Hi from Raceland 👋. We still have no roof on the portion that was completely blown away so hopefully insurance well cooperate soon! All I have is a tarp over the rafters of my attic on the entire northside. We stayed as well & thank God we did b/c we would’ve lost everything. We were 14 of us here including 6grkids & 93yo mother-in-law. What a story I could write with that experience 😱.

@OwnedByACatNamedC.C.
@OwnedByACatNamedC.C. 2 года назад
A Cat 4 hurricane like Ida is more powerful than a Cat 3 like Katrina was, so strictly in terms of wind strength, Ida would be the more powerful storm of the two. There’s been just a few days since Hurricane Ida roared through, however. Search and rescue efforts are barely underway, so how many deaths and injuries there have been or are going to be, along with what the costs to repair all of the structural & infrastructure damages done will be can’t even be guessed at yet. With cell towers & electrical grids down in a widespread area, I expect it will take quite a while.

Exactly how far were you from the eye, and do you know of any locations that received the advertised 150mph sustained winds, not to mention the claimed 175+mph gusts.
@brutus_van_hammer7433
@brutus_van_hammer7433 2 года назад
The eye passed directly over us. True reports of wind actually came from Port Fourchon, which were way over 150mph. It was clocked on a ship ( Laney. Chouest) stationed in the port, of 194 knots/223mph at its peak. If you google map the distance from port and head North - the eye pretty much went directly over La HWY 1 - bringing damages to the parishes/towns along the way.

@RebelFred I would say to you he is already here. He promised that the world 🌎 would see him no more. I bet that makes me even more nutty and delusional than you originally thought. But like Paul said. The end will be full of scoffers much like yourself asking where is the promise of his return. Romans 1:20-22 (NIV) 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools Call me the nut 🥜 and you will be my scoffing fool. Stay safe. 2 Peter 3:3-4 (ESV) 3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”
