I had mine for nine years. Bought it from Lowes in 2013. Still running strong. Starts on first pull and my back yard is on a hill. Perfect for my yard. Only thing I can say as a mechanic is to keep up with the maintenance and change the blades often. I mulch and I bag, works well for me.
This thing is a beast. I bought a practically new one for 175 and I tested it on a deep creek that we have on our property. All I can say is that it goes up practically vertical ground (not recommended of course).
Had a leaf problem around the sidewalk that had piled up over the last year. I brainstormed for a bit then put out my hide arms awd and showed em who’s boss
Yall snapper still makes the best small walk behind on the planet, your gonna pay for it though. I run a lawn biz in SE Texas we mow year round, I've run em all, and the snapper is gonna be there. They are made so you can still work on em, exactly like they were made 40 yrs ago, all parts interchangeable. They have a semi new department store series, it's junk, but at the price point everybody likes. The thing to look for is the hi vac deck, that's the good one....Roost
LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING. I just bought an L 221AHK and it has the Kohler 7.5 , 173 cc. Never had a mower his nice. And I am a gardener. My snapper e series is nice but I paid a lot of money to put a new carb on it and it lasted 3 months with the Briggs 7 horse intek. My third mower, which used to be my number one, is a Scott's. With a 6.5 horsepower Tecumseh engineI love it because it has a huge bag and the motor runs smooth as glass but now it's having drive problems so when you have your number one and number two mowerbeing finicky you have to make a decision and my decision was the L 221ahk from Husqvarna. Now it has the biggest motor of all my mowers and I wouldn't trade it for my grandma's arm. All-wheel drive means four wheel drive. this one has auto shift which means it senses the resistance and switches from two to four wheel drive automatically and I love the variable speed self-propel.
I have the exact same model and I can tell you it is JUNK!!! The Honda auto start is junk, the valve train in it is JUNK, the blade slips constantly before breaking off. I have a 1999 Murry push mower with a 5hp quantum engine, and two troy built riders and they all still outperform this one in every way. I rebuild/work on lawnmowers mostly for enjoyment (I'm a mechanic) of all the ones I've ever worked on, this is the worst one. This mower will clog with grass under the deck and clump out from underneath. I have NEVER had this much trouble with a mower. I know I sound mad but i'm not, I can fix anything with an engine but I know most people can't, that's why I am writing this, to steer you away from this mower. PLEASE READ ANY REVIEWS YOU CAN FIND ON THIS ONE!!!!!!
Nice mower. How do you like the AWD vs 2WD? I've never done anything with a piece of equipment that has reached it's life cycle other than sell use for parts.
I don't like it. The plastic side-discharge adapter is garbage. It falls off. Also the rear door closes in non-bag mode but it doesn't fill the rear-discharge chute under the mower so can collect grass and clog the mower. Also the rear hatch can jam into the earth if you are trying to mow over the edge of something like the edge of a ditch or drop-off. Also the belt can clog with grass clippings.
This is a piece of crap mower I have the same one, yeah it's ok for a year or two but then the drive system go's to shit, my last mower I had was a Honda hrx it lasted me 16 years with no issues until it started burning oil and that was a screw up on my part, I wouldn't recommend husqvarna to anyone even if it has a Honda motor on it.
Update about my POS Husqvarna AWD mower, after replacing my drive belt four times and the three plastic pulleys twice on my own dime i finally got some of my money back from Husqvarna because the POS mower was still under warranty, luckily my local authorized Husqvarna repair shop stepped in to help me out because I bought all the parts from them, its still under warranty and the plastic pulleys have once again locked up and the belt has eaten half way through the pulleys but its honestly more of a hassle then its worth, im just going back to another Honda, in the 16 years I owned the Honda I never had any drive issues or wheels crack nothing it just worked until I ran it low on oil.
If I had to grade your review from 1 to 10 it would be a 5 . This review was annoying and was on a fifth grade level . Wasn't informative enough about this product .
