Extensive damage to coast, yachts, sailboats, ships and homes in the Tyrell Bay area. The hospital has been badly damaged and is extremely limited in care capability. Com towers collapsed. Drone. Licensing via www.wxchasing.com
As a former disaster response coordinator, I want to commend your efforts in getting this high-quality drone footage out so quickly. If only we had such high-quality visual information after every remote disaster! Data is gold for decision-making at times like this, and I hope your footage is well used by the teams involved. Keep up the good work!
I was surprised that I didn't see any geodesic dome homes which are rated at 225 mph winds. Also Hempcrete, concrete mixed with hemp fibers, add alot of strength for little $$ especially for low slope concrete roofs.
They Storm Chasers from USA mainland for years this is first time for them to go another country far away that is in tropical lattitudes because they heard the weather news and wanted to CHASE IT This country has its own Government maybe they should have Storm Chasers Department to do this type of jobs Drones are cheap only 50US dollars @@elicitpassion1109
This heartbreaking footage has actually been a source of tremendous relief for the family of a yachtie stranded in Tyrell Bay and thousands of miles away from home. His family has been desperately trying to reach him without success but the drone captures him moving about on his damaged boat. Thanks for sharing indeed ! 🙏🏽
We sailed by Carriacou last Saturday on our way to a slip in Grenada where we rode out the storm. Last summer we spent most of it in Tyrell Bay and were planning on doing the same this year. It really hits home to see a place you are familiar with so destroyed. The Cruising Community here at the marina sent a large care package on the ferry to help out until more organized relief can arrive.
what is obviously devastating is the building damage, which looks extensive, but is also disheartening is the complete lack of foliage now on the trees. the wind just wiped them clean of green... it's hard to watch and I hope everyone there can rebuild and live happy again very soon.
What was unreal were the eyewitnesses on the Carib Reservation on the northeast coast in Dominica with Hurricane Maria Cat 5 just before landfall in 2017..." the brilliant hues of blues and green in a boiling sky ... the lightning reached down to the ocean and ran along to the land where it caught huge trenches of forest on fire... the blackened and burnt sticks where foliage had been bore witness for months afterwards and not a blade of grass was to be seen as Maria pulverised every leaf into a fine misty green powder" such were the testimonies of those who survived.....
I visited there just two weeks ago. The trees already looked like this, they shed their leaves beacuse of an extreme dry season this year. Seeing the island destroyed like this is very saddening. Prayers to everyone there!
You know it's bad when all vegetation is brown and no leaves on the trees! I had one home destroyed by Charlie and others damaged over the years! I feel for all people affected and please put a link for donations!
To be fair, depending on the size of the island, and if they are able to make a bit of their own weather, dry season is always brown even before you add a hurricane.
@@nichmon3221 There are several relief funds set up. I would like to make sure to donate to one that goes directly to the people. Please let me know if you know one. If not, I have to go through a UK bank.
Your service to Carriacou is sooo appreciated! I'm sure many heroes will emerge from this. You are the immediate super heroes. Bless you for helping us see and know. Your respect & love for our friends and family is beyond anything I have ever seen at a time like this.
Thank you!!! This was so useful! I can see my friend working on his little boat in the mangroves. Dismasted but floating! His family will be so relieved to see that he survived.
Your drone footage is top tier! Extremely devastating, but the people of the Caribbean are quite resilient and will find a way to rebuild their lives 🙏🏼🤲🏼
Thank you. I had to stop uploading 4k so only 1080 due to limitations on batteries and bandwidth. They are very strong and positive people and will stare the difficulties in the eyes with a smile. Just hope they get all the support needed.
Besides getting fresh water and food down there ASAP, everyone might want to check out which buildings survived and why they were able to withstand those winds.
Excellent footage... Unfortunately, I was able to see so much loss. I was there 6 weeks ago and made friends with a local musician... His 2 story house is leveled... I was also able to pick out another friends boat, and it is destroyed in the boat yard.... At least I know.... Positive vibes going out to everyone affected....
this footage is obviously intense and I feel for all affected. That said, I must say I’m so impressed with the percent of homes that survived and look barely affected. Islanders know storms are coming and build accordingly and even the boats while pushed inland or ashore aren’t really smashed to bits. I’ve been through many hurricanes, one that was a direct hit such as this and there was literally one structure still standing and everything else down to the concrete slabs…. Boats splintered and waterways blocked. I hope they get all the relief and help they need to rebuild their island paradise once more. ❤❤such a beautiful place
@@fluffytail6355imagine holding a hair dryer going on high next to each ear for nine hours and watching your walls groan and move. It’s traumatizing. I can’t imagine what it was like for people on their boats, especially seeing the ones that flipped and knowing it could happen to them at any minute 😞
Wow, I'm so grateful you are there to show us this footage. I'm so concerned for the people of Mayreau, Union Island and Canouan also. I wish there was some way you could get there to show us some footage. No communication from there at all. Thank you for putting yourself in harms way. Be safe
Thank you for Tyrell and Paradise Beach footage. Sadly we were able to confirm damage to the beach house and complete loss of our friends house behind it. Emotionally wrecked.
Thank you so much for this footage. We have been able to sight my fathers house in Tyrell Bay. Standing but roof gone on flat above. Just need news of him and his carers and friends now.
@@WxChasing His carer managed a quick call via the Police last night. He is okay but everyone at the shelter with cuts and bruises. The shelter at the school where only two rooms in the building remained intact. Other friends not so lucky with their house and boat; still awaiting word on them.
This was good to view as I was able to spot my grandmother's home which seems to have roofing issues. But home looks intact. Many thanks for the footage because at least we can see the real extent now rather than later when all is cleared up. Gives us something to go by.
Can you please video the north of the island that’s were my home is I’m currently in Grenada and don’t know the condition of it I’ll be thankful, it in the Dover limlair
My heart breaks to see this devastated beautiful Island. It really hits home having spent time there on our boat. Walking those same streets, Making friends in a lot of the Islands that got hit badly by this hurricane.
@@WxChasing yes I am very blessed and lucky to have visited this beautiful Island with beautiful kindhearted people that I become to say have a bigger heart to enjoy the simplicity in life. Unfortunately now they lost their homes etc. .. I am wondering how they are doing with water supplies etc. perhaps you could explain this in a video? I think that would make us not living with this devastation a bit more “ Humble and Compassionate “ so to say. But then I believe you probably already have one on the go to be posted.
Incredible the damage. So many homes destroyed. Catamarans upside down. Crazy. Many boaters are crying today. Hopefully the aid comes quickly. I will look to where best to donate!
I ran across a redditor in an Andrew thread telling of his current neighborhood in South FL. He reported there were construction crews not tying down roofs on new builds at all.
The blue house and the brown house @ 6:20; a testimony to the strength of the parpet roof. All builders and home owners, roofless and otherwise should take note.
Very good drone work! Looks like a giant helicopter flew upside down over the landscape and gave your beautiful island a haircut. Much like how Puerto Rico looked after Maria. I wish you all the best as you begin your recoveries! Hopefully World Central Kitchen will be there soon to get you fed and well taken care of. I will never understand why all the ships and sailing vessels are not moved to a safe harbor before mother nature unloads. They could all be bringing back desperately needed supplies in a flotilla.
Hopefully there is some world countries that are going to send some very vital aid to these people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And QUICKLY. Prayers to the great people of Grenada.
TY both for the continued coverage and footage. I was wondering how you both are doing, do u have what u need to sustain and are you processing mentally ok? Blessings 🙏🙏🙏
There is not a single structure that escaped serious damage. This is exactly what catastrophic devastation looks like. I hope the international community steps in rather quickly to offer significant aid and other assistance to the people of Carriacou, Grenada. Truly heartbreaking.
Could you please do a drone video of Bellevue South, Six Roads, and the more southern parts of the island? You're providing the best real-time information we have about the conditions on Carriacou at the moment. Craigston as well!
@@WxChasing could you confirm which starlink you're using? is it the Roam? I have family flying down from the US and I want to send one down with them.
Goodness they got alot of Damage. I knoe that had to be scary. Hoping and Praying everyone is okay and They get the help and relief They need. God bless and Protect 😢🙏❤
Devastating for this Era. Remind me of when my dad talked of Hurricane Janet in 1955. It estimated 147 deaths. Houses also were not as strongly built as today. This present devastation is bad, but I am thanking God that there may not have been any loss of life. My prayers are with everyone affected by Byril. May God be with each of you in your time of need. In Jesus name, Amen.
Will you be able to get to the village of Petit Carenage? It’s just north of Windward. It’s a small village of mostly older people. My husband’s parents are there and we’re desperate to hear anything. They are in their 80’s.
Traditional West Indian construction, concrete walls, wooden roof, the roof is the weak point, in Puerto Rico we have poured concrete roofs for the most part, each house is a bunker.
Man I feel this.......memories of hurricane Maria here in Dominica almost 7 years ago, the next day everything was dead, like fire passed in the vegetation during the night of the hurricane trees brown, dried like the very life was sucked right out if their core........but we got help and the Almighty God was with us........I pray that the same assistance will come speedily to you all our brothers and sisters on the affected islands. Keep praying, keep hope alive and have much faith. That night I saw death, I heard voices at 1am in the morning in the storm, heard kids laughing and talking, but there were no kids outside......my roof went before the eye passed over........and then came the backend and it lasted for about 6 hours..........was like Maria was searching for something, searching for souls, my 2 and half year old son I had to cover with a basin, we (4) took shelter in the bathroom which was the smallest room from 9pm till about 10pm when the eye was over us, I know what these people suffered I have been there and pray to God I never have to experience anything like this again............
Many or even most of the buildings are destroyed. Some of the buildings, even the ones right on the water, appear to be untouched. Tells you what different construction methods can do.
