MUCH easier this time with this saw. Figured some simple fast debug technics are worth a video....and a prelude to the "Ultimate Old Man Saw" or UOMS for short.
Great video. I picked up a 99 husky 261 today. Never had one before so I figured I'd look n see if anybody had a tinkering video. I'm a chainsaw carver out of Otter Lake NY
Nice video there Walt I , best saw build channel i see , i had a run issue with my 262 xp it was boggy and needed a lot of richening up so i knew there was an issue and it was almost the same thing ,the inlet block had deteriorated due to previous history with over tightening the screws( not by me ) and there was a communication with that and the pulse line channel , due to a stress crack , so i got another intake block and gaskets and now it runs like new :-)
Of course I'm hoping at some point those who watch enough of these video's take the plunge and start the learning process by building project saws or fixing their own..:)
That’s why I have a ten pack of Bpmr7a plugs sitting on the shelf in the shop. I also have a bunch of good relatively new plugs that I have pulled from various saws for various reasons that are good even though have been used for a while.
I really want to revive a dead Husqvarna saw. I’m interested in 200 and 300 series but there are none anywhere. Can you point me in the right direction Walt? Your videos are inspirational thank you sir!
What could be the cause of fuel spraying out of the carb and low power? I have this problem on stihl 044, saw has plenty of compression and new OEM carb. I took the cylinder off and rings are not worn, I just noticed a bit of wear on the lower part of the piston skirt on the intake side. The saw has a small intake boot air leak which I am trying to fix (I bought an aftermarket boot and now it's leaking between boot and carb). Could it be the air leak or the piston is the cooperate, or I should check something else?
I need the high and low needle valves for that carburetor HDA144 that’s on the 261/262. If you look closely you’ll see 262 on the base of the cylinder as well. Anyone have them they would sell?
afleetcommand, new subscriber, thanks for your channel.I'm looking for a new pro level saw for firewood, hardwoods in the northeast.I wouldn't be opposed to a two saw plan.Would you please make some recommendations?Thank you.
afleetcommandsir,thank you.If I may ask,why the 555/562xp and 390xp compared to something like a a 550xp and 372xp?Please understand sir,that I'm in know way questioning your recommendation,I just want to know why?
Short answers is with the right oil it works for me. Has for decades. But I really don't want to rehash this there are a bunch of excellent threads several years ago on arboristsite.com
