That was the longest night of my life. No power sharing a house with 12 other people couldn't sleep a wink while hearing your roof being nearly ripped off for 4 hours
@@same.9512 for Harvey It was 2 things. In 36 hours it went from a cat1 which is bearable to a cat 4. No one was expecting it and by that time there were no hotel rooms available for 3-4 hours so we kind of just had to stay put
Did anyone else want to watch these vids because of the new hurricanes? Edit: btw, never got this many likes before on a comment so this is awesome lol. I feel bad for everyone going through these hurricanes and whatever else you're going through. Wish you the best
@@gillies9640I know this was 4 years ago, but damn, you are an idiot. Being reminded of a traumatic event you lived through can cause ptsd symptoms. I thought that was common fucking sense by now, but stupid people surprise me every day 😂
I had a razor 4x4 polaris with big silverback gorilla tires 800cc supercharged and snorkeled. I drove around my town just to see the extent of the damage. My family was lucky as we lived in a relatively higher spot in the town. Just down the street and a couple miles towards town, entire homes were being swept away. It was insane, all we could do was make store runs and get food for some of the rescue teams.
If I didn't know any better I'd say it has something to do with all those weather modification patents...like the kind you can find on government websites with a simple google search..
By far the scariest part for them had to be those wind sounds at 15:58 and seeing the window structure buffeting in front of you...bet that was intense.
preludepatrick I didn't hear the winds of Harvey, I was in the Houston area (the ocean) But I do remember the winds of ike. It's horrifying right?. Sounds kind of like the world is ending.
i live in rockport hwy 188 stayed during storm the winds were very scary but when the surge came in 8 feet at my place i thought it was over for me bad bad storm praying for hurricane florence victim's here
Yea, Harvey is a once in a lifetime event. I'm in Sugar Land, normally doesn't flood out here which is why I stayed back thinking I would be safe. But I was just completely underestimating how much rain it would drop after stalling and my house got very close to flooding. One of the most terrifying moments of my life
I’m lucky to live between addicks and barker reservoirs, so it never floods for me. Not during Harvey, not during Imelda, not even during the Labor Day floods.
Definitely agree. Its hard to watch and not get watery eyed knowing we all lived through this nightmare. Thankful to be here but will never forget the feeling this storm gave me... Violated is the only term I can think of.
I live right by the Kroger when you showed the flood footage at the end which is FM 528. We are still trying to rebuild a little as we can. Life altering storm.
I live in corpus and it was crazy that we didn’t get strong winds or much rain as we had thought. We are only about 30 miles away from Rockport at that. Honestly it was still terrifying
I remember feeling the walls “flexing back and forth”, no electricity, and the roof sounding like it was about to rip off. We are lucky to have survived. It was mad to say the least.
Longest 3 days! Evacuated on Saturday and taken to the island. Thing turned around and hit the island. The wind and rain kept me awake as tornado warnings kept going off on my phone. I didn’t sleep until Tuesday.
In and around Houston was impassable and devastating with the high flood waters everywhere, especially I-10 both ways near downtown.. see all that water was crazy and terrifying
No one talking about the looting after the storm. I live in Corpus and people were updating each other on social meddia about looting going on and locations to be on the lookout. (That was a GREAT way social media was useful and roll call to make sure Loved ones were okay) Someone got killed for looting and others shot. Felt like the wild west. Everyone was carrying that's why some people stayed to defend what they had. MAN I LOVE TEXAS
Oh I remember Harvey! We were blessed and only got a few inches of water in a couple of rooms of our home. After the recent freeze apocalypse I went through I’ve learned the hard way Mother Nature is force you don’t underestimate!
I stay in Baytown about 20 min from Houston. I remember going to sleep thinking we might get a lil rain . Woke up too not being able to leave the house do too flooding for 3 days.. it was bad
At the very end of this video, it shows the awful flooding that the Friendswood area had. My house had 3+ ft. of water in it and I was rescued by boat also.
oh and we were RIGHT outside of friendswood (like where the jack in the box and dominos are near autumn creek) we are so close to that and we actually talked on KHOU tv at the time. We were so lucky to lose a tiny bit of our floor, stopping just short of our kitchen island.
Thanks for documenting this storm. The sounds and smells and images of that night are burned in my memory forever. We ended up fairing pretty well but that night in the dark we didn't know what was next. It was an intense experience to say the least...
This is incredible footage. I live in Houston, and, we are lucky the main eye didn’t come our way. City would be destroyed with the winds not to mention flooded from the rain
Where i live, around Seguin, Tx, we were lucky, we stayed on the very edge of Harvey, we got plenty of rain but not too much of the wind like early projections had put that it was gonna come up in to pur area which is about 2 hours away from the coast, Harvey stayed down that area and wreaked havok for 2 days in the same spot, my girlfriend and her family from Woodboro which is just barely 20 miles inland from Rockport, i go down there on a regular basis and to this day you can still see the effects of Harvey, the house that her Mom lives in used to have a carport that they set in a concrete slab, the winds were so strong there it ripped the poles right out of the concrete and threw the carport down the street and in the pasture across the house into pieces! Luckily they all evacuated to Austin, i haven't spent much time in Rockport myself but I can still see some damage to places in Woodsboro, Refugio and Bayside certainly, a lot of old peers got destroyed and all you see is the remaining poles in the Copano Bay, I'm glad you shared this video because of the flooding and destruction of Houston, Rockport and the surrounding areas kinda get forgotten to devasted it really was there
Randell Shedd no point; use that time to donate money to disaster relief organizations rather than make a fervent wish. As far as we know, nothing can stop a hurricane other than environmental factors which are out of anyone’s control. Anyone who thinks I’m being a dick, trust me, it’s not my intent; I’m just saying there’s better things to do than wish. Everybody who’s in the path of this thing, be sure to listen to official advice and stay safe.
I live in the woodlands which is about 45 mins north of Houston and i was so lucky to not have the flooding affect our house, we were stuck on an island pretty much tho for a whole week but still blessed
I was so worried during this time the scariest moments of my life. Thank goodness the water literally stopped right before it reached my house however one of the ways out of my neighborhood was completely submerged and it was rlly scary
It’s now approaching the 2nd Advisory of Harvey, 2nd Costliest Hurricane Ever! Do remember most of Harvey’s Damage was from the rainfall! But still was terrible, as storms like Sandy, Katrina, and Harvey have thought us is wind is not everything! These storms are wake up calls to higher sea levels and a warmer planet! My cousin was in Harvey, thankfully she was fine! Hurricane Harvey was definitely one of the worst Hurricanes in US History!
It was rough. My first hurricane coming from Cali I have been in many quakes. Sat on us for 4 days. Then Florence and Michael. I pray so much for this beautiful wild world and all my brothers and sisters worldwide.
I live in Houston (galleria area) but I’m originally from Florida so I knew to evacuate. I went to Dallas and didn’t come back until about 9 days later! Too much flooding
That fucking window at 15:42 ... That was more horrifying than a movie. That glass pulsating, the sound of the cracking echoing down a dark hallway. No sound other than a continent-sized monster outside, roaring. I've never been in a hurricane. I won't pretend I know what its like now, but I somewhat understand.
What was the temperature during the storm? Up here in South Dakota the temps will drop drastically when a supercell blows in, then shoot back up afterwards. Does the same happen with a hurricane?
Old Aunt Zibby this is a late response but yes, the temps were significantly lower during Harvey. August in Texas, no matter where you are in the state, is considered the hottest month out of the year. The high will say 95 with a heat index of 105 or whatever due to the humidity (I live in the Houston area). But during Harvey, it felt like more in the upper 70s to 80s and even cooler at night
We stayed because it wasn’t forecast to be a strong hurricane and wasn’t likely to hit us. We live in Victoria. Well it surprised all of us. I been through a couple hurricanes, never as strong as Harvey . All I remember is the sound of things hitting the house, and I swear that wind howling sounded like a woman screaming.😱 for hours. We were without electricity for 10 days. Some people went longer. And the amount of downed trees was crazy. I drove thru hurricane Claudette, who was just a tropical storm and just before landfall turned into a cat1, I was at work and kept calling home checking in with my husband and kids and he said oh it’s not to bad.😒 I called my mom and she said the shingles are flying off my roof and I said I’m leaving! lol there I was driving in a cat1 trying to get home. Those rain drops felt like little knives hitting me as I ran to car. It was raining so hard I could barely see, I drove like 5 mph. When I got to within a block from my house I saw at the gas station the entire carport thing had blown off and was laying in the parking lot! 😮 At this moment I realized maybe I should have stayed at work but to late I was closer to home than work. I got home just in time to see a branch fall and break a window in my kids room! Definitely something I will never forget.
We're still rebiilding a year later and we Have one taking the same path this year of it hits us again im just going to live in the debry this time im to tired to spend another year biulding
Any one going to help out with Florence the people there will need dry socks and dry sheos prenty of bug spray tarps gas but dry feet would of been so nice that first month
You know shit is bad when the wind makes that howling moaning noise and the building is doing its exorcist impression. Makes you wonder about the 1900 Hurricane Fuck Shit Up event and what those poor pricks went through, they got about an hours warning from some dude running a flag or something up over the post office or telegraph station. Fat lot of good that did.
I was in my chevy Silverado. Driving around sinton even tho i couldnt see 5 feet in front of my head lights. It was funny..i just didnt wanna lose my truck. Good thing nothing fell on it
I hate the sound of rain now. I used to love it until Harvey hit. Used to be very therapeutic. But now I just freak out, questioning when is it going to stop.
