No, no, no, trust me you will definitely listen to this song again, It's just so much fun 😅 I've said it before but I don't feel you've really heard a Bungle song until you've listened to it at least 5 times, try it!!! lol There is just so much going on you cannot take everything in straight away so you don't really hear the song as it was intended unless you give it a chance, don't tell anyone but I actually didn't like this song at first 😳🙄😅 It's actually one of my favourite Bungle songs now, I think their most complex songs definitely are the most rewarding, you will appreciate them more later on 😎 I totally get what you mean about the live versions of the songs, I almost always prefer live Bungle, their energy is just amazing, these guys really love music and it shows 😊 Thank you for your reaction and glad you liked this incredible song 💗

"We started in Egypt and now we're in California" is a perfect description of this whole record. Also, you were bang on with the Beach Boys thing, there's so much Pet Sounds influence on this record, i think that's why it was the first Bungle record to really grab me. I will hassle Roxy to suggest Vanity Fair to you, you'll dig it!

I'm glad I saw Bungle at a solo show and not at a festival. 98% of the people in the venue knew who they had come to see, were amped for it and loved it. The anticipation of those around me in the line to get in, and waiting for MB to come on...we were buzzing! I love that you do a live performance of a song as well, it takes me back to that show, the experience...awesome. I hope you check out a live performance of Retrovirtigo sometime.

LOL, like the time before last that I was in Belgrade, Serbia I was out doing one of my evening/night-time walks to a social thing and the pedestrian zone had a Y shape. I walk down one side to cross the V end of it and heard what I thought was this being played by a busker... but thought, "nahhhhh".... walked a little further and was again, like, "naaahhhh???" and had to go over and see. Went down the other side in the opposite direction of my event - sure enough, middle of Belgrade pedestrian zone was a guy with an accordion rocking this out. This was not a song I ever expected to run across with a busker.

OK, I don't think you've actually heard Ars Moriendi: )) but you`ve definitely heard that type of music, or this kind of dominant genre of this Mr.B.`s song, which they covered, and that genre is: GYPSY MUSIC ! ...HEY, DOES ANYONE READ WHAT I WRITE IN HERE AT ALL??! :D:D:D I know this for sure - BECAUSE I LIVE IN BELGRADE, and YES, OUR STREET PERFORMERS ARE QUITE OFTEN - GYPSIES! :)) Please, if you find your free time, read my earlier post below, I explained most of the things that happen in this particular Bungle song, its in detail & incredible... :) P.S.Sorry for my tone, I`m not even sure if our reactor read what I wrote because I bust my fingers typing all that juicy information and not getting any response and I don`t even know if I`m doing this in vain...It frustrates me a little, but I hope it works trick. Greetings and come to party in Belgrade again. :) Hey, even Mr.B. recognized that spirit that (our) gypsies support in here! :))

@@boyhrn Thanks for the input, but I assure you it was Ars Moriendi. And yes, I have heard it... that seems a bit obvious from my comment and also what I'm responding to. My initial disbelief was much for the reason you express - it could have been something else of the same background/genre and I brushed it off as just exactly that. Then as I described I heard more and more and then had to go back and really listen to see if it was or wasn't. I ended up standing across from the guy for a good bit before I believed it was actually this. I finally felt firm in belief when they went into mimicking the genre switches and vocal highlights that were distinctive. It was really quite a stunning bit of ability. I don't understand why a lack of familiarity with the song or my personal experience is so unpleasantly assumed and dismissed, but I'm sorry if reality in this case causes you frustration or unhappiness. I'll not get into some internet back and forth over it. I was the one there and I've a distinct lack of wish to bother with rudeness.

@Rumpus Has Opinions Wow! In that case, I think you came across some-well educated musicians on the street that are familiar with Mr.Bungle, because as I mentioned, it not just gypsies performing here, there are other sorts of very good, talented and educated people there that are non-gypsies, but that`s really great what you`re telling me and therefore accept my apology.:) And you misunderstood what I meant: I didn`t get frustrated because of you, no... :)) It was just because of our host as I`m not sure that he reads (my) comments sometimes - but that was all... :) Still, I hope he does. :) And OK, I admit, I may have run ahead thinking you might have been heard something else instead of Ars Moriendi, but to tell you the truth, that was just due to a fact that gypsy music is played here quite a bit in public, so I must have naively thought that as a tourist you may not have heard it well or ... dunno, you connected it too quickly with Ars Moriendi... But this surprised me too! : D Hey, I thought only a few people in my city / state had heard of Mr.Bungle, but guess what - they play it on the streets! :))) That fantastic! :) Ok, I`m glad we fixed this. :) I didn`t mean to misjudge your hearing or even sound like that. OK? :)

I`m drinking beer and I`m typing this for you :); you play this song to your homies at some party and soon - you`ll all go dancing, like, on the walls, bro. :)) Maybe you`ll laugh at first -wtf is this?! - but you will want to play it again, and every time you do, you`ll dig the song even more, you`ll remember how it works, feel how it goes and flows, and you`ll discover that each and every part of it - which at first glance seems fuzzy and incoherent - falls to fit in its perfect place. :) And at the end you`ll all have fun and that`s how Bungle works. :) With or without beer! :D Its not just Patton`s head; every member is equally creative in this band. :) Otherwise - they couldn`t pull this off. ;) ... Yeah, you could even sample Bungle - if they haven`t already filled their own sound with a bunch of keyboard samples too, hahah.. ! Should we ask them to send us some of these samples by mail?... :D :D Now, look, let me get serious for a moment, just to point out the meaning of this song, I`ll explain what type of music you`ve just heard. :) Egyptian... ? Mmmh. Close enough.. :) Still, not quite precise, right..? :) Yes, it has that Oriental vibe, but actually because of the special genre of world folk music known as - gypsy music! :)) More precisely: Romanian gypsy music. :) You`ve heard of that European country Romania, right? :) Homeland of the famous Count Dracula and his castle? :) Yes, that one. :) Surely, you know who the Gypsies are: nomadic people spread all over the world, and to add historically - India is the country where their distant ancestors come from... :) This people is known for its music, customs and wild, unrestrained, free spirit. :) Their credo is: go, travel everywhere and have happy, joyful life filled with passion, ecstasy and love. :) Their music is largely a mirror of such a philosophy. And you just heard this from Mr. Bungle, because they copied that music! :D You could guess by now that Patton & the crew are well acquainted with various types of music, so it seems that the Gypsies came to their turn at that moment - perfectly chosen! :)) And last time here: why? :) OK. Check this out; the title of the song is medieval Latin, which means "The Art of Dying"... Sounds morbid, but that phrase from the books of Middle Ages symbolized a moral way to die as a decent human being, as God would like. :D I know, it sound a little boring :) but Mr. Bungle is here to make it ironically funny - as the (anti) hero of their song is Satan himself or some rabid creature like him, riding all over the world, like a nomad, like a Gypsy, who "steals pearls from the ashes" , "leaps across the precipice" (actual verses from the song) and many other wonders. :) This kind of furious, brave life is "the art of dying well" by Mr.Bungle.. :) And also; you could hear bunch of traditional gypsy instruments: accordion, violin, dulcimer, recorded in studio by special guests, played as samples in live performances. ;) They even had a techno-folk part near the beginning, remember? - that funky groove? :) ...And the special treat in this song are those fast parts, which meta-musically rely on the death-metal beats from which Mr.Bungle originates, but are actually an organic part of gypsy music too.. :) These parts are related to a special 'genre' of gypsy music called "kolo" ("wheel"), mostly fast instrumental folk music where boys and girls hold hands, forming a huge circle and dancing merrily to those beats, always in two directions ...: D You should try it sometimes with your crew, maybe you`ll find wonderful fun in it, especially with this song! :)) Oh, God, I think this is my biggest post so far. But this song was your biggest breakthrough with Mr. Bungle so far, and I guess this was justified, hahah...To celebrate - cheers! :) I wish you a good day too amigo and enjoy the journey of these good lunatics :) Bye! :)
