Randy, I truly love watching your shows. Found you from a "Gutless Method" video and that was it. I am hooked. Your personal ethics and genuine emotion and joy states so much. I took my 25 y/o son out for his very first hunt this year (first time really even in the woods off trail) in Northern Colorado. He shot a Muley Buck from about 60 yards. Happiest day in my life. Thank you for sharing all your times with us

Isn't that a fact? If not for luck, the other half of my tags my good unfilled. Following this hunt, Uncle Larry was back in experimental treatment for his cancer. It is always special to watch this. The good news is, the experimental treatments are keeping him going. We are making plans for next year. Good luck to you.

I'm new to hunting as far as carrying my own gun but have hunted with my dad and grandfathers for many years. I love your episodes and would love to see you go after a moose. Maybe in Maine, New Brunswick or Alaska.
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 8 лет назад
We did a moose hunt in AK. You can find it on the channel. It was a train wreck. Cameras ruined, outboard motors braking down, and most all other problems you can think of. Thanks for watching.

I have watched many of your videos which are great, in several you mention map hunting and how one can find great locations from that method. Would you please expand that knowledge or give links? Thanks very much.

Thanks again Randy for a great video. I thought for sure one would jump the fence and you would get him, But the way this is Bill from Susanville,Ca, I am going to Fort Peck this spring after everything in there. If you have the time and want to go There will be room for you for few couple days. Let me know. ( Late May early June)

Question, I've never hunted always wanted to but judging by the packs where's all the rest of the meat from the hunt doesn't look like much is on that back for such a large animal. Unless that's done after filming? Thanks love the short clips.
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 8 лет назад
Yeah, it takes multiple trips with big loads of meat. Usually four trips of 75-80 pounds each load.

Randy, you mentioned today (8/16/17) on your LIVE stream that you are planning to exhaust all of your Wyoming points next year. How's your uncle Larry doing? Is he coming along with you again to Wyoming? #SKOL! #VIKINGS! - Scott Schwab, Jackson Hole, WY
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 7 лет назад
He is still chugging along, undergoing experimental treatments at the MD Anderson Clinic in Houston every six weeks. He and my son have enough points to draw Wyoming elk in many of the better units, so expect to see them in Wyoming in 2018. Thanks for thinking of him, Scott.

Hey Randy, I really enjoy your uploads and the accompanying information. However i would like to interject my personal opinion and tell you; get rid of the Nissan and trade it for a Toyota...you'll be waaaay happier with the performance etc. HAHAHA!!!! I really enjoy how you prove the possibilities of hunting public land. Considering the odds that are against "average joe" when it comes to hunting public land.
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 6 лет назад
Glad you like it. I've bought five Titans with my own money and over the course of 300K of America's worst miles, have not had a single problem. Every time I buy a new truck, I go and look at all options out there. For my use, I continue to come back to the Titan PRO4-X. If you talk to Toyota, ask them when they will put a locking rear diff on the Tundra. That reason alone keeps it off my list of potential considerations. Appreciate you following along. To think people laughed at us ten years ago when we started an idea of the "average Joe" hunting on public land. I'm the one laughing now, given we are growing faster than ever and those critics are now employed doing something else. Wouldn't have happened without great support of people like you.

Randy - what would your recommendations be for someone who wants to do an OYOA Hunt but doesn't have any hunting experience and doesn't have any family/friends that hunt? I'd really like to get out there and do some hunting. Thanks.
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 8 лет назад
That would depend upon where you live. Where you live would determine what species you would hunt, which will determine the complications and logistics. Lots of good information on our hunting forum, www.hunttalk.com. If you ask on that site, you should get some good input. Or, if you can wait until I get off the road, send me an email at contact@randynewberg.com and I will do my best to point you in the right direction.

How did you like the range finding leicas back when you used them?
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 6 лет назад
OK. The range finding seemed to not allow them to be as bright as regular binos in low light. Maybe it was just me. I gave them to a camera guy who helped me haul an elk out of a terrible canyon.
@prestonprieto9946
@prestonprieto9946 8 лет назад
hey randy do you sometimes use a 7 mm 08 on elk or just a 308
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 8 лет назад
I would not hesitate to use a 7mm-.08. I use a .308 Win, because I have access to many rifles and all sorts of ammo. I like heavier bullets, no matter the species, so the .308 lets me use heavier bullets.

Hey Randy, I saw the island of public on the map you were using. How did you get in there? Did you have permission to cross private? Was there some public road the accesses it? I'm starting to look at the little pockets of BLM here in my state, and trying to figure out when it's possible to access them.
@kennethnelson885
@kennethnelson885 8 лет назад
+Live For Now Get in touch with your local BLM office and find out your states access program and maps of the area. They are a great wealth of information. Another tip I use a garmin GPS with a hunting chip that shows public and private land. I have had some ranchers mark public land as private. It's a great tool.
@Fresh_Tracks
@Fresh_Tracks 8 лет назад
+Live For Now - Yeah, Kenneth Nelson has it nailed. Get a map chip from onXmaps. It will show you all the ownership. A lot of times the county has an easement for the county road where it crosses private. Those can be your tickets to access. Best of luck this season.

Most often, that is what I use for elk. Here is a video explaining my most common elk set up - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-S_byQ5MoUBU.html And here is a video on elk cartridge/caliber selection - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Cfd3XkHDaDA.html

I'm a guide and I ALSO hunt public land on my own. I don't get how you have never been on a guided hunt yet, you act like you know what goes on and how they are ran. Truly mistaken my friend. Besides, aren't we all for conservation and doing it for the experience and animals in the end? I guide mostly out of state hunters (who sometimes obtain multiple tags) in Colorado. At over $550 for every out of state tag, that raises a ton of money and also allows them to spend money in our towns and places where we work and live. People like me then put that back into the system through our own tags, and donations. There are a million reasons why guided hunts are great and are for a select group and there is nothing wrong with that. I would invite you to come on a guided trip with me and guarantee you will have a blast, and we can however you want. I bet you would have a different outlook on it.
@nateeller2683
@nateeller2683 4 года назад
I think his point is not that guided hunts are phony, they are just ourt of the price range of the average hunter and that you don't necessarily need a guide to kill big animals
