You are extremly fortunate to have a site like that. We folks near the Calvert cliffs in Maryland have to work extremly hard to get half of what you got. Never complain about anything.
I love the colors on those teeth! Awesome site! I went diving in Venice on Saturday, but sadly I did not have luck finding megs that day. A few other divers found some frags, and one person found a 2"er, but it was pretty barren. I need a good Gulf storm before i go diving there next time ;) Happy Hunting!
Man I need to find me a nice spot like you got because them were for nominal even the broken pieces are still phenomenal in coloration!!! Just Awesome finds bro!!!
I would not have wanted to go swimming back in those days . Y'all are finding some beautiful teeth . We don't have any much more than an inch and a half long . I know everybody says it but I would love to come over and hunt with you guys .
This is a great video and an awesome site. But I wonder why so many of the tooth hunters flip the teeth from front to back so quickly and never show the side angle of the tooth with their different curves and thicknesses? I think this is a pretty good view that most of you guys miss.....
Niko Karau there are shark teeth in Germany. I have some that I traded from another collector. They are from Eckelsheim but I don't know more than that. Maybe you can do some research and figure out where and go find some?
Hey man, you interested in taking me out sometime. Born and raised in Summerville. Let me know, I'd stay out the way, just looking to get into it bc my son loves it. (We've been to the canal in Summerville a couple times....no big teeth)
I hate to say you might’ve missed one but I only noticed it after watching this vid for like the 5th time but at 8:07 right at the tip or your middle finger is the perfect root to a good looking angie. I could be wrong but throughout the whole clip of the angie and the vert you can see it in the bottom left right behind a small rock.
you might be right I miss stuff all the time. I remember that spot and the gravel was all weird shaped. A lot of U shaped and other curvy rocks for some reason.
Where at in Summerville? I collect Sharks teeth. Please let me know. I know this video is late. But I'm single and looking for some spare time to find some teeth. Thanks. Great video. I live in Moncks Corner. So, Summerville is convenient for me.
blackriverfossils i went to the place you told me and we didn't find anything so we went down the road under a bridge and found a lot, i found 2 1 and half inch teeth, 2 fish jaws 2 great white, some bulls and 2 i don't no,there bubbly at the top and needle like at the bottom
TheDubstepGamer696 there is a creek at the corner of trolley road and dorchester road next to the pawn shop shopping center. you can find teeth in there at low tide, but don't bring any tools. digging is against the law. just look in the gravel on the bottom and the teeth will be mixed in there.
I live right down the road in downtown Charleston. Would you please mind sharing like a business this location was close too? Or like what this site transformed into today? I’ve been creek collecting but would love to land hunt.
can i have some tips on where to look here in summerville I've went down a few creeks in sangaree and one down on beacons bridge rd but I've only found one small tooth i really want to learn what to look for when trying to find a sight
if you found a tooth then you were in the right general area. tip for creek collecting - go after a heavy rain as soon as the water is clear enough to see for a chance to find bigger / better stuff.
Jaiden Gillespie there are fossils in New Zealand, I'm sure of it. I read a paper written about a set of associated angustidens shark teeth from there. I would be surprised if there were not plenty more things to be found there, too.
can people out of state go looking there and find stuff like u did or do u work there im a bit confused but im always looking for new places to hunt and this is on my list if u could give me info on this location that would be great. thanx
Can you.. find shark teeth in.. Israel? Man I can't I always see these videos and just feel like going out to the beach and finding teeth but in Israel (especially in herzliya) there aren't many sharks... Could you please help me and maybe tell me where shark teeth may actually be? I appreciate it, thank you!
+Swade Corley Venice Beach is the shark tooth capital of the world. They wash up on the beach there. Casperson is better but its just south so you'll find lots of little teeth either place.
+blackriverfossils other shark teeth like great white shark teeth tiger shark teeth that was on shark teeth bull shark teeth hammerhead shark teeth I'm going to start T to some different sharks at the Daytona Beach or New Smyrna Beach in Cocoa Beach in Florida
+Whitney Combs i don't know if there are teeth in the creek by your house. all you can do is go look to see if there are any there. i hope you find some!
Hello. I have watched your videos and was wondering if there was any way that you could identify a tooth that a found at Holden Beach last summer? Is there a way I could send you a picture and hopefully get an answer. Thanks Hannah!
Hannah Cronacher Hi Hannah, sure you can send me a pic and I'll try to ID the tooth for you. You can send it to ditchweezil at blackriverfossils dot org
Do you think there would be any land sites in Virginia? Down close near the border for North Carolina? I'm 15 and want to start getting into fossil hunting, since I wanna be a Paleontologist. But the river where I find most of the shark teeth is always up sadly, the place where my mom found her huge Meg is now private property.
WeRNinjas28X7 you might be able to find teeth at Virginia land sites. Look for creeks, streams, ditches, quarries, and excavation / construction sites. for shark teeth, you'll need to be reasonably close to the coast. good luck.
NOVA CHARGER I'll tell you a spot where you can find something. You know where Money Man pawn is on Dorchester Rd at Trolley Rd? There is a creek right next to it and you can find teeth in it at low tide. Don't take any digging tools with you because you could get fined.
blackriverfossils man wanna check summervill out now! Wanna try for a good meg. Saw that u guys find quite a few here. Where in summervill is this? Planning on going hunting there.
Where did you find these teeth? My daughter and I want to take a day trip to find teeth since we both collect (she's 9). Also, what do you use to clean them? I have thousands, but the largest is only the size of a quarter. All have been found on the beaches of Myrtle Beach, SC or mainly the east coast beaches of South FL.
Stephanie Inch it was a spot they did some digging but they are building now so there are no more teeth to find there. i didn't use anything except water to clean them.
Was it a building site? Can anyone go or do you need a permit? How did you know the sand they were using would have the fossils? I never thought of moving away from the beaches, but you have me convinced I can try to look elsewhere. I'm from out of state so I would be guessing on where I should go. Thanks for the information.
Stephanie Inch it was a building site. it was private property so i didn't need a permit. that's only required for state waters. i didn't know there would be anything there but I go exploring to find new sites and I just stumbled on it.
Thank you and nice Video! I found them with alot of other Teeth in Belgium on a place in the Harbor some years ago. But now there is only asphalt, no sand anymore, so sad! This summer I will be there and will look for a new place. The good place was Sand that they got out of the Ocean (North Sea) and placed it there. Thats why the place was full of Teeth.
assauali thank you. Belgium has a rich fossil history. I traded some shark teeth from Egem with some collectors from there. You might do some research and find more opportunities to collect, even if your North Sea spot no longer produces
the sediments under our feet were laid down over long periods of time, with the youngest being at the top and getting older the deeper you get. geologists can see differences in the dirt as you go down and each time they get to one deposited during a different time period, they give it a different name and i am referring to those, generally speaking. you'll also hear the term layer used interchangeably with formation. some formations have fossils in them, some don't. when I'm talking about hunting the formations, I'm talking about looking in the formations with fossils in them.
Fire Blaze yes the gift shops are loaded with them! haha, seriously though I've heard of fossil teeth being found on Kauai which is the oldest of the 4 major islands. There are also modern teeth that are sometimes found on the beaches.
