Here in coastal South Carolina its another day in paradise, as long as your idea of paradise is a sandy pit full of muck and stinky water. Oh, and also shark teeth. Not just puny little ones either, I'm talking about the huge fossil kind the size of your hand from the extinct giant white shark Megalodon. Millions of years ago this entire area was under the ocean and all kinds of big juicy marine mammals lived here, and megalodon was never the kind of predator to turn down a big fat whale, blubberlicious dugong, or even a fun size seal snack. We call this sandy pit Sloth Party because we found so many sloth fossils here, but I've already told that story. The ghosts of all that action are still here in this very pit. Their bones litter the bottom of this hole where we have been graciously granted permission to collect these fossils before they are dug out or buried forever. We dig the sand, clay, mud, and gravel to pluck the tooth treats from their graves, hoping to disinter a big one. @AncientAdventures and I have been very lucky in this place to find so many. I've been keeping count, that's the numbers you see in the video when I find a complete megalodon tooth. Today I found special Halloween themed meg tooth with a sinister face, its cold gaze staring back as if from an ancient tomb whispering frightening tales of primeval horror, a haunting rising anew from the prehistoric sea.
