*Coming up on having had this saw for a year....am a casual user and bought it to cut up sections for bowl blanks. Easy to start, **Bestfor.Garden** also recommend even after storage for a couple of months. Simple chain tension adjustment. Just cut up some 20" Osage Orange, including ripping bolts in half (at an angle). Like butter!*
My 455 was an excelle t reliable light weight chainsaw that I had for three years until it grew legs! You don't realize how much you love your truck, your dog and your chainsaw until they are gone !
+hayden ingram I had 3 good years with a 455. Bud has it now. In that size range, do check out the PS-6100 Dolmar, 61 cc of screaming (10K peak power) pro-quality badass, about same price as 460 Husqy, handles 24" nicely. For $400, look at the 59 cc Echo, designed by Shindaiwa. Stihl's not even in the picture.
Great saw. I recently got the 460 rancher and put an 18" Oregon bar/chain on it. I think I get a little more bang for the buck that way. I live on 5 heavily wooded acres and can't really come up with a reason I would need a 24" bar. Maybe if I was trying to take down a huge oak?? Not to be mean, but I think the fella who published this video would benefit from watching a couple of chainsaw technique videos.
I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle ru-vid.comUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.
Im changing my stihl for a husqvarna because je engine turns faster and the saw is stronger than a stihl if you want a good saw take the 460 because pro saws like the 555 autotune need more maintenance. Good video love the saw
You prolly dont give a shit but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. I've been watching with my girlfriend for the last few weeks =)
Stihls are the king of sales.I gave away 3 of them this year. All of them failed me.2 ms180s and a ms 250 I still have my MS 192 but it will only run for 10 minutes. They have an intake boot that rots and the saw quits when it gets warm.My 21 year old echo trim saw starts right up and keeps running. As far as power the stihl trim saw has more if it would stay running. The only reason I didnt give it away was the 550 dollars it cost.So I guess Ill fix it.My Husqvarna 445 starts right up.6 years old.My next saw will be a dolmar/makita.
brian I liked your demonstration of the Husqvarna 460 24" bar I think I will purchase me one,im looking at one on ebay for $459 new, just like the one you have 24" bar too listed as new,i think i have found my next saw
pull that screen out of that muffler and it will run way better, if its legal for you, if u care hahaha i get more fires with hot mufflers than actual exhaust, i use to lol. actually never had a fire. ive had glowing tree bark
I like my 460. Only complaint I have is that the line from The oil tank to the oiler tank leaks and marks its territory. I found a fix online however I just lay the saw on its side with the oil cap facing down and it doesn’t leak.
To everyone who mentioned that I was standing too far away when cutting, I appreciate the feedback. Part of the learning curve. I have since made adjustments to be closer and maintain better posture. Definitely easier on the back!
Nice video. Seems like you are reaching too far and that will kill your back. Step up and you'll have better balance and control. Also, recommend you engage the chain brake whenever not cutting and when walking around with your saw.
I've had my 460 for 3 years and still runs good. I put a 16in bar and chain just to see how it handles. The saw act's like a chop saw quick and fast but, it was too small I burnt up the bar.
It is I run a 18 and 20 in bar and chain comb , but I still have the 24 in that it came with. The 24 in that I run I use a skip chain less on the engine. Still runs good.

I gotta be honest, every time you reached oboe your mid chest with that overly long bar and sort of threw the saw at the wood i cringed. Get a shorter bar, and limb the tree from the stump end upwards until you don't need to reach as much. Even if you never experience a kickback incident you'll kill your back and arms the way you're going about the task in this video. This is coming from a guy who's been at this for 50 years.
#2- and husky replace oil pump twice and it got worse.bar oil pump is an issue with husky as for the fuel cap and oil cap leaking as well-replaced twice in a year.460 is a bad weak saw with a 24 inch bar.ms311 will eat a hickory tree up.30 inch dia. at that.till you run a bigger stihl, you don't know what your missing on power in a saw.im not downing husky just my personal experience.plactic saw inst my thing for sure after owning one-STIHL #1 PERIOD in my book and experience. take care friend..
The 460 and the MS311 are both plastic, clam shell construction ranch/farm saws and are both good. The 311 is a bit newer design so is slightly more efficient and both will cut broadly the same if tuned properly. The real standout in this price range is the echo CS-590. It's got an aluminum/mag hull with a bolted on cylinder. This is more of a pro saw at farm/ranch pricing. The only real disadvantage to the echo is less places will stock parts for it.
With a bar of 16 making the cuts in less than a third of the time, I see no reason for such large bars. I am professional in Portugal and I use 18 bars on my two 372xp x torp
He doesn't need to pull the screen out he needs to go back to a 20" bar that 24" bar is going to rob a lot of your power, the saw is not big enough to pull a 24" bar all day or otherwise
stihl is a better saw.i bought a husky 460 and it stayed in the shop more than in the woods.i bought a stihl ms311 and its has twice the power of the 460.and its never been in the shop.460 husky has plastic oil pump for bar-BAD choice on huskys part.stihl is all metal.stihl is superior saw.when that pup starts going bad and it gets out from under warranty youll wish youd bought a stihl..husky I had set and poured oil from under bar all time,i was told that was normal by a husky dealer LMAO..
