giants or titans that passed through the land way before the rise of new beings. Therefore, cutting the "gal" in "Nergal", we have Ner-gigante, or simply "Death-giant", thus giving the thing the title of "The Extinction Dragon", a giant who brings death to all, no matter who it may be.

Nergigante's spike doesn't actually have to be all harden before doing the dive bomb. If you pay attention, some parts without any long spike will be forcefully grow and harden before the attack(Pay attention to Nergigante's head at 5:15), the start up roar is Nergigante using the bio energy to the spikes so they can grow and harden, but only for a short period of time. Also, it's AT LEAST 1800 spikes.

From what I understood about Nergigante during the story, he's some kind of antibody to the new world when something abnormal happens, like when Zora changed it's route, young Safi waking up or when it sensed Shara. He always goes in a killing spree to prepare to what upsets the balance.
@angellara7040
@angellara7040 3 года назад
That's not what happens in a literal sense. Nerg goes after large source of energy so it can reproduce hints why it was looking for zora and later shara. It helping is just the side effect of its hunger
