Mine is knocking as well. I’ve had it just over 5 yrs. It works but it’s noisy and shaky. Just spent $600 on it but when I got it back it was knocking. My mechanic neighbor did the work cuz it’s out of warranty and he had it 2 months and I just used it twice since then. I hate it.
Three most common knocks for those Intek Briggs motors are 1. Loose mounting bolts to the frame. 2. Connecting rod to crank play. 3. Those counterweight rods. Most engines I took apart were those counterweight rods. As far as those flywheel magnets, you hear a funny noise on shutdown. You won't hear any knocking when it's running. Clean off the old glue real good on the flywheel and magnet and epoxy them back in.
Good info! This was my first with the counterweight issue. All the newer Briggs 2016 and up seem to have bad flywheel magnet glue. I got one where the flywheel magnets actually kept the engine from turning because they did not separate cleanly.
@@EllisMowersandmore all these motors are worse than they used to be. Hit and miss on most of them lately. Even the Kawi's are terrible. Let's not even talk about that Chinese junk MTD 4P90MUC ENGINE.
Exactly where you described where the rod is. I had blades Engadged and slight rattle then within 10 seconds knock on me today. So it's locked up. After seeing this I screwed. It's the same husq too....
I've got a brand new engine off a 2019 Deere E100, a Briggs 500cc 17.5 HP, here that the cam is bad and it doesn't move the valves, either of them. 17 hours on it. It's in the shed in case I need a good new engine for my D110 since I'm sure a cam or cam gear on the crank will fix it.
That's very strange thing to be happing with this engine 😡 I had changed the blades on my John Deere LT 133 it was very interesting to say the least . Glad you had another engine in your shop to replace the messed up engine of you want to go check out my channel to see the video on this matter
I got the same engine on craftsman and in knocks when I put it in gear sounds fine with no load.what would cause that it ran fine last time.l let sit about 6 months now it's knocking
If it's only knocking under load the engine may be okay, just a little stressed for some reason. I've had newer Briggs do that too. It could be the movement and vibration of the drive system getting into the engine a little. Just keep an eye out to make sure the oil isn't turning gray and the problem doesn't get worse.
