Best comic channel on RU-vid. Doesn’t get caught up in anything going on in the comic world, just collects books and talks about his collection and travels. I won’t even watch anyone else anymore. Keep ‘em coming!
I agree get tired of comic tom and the rest of the circus . I do watch there stuff but there channels are influencing the market and driving prices weather its intentional are not.
@@technodestructo I completely agree. There are other RU-vidrs that aren’t like them but their content still talks about the market, and other drama filled items that I don’t care to hear about. Just show me your collection, videos of you hunting, the fun stuff!
I believe there’s too many speculator channels out there and not enough of those who truly enjoy the hobby and that’s what I find here. I always get excited when I see a notification from here :)
I agree with you, Tristan! This is my first time here, AND I SUBSCRIBED. I enjoy this style of comic book collecting video. This is done by a man who has a good family and truly enjoys the hobby like Captain sTrangelife. Great channel.
wwwwooowww... what a fantastic selection to choose from. And some of those comic books looked like in great condition. they even had some Blackhawk. mannnn....!
The music with you flipping through books was certainly the most zen meets nostalgia moment ever on your channel, but with a tinge of melancholy. haha! Probably because I'm hear answering four million emails everyday while you're out there living the good life hunting comics! Keep it up! More like this.
Good grief, that was like going to a comic book convention. How awesome. Hope you can go back in the near future and have some more time to go through more comics.
Hi Mike, keep including the walking music in your videos, very relaxing. I'm also glad you took us through the whole store, not just straight to the comics, as I like to see what these stores sell (man, stuffed foxes and fish on timber plaques are popular!). You chose your comics well: I too like the green background to the cover of the Marvel Team-Up issue; Bobbi Morse's first appearance is in Astonishing Tales #6 (1971). Tomb Of Dracula issues have been at somewhat premium prices for years, definitely a desirable title. Silver Banshee scares me too, one of the few characters I honestly find disturbing. A live-action SB appearance would great though. Daredevil #43 is an in-demand comic due to the Cap appearance. Your son will be thrilled by the X-Men issue, very thoughtful of you Mike. Which reminds me, I must start dropping hints to the family about what I'd like for Christmas. All in all, another great video - it's so good to see a comics fan who buys to read and collect, so many of these videos are only about selling at a profit and the comics are just a commodity.
by the way, CHARLIE....GOT GREAT NEWS for you, Charlie. You want a see a scary and tough appearance of Silver Banshee live? go watch Supergirl season one on streaming. She is bad ass and that scream....when she screams in the show, her face actually gets scarier and mean, like some sort of bad ghost.
I could spend days going through all the comics in those two antique stores. And that comic book shop looks awesome. Great pulls there. Really nice books.
Another great video! I love to see it when you go into shops and flea markets. CGC and spec videos take the fun out of the hobby...that being said, I wish the area where I live had awesome flea markets like where you are. Keep up the great work!
Just discovered your channel. What a haul!! I have a good friend who lives in Melrose MA so I’ll have to head over to Putnam the next time I’m up to visit him. Glad I discovered your channel.
I’m very happy you found it! I made the comic channel I wanted to see, probably for the same reasons you dislike some of those others. I hope you enjoy!
Really love your channel. This is the one channel that doesn't give me FOMO everytime I watch it. I feel you just genuinely like adding these Gems to your collection as a proud owner. I own that Daredevil 43 too. Got it many years ago when I was just happy to add silver age books to my PC. Probably paid less than 10 for it. 1st DD and Cap battle. Great content!
This is the third video I’ve watched. It just popped up last night. We were getting storms during the night and I brought up RU-vid on my tv. I love your channel. Everyone’s comments are spot on. I enjoy watching your enjoyment of comics. It’s fun seeing you get excited and enjoying the fun of the hunt. I also enjoyed that you showed everything in the antique stores and fleas markets. It felt like we were really there. Keep up the great work.
Truly fun vid and likin that merch you show off cuz they intrigue which I enjoy since I make book trailers for some comics on channel so I always got an eye out for different stories which you nicely reveal w/ some good notes for buyers. I'm an X-Men fan and have been debating which other story to do since I did one in the past, and you gave some good ideas so thanks!
WOW that town looks amazing, I will have to check it out. My wife loves traveling around and checking out places so might be able to make a day of it with the family.
yeah, Like "M.O.N. Comics" said, youhave the best approach to showing your collected comics. you show then talk about your comics and your travels. Pure, unadulterated comic book collecting fun and genre. I subbed.
Going through older episodes, that Daredevil is one of my all time favorites. Captain America vol 1 # 341 was one of my first issues of Cap and an homage to it.
that was a fun video. I was just at those shops back in september with some friends and always have a great time there. Looks like you had a great time and the vendors stocked some new books there. My fav recent pickup there was marvel premiere 28
I'm so mad lol, why can't my places be more like that. Great haul and Love that Daredevil cover it's amazing. Saw some Batmans in there that I would definitely be interested in getting for sure.
Nice pick ups for sure. Those particular shops etc are like holy moly, do I have at least a whole day and about 2 or $3000 . Very cool to say the least. 😎👍
Wow. Those flea markets had allot of books. If the grades were high l might have paid some of those prices. Love the journey! Saw many keys with those vendors
Nice pick ups. I work about 15-20 minutes away from Putnum and on days when I can get out of work early I usually head over there to check out what I can find. I have been going to those 3 places for over 3 years now. I always find good deals. Wonderland is a great store with awesome owners. I remember finding Batman Beyond 25 (the foil cover) at Antiques marketplace for $2. Found Avengers Forever 1 Kang variant at Jeremiah's for $3. And wonderland always has great sales throughout the year. Nice job highlighting this small town. If I was a better youtuber I could have done this. LMAO. Awesome video, great christmas gift for your son. Maybe one day will run into each other. Have a good day.
Holy cow! Wonderful little town with some way cool pickups. 😀 Good on ya for the X-Men/Cyclops 45 issue for your son. X-Men are my favorite, too. Thanks much, LMC!
Wow! Another great video! I definitely think you got a lot of bang for your buck! Great pick ups! I was also looking forward to seeing you get some delicious donuts! 🍩😂
This is my neck of the woods. Putnam is ten minutes from me. I’ve been hitting these shops for years. You also have about five great comic shops within an hour of there in CT and Massachusetts
Definitely need to do a good handful of videos there and one with jack in the box😋Loved the slabbed Predator comic at the start of the video. When you put that Shi book aside I thought you'd buy it🍪 definitely good to see more of your underated DC comic appreciation thrown. Never saw Crocs original look. More DC for sure.
Someone recommended your channel to me, it's great to see someone else making videos that just does it for the love of collecting. Love the video! I made a note about Putnam, holy cow that looks like a comic mecca
Dude!! I knew you were going to love and be overwhelmed there all at once! I'm stoked you had some great days there! I have had good luck at that corner booth over at Jeremiah's myself. Wonderland Comics is also a great LCS....BUT.... I know of a better one (in my opinion at least) over in Worcester called That's Entertainment. I would say that is the Mecca of LCS's in Central Massachusetts and definitely worth a trip to check out.
Thank you so much for the recommendations! Putnam was amazing. I still haven’t made it to Wonderland. It definitely on my list next time I’m in the area.
That DD #43 definite ace cover and great idea for those long gone days of colorful in yr face approach. Nowadays most comic covers are too dull in visual color presentation.😎
At first I thought this was gonna be another one of those videos where someone picks up piles of vintage comics for a song and a dance!!!! 😣I feel a little better now! 😃
First time watching your channel, i think its great! I live in NY, and find CT is great for antique hunting. So many little spots and antique malls. I typically stay towards the southern part of CT. I fill my car every time I visit.
Great video great books! Killer finds you got this week awesome! Any Jack Kirby cover is awesome to me. I have quite a few myself. I don't have that one yet though LOL
That was you! That was when I was there the second time with my family and my wife couldn’t stop laughing that someone recognized me from across the street. You should’ve stopped and said hi!
Great finds. Usually at markets like that the books are WAY overpriced, but these didn't look too-too bad based on some of those conditions. Those Marvel Premieres with the Brunner art are something to feast your eyes on!
Love all 3 of those stores. I have a small booth at Antiques Marketplace and recently sold my entire collection to Steve from JandScollectibles who has the large display at Jeremiah's.
Awesome pickups! I just got that Uncanny X-Men #45 a couple weeks ago right before Thanks Giving, very cool! P.S. didn't know I needed Folk Guitar music in my life Lol
I can't believe first meetups are now key issues. That means that every new character created is going to have tons of so-called key issues as they meet existing characters
Really liked the walking journey through the stores. Had to rewind & pause a few times to really take in the large # of keys shown. Have to say Antique sellers knew book significance and priced accordingly to FMV with some above. Wouldn't be surprise if the LCS next door helped a few sellers. Regardless, liked your grabs esp the Dr. S/Drac and the DD/CA covers. I also try to hunt similar "iconic" duo cvr books. Good vid 😃 👍
Love the DD #43 pick! I bought a similar copy as a kid in the mid 80s for 4 or 5 bucks just because the cover was so damn cool. Didn't have much of a budget back then but it was a pure impulse buy.
New to USA collecting. Very fascinated by your managing of time and cash (I would not get out of those boxes till I thoroughly check every one of them).
I’m definitely not great at it! But I guess I’m still pretty frugal when it comes to buying stuff in general. And yes, time wise I just have to tell myself to stop and that I can’t look at everything.
Great video WOW! That town looks beautiful and a great place to visit. If not possibly live in. I live in Wisconsin. Been here most of my life except the years I spent in the Marines globe trotting. I always wanted to be a superhero as a kid like Capt.A or Spider-Man. I guess the closest I could get in the real world. Was to be a US Marine. LOL Have you ever checked out Rom Spaceknight? I saw you found a Rom #1 Newsstand edition when you were going through those comics in the locked display case I believe. Great series to read. It first came out ten days before my 18th birthday. But thought it was really well written by Bill Mantlo and mostly drawn by Sal Buscema. In it's 75 issue run and four annuals from Sept 11th 1979- #75 Nov 5th, 1985. I believe four guest appearances in other titles too. Besides just his head appearing on your West Coast Avengers #1 limited series and a Avengers new line issue like #226? The Dire Wraiths appeared in the X-Men #187 & #188. the FF and I believe two issues of the Avengers #244 & #245 I believe. Really enjoy your videos.
I found your Channel the other day and watched all your vids in a day what a awesome Channel and I love it even more knowing you love nightcrawler too awesome keep it up man
I recently picked up the same Daredevil book. I would have bought ALL the Daredevil books from that shop. You can't beat that price. Really nice pick ups!
In the boxes they were more or less organized by title but you could tell they had been messed up by the public. So the answer is yes, they were both organized and a free for all depending on the vendor and if the books were out in the open as opposed to behind a case.
