I love how trusting Key is of you because, he knows that you will do anything to keep him happy and healthy and he is your furry best friend

Didn't take long for Key to resume his pillow beef and take his brace frustration out of his sworn enemy

Key cried "What a heckin disgrace! I'm being attacked by a brace! It's as bad as a cone and you better atone with a rub and a waff, just in case!"

Jodie, get some vet wrap and wrap the upper portion of the brace. That should help stop the brace from slipping dn to Key's foot. The metal splint pieces should sandwich Key's wrist top and bottom. My rottie had the same issue @ a decade ago, and that was how my vet built his splint and prevented it for sliding dn his leg. Good luck...

Have to tell Key the brace is named Balto. Balto is the most famous Husky hero dog in history ( even more famous than Key believe it or not)) It’s a hero brace suitable for a hero like Key 😉

I didn't see the brace's directions, but three thoughts: 1) Try putting the splits at the back of his Key's leg, instead of the front. Right now I think it's digging into his foot whenever he walks. 2) Maybe wrap a short piece of one of those sticky stretchy elastic wraps on his foot first, to give the brace something to grip. Key's fur it too slippery to make it stay in place when he moves. In the US those wraps are called Ace Bandages. I don't know the UK term for them. 3) If this brace seems to be a fail, you might just try wrapping his leg with a full Ace bandage. You could even wrap a splint into it, if needed. Since those bandages are stretchy, it won't be so uncomfortable on his foot. You just need to make sure you wrap it loosely enough to not cut off the circulation. The vet could show you how. It's so hard with animals, trying to help them physically, because they can't tell you what feels right. It's trial and error over sometime. Just keep going forward and the right results will happen. Good luck 👍

I think you should have your vet or hydro therapist if they are familiar with that brace just confirm proper placement. I am awaiting second specialist opinion on video of Key walking showing tendon support issue. I didn’t forget about you. Love you, marcy

The brace keeps sliding down. Maybe use a type of bandage wrap at top to help keep brace from sliding. It's going to take some getting use to for Key being such an active pup. Good job Jodie.

The brace looks adorable . Silicone strips added to the inside of the brace help keep it in place. My human patients have the same problem with braces at joints. Love your family and the way everyone cares for Key. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

The hard part goes on the back side of the leg/wrist and the 2 velcro straps wrap around the front of the leg. 'Balto' should be right side up.

Key trusts you 100% to do the right things for him, even if it's putting a weird brace on his leg. Of course He's going to complain about it. O hope He heals quickly and there's no long term aches and pains for him as someone roughly 9 dog years old, who retired from a very physically intense job, I never know what will be aching when I get up! A special shout out to your Nan for being another wonderful person to argue with K'eyush, the Key Boo, and Nan show is so wholesome!

Good job, Jodie, securing the brace on Key's leg. Good job being so patient and so sweet and kind to Key during this fitting. I do hope you find the right position for the brace and that Key is able to get used to it. He seemed to end up being able to walk with the brace reasonably quickly... It's got to be so tough for him, though he obviously trusts you so much, Jodie.

Did his vet recommend this brace? I only ask because I once wore a brace that was supposed to help my wrist, but learned months later, I was only supposed to use it when I was NOT working. Ended up doing more damage and taking longer to heal. Had I gone to the doctor in the first place, instead of trying to save money, it would have saved me a lot of additional pain. Best of luck!

You should take him to the vet. Get the dr's opinion and have them show you how to place the brace.

At 6:30, the brace is backwards. The solid part of the brace with the pad should be on the back of the leg, and the straps should be facing the front.

Hopefully the brace will help with Key's paw/ankle issue that he's been having. His antics out in the field and zooming in the house don't help the issue he's having.

Perhaps on longer walks, where he really needs it, you could incorporate a harness to hold the brace up.

Maybe you should try wrapping his leg with some Gauze to help the brace to stay in place

Key, sorry for laughing. I totally commiserate with you. Sometimes I have to wear compression braces on my thumbs and wrists due to past injuries and aging. Maybe a custom sewn-in, fully-opening, sports Lycra & Velcro sleeve, which exceeds the brace length at its top, just enough to slightly more than cover the elbow joint and anchor there, while leaving the elbow freedom of movement with the Lycra sleeve, could help keep the brace in place on the forearm-to-wrist area below. Be patient with Weirdo while she works this out for you. She's a very good mum, and the fact she's a dancer and multi-skilled artisan with tons of equipment and supplies to play with gives her a far better understanding of your situation and how to resolve it. You're beyond lucky to have her. Bright blessings. 💖

I had a husky many years ago that had a leg issue. My vet made him a fiberglass cast. Yeah within a day he removed it. Wasn't much more I could do. I hope this brace helps Key. ❤

You figured it out. His weak spot might strengthen if it does not bend backwards after wearing down on a long walk. You could mount it high, if the long hard support blocks the weak joint just enough to keep it from bending down and back.👍😉
