This is why Martinook is my favorite Canes player. He may not score alot but the man is so impactful on the ice in other ways and he never gives up. He made that happen all on his own by sheer grit and when he scores its almost always a big deal. He's proof that scoring the goals isn't always the most important job. And yes I understand you need to score to win, but scoring isn't primarily his role to play. I love this for him, he deserves it for how hard he works for it.
There were a lot of Canes players you described that fit that bill. Marty for sure deserves props, but also KK, Noesen, Drury, etc deserve props for being integral parts of the win without getting ‘meaningful’ points.
Before they gave Staal the C, I thought Martinook was next in line to get it after Justin Williams. I have always thought he was the beating heart of the team and deserved it. Eventually, the C will go to Aho and rightfully so. But in the meantime, I definitely thought there was a case to be made for Martinook having it.
First season watching hockey from the beginning and let me just say, my black ass has been missing TF out Hahahhaa this shit is amazing. Btw I’m going Oilers for the cup
I’m in a similar boat man like I knew the basics of hockey but I didn’t “get it” enough for it to be really interesting to me until the middle of last season so this is the first season I’ve watched straight through. And what a hell of a season it’s been!
I was there! And all I could think was I have to work tomorrow, I really can’t handle overtime tonight. But I didn’t say it out loud, so I didn’t temp the hockey gods! It all worked out 😂
Post-season in the house of Rod? It looks like Martinook somehow managed to cause the PNC Arena to levitate, and shifted the building about 2 1/2 feet to the east. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch this on repeat.
No. The rule was modified a couple of seasons ago to where you just have both skates fully across the blue line to be offsides if you are not re-entering the zone. The puck was past the blue line by the time both skates fully crossed
@@Stacey_-bf2mb If you go to Toronto and visit the hall of fame, there’s a room called the dynasty room. Look it up. Trust me when I tell you, I was there , the Carolina Hurricanes are NOT in there . I looked everywhere .
It’s hard to compare the two because goals in hockey are much more unpredictable than in basketball, and also much rarer, so they hold a lot more significance. Imagine being up by double digits late in the 4th quarter, then not only blowing the lead but going down by double digits. Now, imagine that happening in a matter of seconds (obviously that’s impossible, but that’s the kind of swing we’re dealing with here)
