My 3120 has a muffler mod (very needed mod), the unlimited coil, it makes such a difference in the saw. Right now it is in the shop getting the high jet drilled out. Maybe I'll edit this comment after I get it back. I'm not making a race saw just a work saw. But the 3120 is a beast on a leash stock.
I really like how mine turned out, minus the limited coil. That makes it almost not runnable in normal size wood. I’ll get a 272 coil on it eventually and give it another go. Sounds like you made all the right moves on yours!
Yeah as a kid I always wondered why Dad spent so much time working on his firewood. Fast-forward 30 years and I def get it now. I've tried to explain it to my boy as I'm working on my firewood but just get that 10 mile stare. I just hope I'm around in 30 years to see him getting his man time on.... 😉
That’s for sure. I used to have to pick up square bales as a kid. Swore I’d never do it when I got older. Then I go and get a hay field. There is a point in life where priorities completely change
@@Man-Time Yep, same here -- as a kid we heated our house with 2 wood stoves and I swore I'd never have wood heat in the house I bought. Well sure enough I buy a house that has wood as a secondary source of heat. But I think the best part of it all is I'm using the same Husqvarna 61 that Dad bought new in 1984 to buck up my fire wood and I'm smiling the whole time I'm running it....
That's a different sounding exhaust for sure. Good job on getting it running with modified parts. Jonsered/Husqvarna has a lot of interchangeability between them.
I'm waiting on an OEM coil for a 1996 3120. With all the numbering systems out there, I am praying that this works. If I understand you correctly, you have to get the matched coil and flywheel in order to have the 11k RPM limiter. If you only get the coil without upgrading/updating the flywheel, you get the 9,800 RPM limiter. Is that accurate? I don't need a speed demon, just a solid saw. Thanks for the video!
It’s more complicated than that even. The pre 2001 stuff won’t work with the post 2001 stuff. If you found a pre 2000 coil it should work if it looks the same and it has the higher rpm. I couldn’t find one. You’ll need the post 2001 flywheel most likely. Then you can get a 272 coil that’s unlimited if you want to go that route
@Man-Time I'll see how it goes. I ordered one for a 1996 model. I'm not worried about getting high RPMs out of it, just need it to run well. I'm fixing and selling the saw, so I'm trying to keep from putting too much into it. If I was keeping it, it would be a different story.
man that saw has alot of tork id might even try a 8 tooth sprocket lol it would probly give you more chain speed little less tork might keep ya off the limiter more and there like 5 dollars i think orderd
