Randy Newberg is joined by his uncle Larry on a late season elk hunt in Wyoming. Larry has had some serious health issues the last few years, so much so that his doctor didn't allow him to do this hunt last season. This year, he got the go-ahead to go elk hunting, but Randy is determined to make sure he doesn't push himself too hard but still be able to fill his elk tag with a public land bull elk.
They spend their time driving roads across the prairie and hiking ridges to glass for herds of late season elk. There isn't any trouble locating elk, the challenge is finding one that is accessible enough for Larry to get within shooting distance.
They locate a herd of bulls that Larry things he can get get to. So they park and make a stalk up to a ridge that should give them a reasonable shot. Slowly, making their way Larry is able to get into position but has a difficult time finding the correct bull in his crosshairs. He pulls the trigger, but the hunt surely doesn't end as expected.
