12:14 one of the best moments in the whole series. i still remember how she cried and smiled at the same time. poor hurrem, everyone were against you but you managed all the troubles. i'm really proud of you
Hurrem made a huge sacrifice for the empire by producing so many sons , because she knew only 1 will ascend the throne and others will be killed either by hook or crook.
Her other sons died anyways. And her son who ascended the throne caused a downfall of the Ottoman Empire😐 So it'd have been better if she didn't do her "sacrifice". The throne would had successors anyways. I respect Hurrem for the struggles she did, but I have to say, the struggles were for her own sake, not for the Empire.
@@sadiajafrinn not really the one who cause the downfall was suleiman he killed 2 of his sons one of them kustafa who would be the best one for the throne
@@dorotejapesic501 That's what I was trying to say. The throne didn't get a approciate owner despite Suleiman had some great Şehzades, and Hurrem was very much involved in this because she didn't want Mustafa and wanted her son, which was basically the main cause of the downfall.
The Ottoman Empire abducted the prettiest girls of Balkan families for the harem and abducted their strongest boys for the Janissary Corps for many centuries. These people were awful human beings. I despise movies that romanticize people like this.
They just bought slaves I think. The slave trader's are different. And I don't know what country you are from but European countries as well as other countries also had slave system as well. And their treatments were very much different. A slaves son would become a slave, not a prince. They were treated less than animals. Of course slavery is slavery. But still, I would rather be a slave in an Ottoman harem than a black slave in an European country.
Those were the most difficult times for Hurrem. everyone such as nigar, sumbul, diya hatun were against her and sultan suleyman wasn't there to protect her. after that she still faced a lot of trouble and danger but few were on her sides
I sort of feel sorry for her! Wonder what I would do if a lusty redhead would take off with my boyfriend or husband. But I would not blame her, blame the male. The sultan is adulterous, ugh!
@@Saucyakld Lol you seem jealous "lusty redhead woman" ridiculous! She was the only one who genuinely loved the Sultan for himself, all the others were after the power, rank and wealth they could get from him especially that crybaby, entitled Mahidevran. The Sultan isn't adulterous,it was a harem and it was those days system for a Sultan however Sultan Suleiman really loved Hürrem and never touched another woman after her in real history, don't come to comical conclusions without knowing the whole concept and history.
@@dariamarkina5651 that boy was suposed to mary Hurem she lied that she is pregnent just too not mary him and in the end she was pregnant for real hahahaha 🤣 valide sultana giv the order to hurem to mary that boy 🙄
13:46 - The look on Ayshe's face is priceless. We can see her go from "what is happening? I was sleeping and now I need context" to "that's not my problem this night" XD
Me too. I hate that she was being bullied by Valide, so I'm happy that she was really pregnant. She confessed her love for Suleiman to her good friend Maria, so she wasn't being pretentious.
I was watching Mustafa's .......... Whatever..... There are a lot of depressing about to happen 😞 so whenever I watch those episodes I always came back to old ones. We all are thinking that hurrem and Mahidevran is going through a challengs. You have no idea what you are about to see 20 years later
Ok, but how is the physician lady going to see, what she's doing 'down there'? Nigar Kalfa placed the cloth right over her head, as well as over Hurrem's legs. I mean, I guess it's mostly an examination by touch anyway, but it's still awfully funny, if you pay close attention, to what's going on... Someone hand her a flashlight, stat!
The midwife is checking the position of the cervix and how it feels, if its closed and its mucus. Experienced midwives can tell a pregnancy that way but its not full proof. They dont need to see usually just feel around. The cloth is for modesty and some doctors etc. Still use it.
@@Jennawxyz221 my friend is a midwife and doula and you're correct. Simply put, she said a trained midwife will be able to stick her fingers and hands around a woman's vagina and uterine area and the placement of things will definitely tell you what's going on.
Snausage is right. The opening of the uterus (cervix) becomes soft and lifts upwards. When youre not pregnant the cervix is firmer like the side of your nose. When youre pregnant it feels like a lip. Plus, Im sure they chart her cycle. If her fluid is very wet and slippery thats a sign. Before we bleed its more watery after being slippery. If it stays slippy? Thats a sign Elevated body temperature. And oddly a slow bleed with brown blood is a sign. The embryo burrows down deeper and deeper causing bleeding.
I really really do not want to know how awful it must feel to be examined like this...as a woman, going to the gyn there days is already uncomfortable. Rly do not want to know how it was back in the day...
I think the question "did she cheat on Suleiman" comes from misunderstanding the OP. "To be pregnant with X" means X is the child's name, but I believe in some languages it can mean that X is the father. Pretty sure that's the case in Polish.
The weird thing is why would a guy be excited to marry a woman who was already "used" by the sultan? I thought muslims are strict with this matter? She is a sultan's woman not a second hand apparel to be given away by his mother to less fortunate kids in the neighborhood.
Probably cervix changes ... it would feel high and soft if she was pregnant. High and firm if she wasn't pregnant but was ovulating. Or low if she's bleeding.
Yeah the first legally married wife of Ottoman Sultan and Haseki who ruled alongside the Sultan which was a first, quite legendary achievemens for a person who is apparently "only a baby producing machine" 😒
Hi. My friend is a doula/ midwife and she often does these kinds of exams in the Amish community to determine pregnancy and how far along someone is. They’re accurate. They can cause problems, yes, but please don’t spread the lie that they don’t determine pregnancy.
