Hunting the One Percent’s Doomsday Bunkers in New Zealand 

When I was a kid queenstown was awesome, we had a house in the holiday park and would spend heaps of time there, then all those rich people came, the holiday park was bulldozed and everyone forced to sell. I was up there last week and it's horrible now, it's no longer for kiwis, it's for foreign rich people

As a New Zealander, im worried that if a nuclear war did happen, enemies of the west would bomb us just to ensure the death of our most powerful figures. Other than that i can see no other reason why anyone would bomb us. Building bunkers here increases the target on us, we should make these rich foreigners pay to come here, maybe build some bunkers for the rest of us.

The fact that rich people don't know to go with Atlas Bunkers is rather laughable.

If I were to build a bunker there, I would contact and hire local concrete and steel suppliers, maybe whoever does their largest road and public works. With a multimillion budget, I wouldn't be importing and burying something, I would dig an enormously deep foundation, and pour massive load bearing walls with the thickest rebar in country, and top it with a slab thick enough to work as a foundation for a structure up top

If that was my place, I'd probably have a bunker, but I'd damn sure have more than one or two buildings of garages for my 'fleet' of supercars. Also, if that 2nd building under the hill is a bunker than it ain't a very good one since EVERYBODY can see it; it is a man cave.

I don't see how "doomsday bunkers" could ever work. No matter if it's any sort of single-family bunker, or community-scale bunker, or even town-scale "sort of" bunker like Queenstown. You know why? It's clear that should indeed any sort of doomsday actually happen - then it definitely means the end of global economy at very least. Which in turn means, any modern "developed" country - will have its domestic economy completely falling apart, as nowadays things are extremely globalized. Like, New Zealand is importing more than 80% of oil it needs. Bring in the doomsday - automatically this alone means over 80% of all vehicles, roughly speaking, in Zealand - are not moving anywhere, day after day, month and month. Which in turn means all sorts of things fall apart, things which require most of all the vehicles moving around, moving stuff around, etc. And it ain't just oil, it's hundreds types of goods, both resources and technological products, which can't be produced anywhere near required domestically amount by any modern country's economy. This, in turn, means complete social breakdown. Economy in ruins - means salaries not paid, bank terminals not working, services no more available, riots, armed conflicts, and rather soon civil war. There are a few "failed" or "nearly failed" countries (states) in the world already which recently went, and/or are currently going, through various phases of this. Except of these few, there _is_ an outside world which sends them at least some humanitarian aid, red cross teams, UN troops, etc - while in any proper doomsday scenario, none of the sort would come. Simply because noone "out there" is able to send them. And so, even if any sort of a bunker would work "as advertised" and keep a man / a family / a community / a region physically intact - very soon, all the "happy" survivors would still succumb to utter destruction of the only way of life they've even known, which is - a "civilized" way of life. Dark ages are called "dark" for a good reason, and it wouldn't be the 1st time mankind would get some. Rule of the strong and all that. The REAL deal - something which could actually work as a sort of backup, "plan B" for at least some proper doomsday scenarios - is a functioning human preservation region(s) / cultures, complete with full self-sufficiency by all systems and processes required for having full life-support features for its population, meaning that it must be very low-tech, it must avoid any instances of practical tragedy of commons happening (which means, only very specific sort of people could ever be allowed to live in it, namely overwhelmingly and sincerely altruistic, intelligent and environment-caretaking kind of people), and it must have ways to resist and/or endure any kind of external intervention (military or any other sort of). Perhaps you'd say this sounds completely and utterly impossible? Well, big surprise if so: such regions and cultures actually already exist, and some exist for many hundreds years, even. Like, i'm sure that yak herders in Tibet will keep doing what they were doing last couple thousands years - for thousands years after most sorts of doomsday events which would certainly wipe out vast majority of New Zealand's human population (and any other so-called "civilized" country's population just as well).

If you have information it looks like we need it, i'm sure we can reward and protect someone that provides us with the information we need. It's a pretty closed field so people with this type of info will know who they are, from what I have seen that alone could put you in danger.
