I got sick of my 435 leaving a pool of oil so I took it apart and figured it out the problem for myself... I tried to seal it with Gray RTV but it just wouldn't cure. Still leaked after it sat overnight. Found your video and tried some super glue. Worked like a charm. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!!!

Got a deal on a Husqvarna 440 at Northern Tool. It ran great but I found out later that it leaked bar oil like crazy! Went on RU-vid to find a fix and there you were. I ordered the part(old oiler hose had a split in the cone-shaped seal) and when it came in I knew just what to do. Pretty easy fix. No more leaky saw. Thanks!!

Thanks, probably exactly what's wrong with my 435. Haven't considered the idea that the leak is behind that plate, but rather assumed that the problem was where the oil is transferred to the sword/blade/arm/bar (don't know what it's called in English). Noticed that the rubber slott where the oil comes out is alarmingly close to the hole in the bar that is intended to push the bar forward when the chain is tensioned (the upper hole in particular does not press, but is still there so that the bar can be mounted upside down) Will try your solution (hope I succeed in hammering away that drum) but don't know which glue to use. You talk about "super glue" as some winged expression but don't think it is so obvious here in Sweden. Is it meant to be glued or is it usually just held by pressure/friction and only glued if leakage is found?
@TheGreasyShopRag
@TheGreasyShopRag Год назад
"Super glue" is a Cyanoacrylate based adhesive. The part is not meant to be glued but the trick was unofficially told to me by a tech from a large Swedish chainsaw manufacturer.

What do you do if its leaking from the screen filter in the bottom of the case? Sealer gasket and a new one? Or would super glue work on that too?
@TheGreasyShopRag
@TheGreasyShopRag 2 года назад
It would be difficult to remove that filter if it were super glued in so I use silicone gasket sealer.

Not all of them leak and it still is under warranty. Make sure its registered and see what happens.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking about removing the clutch?
@ababner317
@ababner317 2 года назад
Husqvarna chainsaw bar bolt loose and leaking oil. The actual stud fell into the oil crank case. Not sure what was holding it there except for friction. The bolt was just rattling around in the saw. Not sure hot to make sure it does not loosen up again and fall out.
@TheGreasyShopRag
@TheGreasyShopRag 2 года назад
If you're satisfied with the threads and are ok using the same studs then they can be reinstalled with sealant on the stud shank. If they fit loose then you need to fatten up the stud shanks. This can be done by striking a series of chisel indentations in them. Hitting them with a chisel does make them smaller where the chisel was but raises the edges of the impact point making the diameter bigger. Thats the best explanation I have and I'll make a video next time it comes up.
@ababner317
@ababner317 2 года назад
@@TheGreasyShopRag You said use a sealant. Should I spray the oiler tank down with brake cleaner to remove the oil on it first? Also, what kind of sealant would you recommend? Finally thank you for your time.
@TheGreasyShopRag
@TheGreasyShopRag 2 года назад
@@ababner317 Yes clean the tank. Mainly just where the sealant will be. I like to use Dirko silicone sealant but a lot of other similar products will work.
@ababner317
@ababner317 2 года назад
This is for the Husqvarna 435 not the two studs with a splines but the one stud that sticks out. It got loose and oil was leaking around it. One day it just fell inside the saw's oiler tank.
@TheGreasyShopRag
@TheGreasyShopRag 2 года назад
@@ababner317 I've never had to repair that stud so I'm not sure. I would think theres a way to perform the repair using standard practices or even tapping a new stud in there. Sorry, I can't be more help.

I bought that tool and used an impact wrench. The adaptor tool broke and the clutch still didn't come off. Any ideas on why it is so tight? Can I break the saw applying that much force to unscrew it?
@TheGreasyShopRag

The threads are backwards on a clutch. Turn it clockwise to loosen.

I don't have the part number in front of me (maybe 502 51 27‑01) but its called "Husqvarna Multi Purpose grease". It doesn't come in the small tubes as seen in the video. Those were samples that came in owners packets. The new tubes are bigger.

How do you get the clutch off so easily without using a piston stop?
@TheGreasyShopRag

The impact does all the work, I just squeeze the trigger. Once in a while I have to stuff a rope in the cylinder and use a breaker bar to get it loose.

You have to hear it - Husqvarna made it even worse in latest models... I just bought 445 Mark II made in 2022 (the ones with grey clutch cover), and that square rubber end doesn't even have that protruding part that goes inside the oil hole in the case - now it's just touching against flat surface around the oil hole. It leaked right after I filled with oil first time... Unbelievable... It's like Husqvarna made it worse on purpose... I hope the super glue helps...
