Kirby Allison, Founder of Hanger Project, had the opportunity to visit Huntsman's cutting room in New York. It is the first cutting room to be opened by a Savile Row tailor outside of London. Ralph Fitzgerald Moullet goes through the process of measuring Kirby for a bespoke shirt.
H. Huntsman & Sons is a high-end fashion house and tailor located at No. 11 Savile Row, London. It is known for its English bespoke menswear tailoring, cashmere ready-to-wear collections, and leather accessories.

Good job of measuring for custom shirts. When taking skin measures, put the tape in your left hand and pull it around with your right hand. Doing that will enable you to read the numbers in the natural order instead of upside down. Philip Perkins Perkins Tailoring Instruments

In a nutshell, what do you think of technology-based companies that offer custom-fit business attire -- namely I'm thinking of companies like MTailor? And what are your thoughts on their possibility of disrupting the more traditional Savile Row bespoke tailors as the technology improves and becomes more accurate? Thank you!

Thank for sharing this Kirby. What are your thoughts about undershirts when wearing a dress shirt? I’m frustrated by how my undershirt shows through some of my white dress shirts when I remove my jacket.

As counter intuitive as this may sound, if you wear a grey undershirt rather than a white one, it really doesn't show through the white dress shirt.

The collar measurement is critically important. Why is he a 15" if the measurement is 15 1/2"? Is this a tolerance issue?

Huntsman RTW shirts are made by Turnbull & Asser. Is this the same for their bespoke offering or is it in-house? Wondering if there is a difference if go directly to dedicated bespoke shirtmakers like T&A or Ascot Chang...who have outposts in NYC also

Stacey Chow Their bespoke shirt program in New York is not done by T&A. It is by someone local that has a very respected sewing room doing only bespoke. I think the primary advantage of having Huntsman do your bespoke shirts is consolidating the relationship. One person, your cutter, integrating it all together. Not everyone wants to fuss with dealing with two relationships, two travel schedules, etc.

My shoulder drop was fixed by PT (working on the wrist pain and finger tingling, all gone and went from a grip of 25# to 86# in five sessions). Sure feels a lot better, so working on the upper back and core to keep it that way. Hope this helps.

I cringe every time some one mentions Kirby's sloping shoulders. Shoulders rolling forward or sloping are a not a good sign from a PT perspective and overall MSK structure.
