They had notice that a tropical storm was going to make landfall at about 12 mid day. Plus or minus 6 hours. What they got was a Cat 5, 12 hours early. Mid night. It advanced faster than was expected as well. Some lucky connected individuals got texts from friends like an hour before telling them it was a Cat 5. I've watched personal accounts of people staying in the big hotel towers, they say they received direction that the best place to ride it out was their room. Many stories of people riding it out in the bathroom specifically. I've seen a few separate accounts from people who survived in one of those hollowed out rooms in the big towers.

Guerrero is a poor state, on top of that it's had some serious problems recently because it's prime land for opioid poppies. It's not the state with the best infrastructure, including weather radars.

Rapid intensification especially of that magnitude is the hardest thing to forecast. They often get intensity wrong. That storm only had 24 hours before landfall. There’s no way they could have predicted that. It’s happened with a few hurricanes in the US as well. Not to quite that extent as Otis broke records for intensifying that fast.

For from now on five in one house will be divided; three against two, and two against three. In verses 51-53 He clearly expresses the DIVISION that would result from His coming. He did NOT come “to give peace on earth” (that will happen at His Second Coming when He comes as the “Prince of peace” to establish His kingdom here on earth-see Isaiah 9:6-7 and 32:1, 17-18). He came knowing full well that it would bring DIVISION, even into the home where natural ties would not prevent the unbeliever from venting his anger against those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. I will never forget meeting a woman who had just been saved and she was so excited to travel home to share the good news of Jesus Christ with her mother and father. She was sure that they would receive the gospel immediately and rejoice in their newfound Savior. We cautioned her that this “might not happen.” When we saw her a few days later she was depressed, for they not only rejected the gospel she presented to them, but they displayed real anger towards her and told her to never bring this subject up again.
