The fabulous Judy Davis and one of her best scenes in the movie. Bitterly funny.

it's 2024, I'm working on my computer and suddenly I had the need to watch this scene ...doesn't get old 👏👏👏 Brilliant actress and brilliantly written by Woody Allen !

Judy Davis is one of a kind. I’ve always loved this performance from her - she injected a lot of humor and humanity into what could’ve been a one note ice queen caricature Sally feels like a real person and was a hoot to watch

"Oh of course it's Gail... you two like that sports bullshit!" Ha! Judy Davis is amazing. Rarely has a character been so bruising and acerbic. As brutally funny as she is, there's also an undercurrent of vulnerability and heartbreak in her performance that is absolutely astounding. This scene alone should have won her the Oscar that year.

I'd never seen her when I saw this in 1992. Just on the strength of this scene she instantly became one of my favorite actresses.

Have you ever seen her in “my brilliant career”… not the best movie but one knew instantly that the girl was extraordinary!

I saw Judy one afternoon maybe 4 yrs ago across from her house when I was taking a lone birthday walk. It was midweek. She was sitting in the sun with a straw hat on staring out onto the glistening water of the harbour. I wanted to say hello, say how much her performances, like this one, meant to me but I left her alone in the peace she was obvs enjoying. This is excellent all round. How tf she lost out to Marisa Tomei at the '93 Oscars is utterly baffling. This movie is in my top 5. I first saw it when it came out. There's been a lot of water under the bridge since then and A LOT of other films watched and loved but I come back to this and it is still by far one of the absolute best

THIS SCENE SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT HER THE OSCAR !! ❤

The Oscar should have gone to Judy Davis. Both her and Sydney Pollack are brilliant in this movie.

This almost 6 minutes alone should have been enough to earn her the Oscar. But then Jack Palance couldn't even get her nationality right

This is actually an extended version of the scene in "Husbands and Wives" where Sally (Judy Davis) goes on a date with someone she works with (Timothy Jerome). Both scenes still make me laugh.

I just rewatched the whole movie last night. Every moment from this scene was in the movie. Can you give an example of a particular line from this scene that you think didn't make it in?
@clarequilty4962
@clarequilty4962 Месяц назад
@@jsh31425 No, I'm afraid I seldom do that kind of studying for movies. Not anymore. I used to look forward to the next movie Woody Allen was going to make, but that stopped about 20 years ago. Except for maybe three or four films, his movies evaporate fast, they're so mild. Like a Seinfeld monologue.
@jsh31425

@@clarequilty4962 That's fair enough. I was just contesting your claim that this is an extended version of what's in the movie. I think it's exactly what's in the movie. :)
