A narrated tour of the Huntington Beach pier and downtown shopping/restaurant district during California's lockdown. The Huntington Beach Pier is one of the longest piers on the West Coast.. The pier is the cultural center of the city, and is a great place to experience the beach culture of "Surf City USA." The pier meets land at Main Street, which is Huntington Beach's small, walkable, downtown district.

Hi Chris. Thank you for the info on Huntington Beach. I like it that it's not lined up with stores and attractions. Nice to have the open space for people to enjoy the scenery. This is a very nice area to visit and walk around.

Love visiting Huntington Beach! It’s my dad’s favorite place for evening walks. Speaking of July 4th, we were just there over the weekend, trying and failing to find parking :( Had to nix the walking plans and opt for cruising Pacific Coast Highway instead.

That is one nice pier! I could easily stay on that pier for a couple hours just looking out at the coast. Downtown Huntington Beach looked very quiet due to the pandemic, but at least it is advantageous that you are able to keep your distance easily! I hope you have a great Christmas!

Love your coastal video tours 😍! Are you planning to do more beaches like Malibu and upwards 😯. HB is huge. On a clear day with no smog you can see Long Beach and Palos Verdes hills from HB.

I would love to see a walking tour of long beach oceanfront, I used to visit lb from the UK every year and stay on the queen mary every year before I lost my job due to I'll health, I am missing california and can't see me visiting any time soon due to covid :( Also would you recommend staying in huntington beach over long beach? I must admit I like the available transport in to los Angeles from long beach as I wouldn't be hiring a car. Thanks for the great videos, all the best and a Merry Christmas from the UK.

Hi Paul.. I think the public transit in Long Beach is better. Huntington Beach is definitely a car focused city.. but as far as the beach itself goes I think Huntington is the better Beach of the 2.

Hi Brian -- Manhattan Beach is much more expensive.. so for me it would be Huntington Beach. HB I think is more laid back

Yes and yes. Some of the warmest water all year is typically in September. And yes. There are outdoor public showers. Not private showers.

The HB pier is not the original pier. After a major winter storm, the pier was damaged so badly it had to be replaced and was in the same spot. It was built stronger and longer. Sadly Rubys just closed for good. I hope another good place is put there and people like it as much as Rubys. Also, there was an episode of the old TV show Route 66 filmed too.

So sad for me to see what they have done to HB. I moved there in 63, graduated from HB High in 66. Left for the Army in 68 and came home in 70. Lived around the block on 5th street then lived on 8th and then 20th. Had breakfast on Sundays at the Sugar Shack. The only thing I recognized was the Sugar Shack. What a commercialized mess!! I moved inland in 77 and quit going there at all by 80. What a sad thing to see today!

Walking tour would be perfect if people would pick up after their dogs. Really disgusting habit the locals have of leaving dog poop on sidewalks, in gardens, on the beach, by the pier. Gross!
