The Husqvarna 120i brushless chainsaw chain replacement problem has been solved! Using the correct chain is really important for safety reasons but it wasn't easy to find so I ended up learning a lot about how to buy the right chain for any chainsaw. Great information to know for the future.
Note that this is not a 'How To video' but instead a 'How I do it' video. I strongly urge you to do your own research on buying and replacing your Husqvarna 120i chainsaw blade.

Thanks so much for helping me in confirming that I have the correct chain for this chainsaw! I was having a heck of a time getting tension on the chain; thanks to your video, I quickly realized that the main nut cant' be too tight before tensioning, then tightened. Thanks a Million!

THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video! I've had mine for 2 years, and love it, but Ive had NO confidence to change my chain. Because of your thorough demonstration of changing the 120i, now I can do it! Getting my tension correct has been a bear. And your guidance on finding the right chain is Great. ... Thanks for sharing. I would like to suggest to the new users that we ALWAYS take off the battery, ALWAYS use gloves when dealing with the saw or the chain and preferably to clean the bar and the cup before putting it back.

Grubs are a great source of protein! I'm a huge fan of Husqvarna. My aunt and uncle bought me this saw for Christmas last year. I have the older 340 and 350 gas powered saws, which I love. To add to your information, I'm finding it confusing because according to the owners manual there's two models, Husqvarna considers, the H37 and H38. The only difference is the bar gauge. The H37 has a .050 gauge and the H38 has a .043 gauge. Luckily, I have my favorite Husqvarna dealer ten miles down the road from my camp. CJ Motorsports in Boonville, NY. They can gauge my stock bar. I used the saw for the first time to limb and buck some small to medium diameter balsam fir a couple weeks back for spring cleaning. I can't find any information on the bar, which is funny because they always have the gauge stamped on the bar. Whatever the difference, it still takes a 3/8 pinch chain, you're referring to. My 120i was manufactured in 2019, I few years newer than yours. I may have a .043 gauge bar? I'll take the saw the next time I go to the my dealer. I love the savE economy feature. Lowers the chain speed without compensating power! I was bucking 10 inch diameter logs with ease. I fell a 60 foot fir, limbed and bucked the logs, all on one charge with the third light flashing. I'm amazed, its such a nice battery powered saw.

I agree! That was my second ‘take’ because the first time (where I did take it out) didn’t record and I foolishly rushed through it because I was a little ticked off! Thanks for noticing and sharing that input though. Very much appreciated!!

Yeah, best bet in this situation is to hit the hardware store! Lol. If they screw it up and give you the wrong chain, they'll replace it at no cost to you. Good video, Kathie.

LOL. I looked it up and it is a giant beetle that find crawling around in the grass here in the summer. We had just never thought about how they begin their life!

My 120i battery operated chainsaw. The side cover will not screw off. Watched every video I could watch. The chain came off and the lift dial I’ve turned anti clockwise for half an hour still won’t come off. What am I doing wrong

I it’s a stihl chain. I actually state the size at 7 minutes and 47 seconds in. It’s 3/8 inch pitch, low profile mini, .050 guage, 52 drive links. There’s no part number. We just brought the old chain into the stihl dealer and they helped get the right one.
