I've always wanted to live in Florida, not anymore. Couldn't imagine living in a place where a storm could destroy your whole area. Ill just enjoy the Pennsylvania snow.
This is the second time in TWO WEEKS. When Helene hit we were kind of lucky, no major damage for us personally in Pinellas County. Were without power for 2.5 days but I would settle for the same with this monster...
In 1960 was baptized by hurricane Donna in Miami.I sample many sites,from Kingston to Brownsville during hurricane season. May I commend you for your clear,concise coverage. Graphics,production values, and professional,congenial weatherman blows everybody else "out of the water!" Jacksonville was the safest and it got it hit, West Palm (where I am at) hadn't been hit in 50yrs, we got 3 in 2 yrs. No place is safe from these things in FL.
I have a friend who's lived in Tarpon Springs for 30 years and has only evacuated a few times, never receiving structural damage. This one has her very scared. All the best to you.

its moving very slow, the winds are not pushing it, which results in it getting stronger.. we have had storms stall in a location for a day before. its almost never a good thing
ripito, the storm grew up in a small town on the yucatan peninsula and spent it's early days just hanging out in the gulf , it plans to stay there for quite a while and consider it's options while it works together with other weather patterns in the area and keeps being the storm that it was meant to be .
The worst is that these are just theories. It can just stay big and never lose strength or don't go down much .. central Florida is going to get hit hard, and because of these assumptions, they are not going to expect it...

Yep. He's refused calls from both Biden and Harris. Additionally, Mike Johnson won't call Congress back to DC to vote on more disaster relief. Apparently, he thinks that creating negative optics around the two hurricanes is better for his team than looking out for people's lives and well-being.
