Bought my first chainsaw, a Husqvarna 360 almost twenty years ago as a freshman in high school. It’s seen plenty of use and still runs like a champ. A couple years ago I picked up a used 375. Did a tuneup on it and it runs like a champ as well. Just picked up a 460 with 20” bar. Thinking I should pick up the 24” bar. Can’t wait to put it to use.

I have owned a Husqvarna 460 for the past 3 years and I love it! I started out with a Homelite chainsaw and I think highly of Homelite! I also had a Ryobi which was a piece of crap and I gave it away. About 3 months ago I purchased a Stihl arborist chainsaw. Husqvarna and Stihl are the only chainsaws that I will use. A friend of mine is a small engine mechanic and he informed me that as a mechanic Husqvarna is easier to work on than the Stihl chainsaw. Great information and thanks for sharing!

I bought this saw and I bought a 20" Husqvarna bar and chain for smaller trees. This is a great chainsaw.

Love my 460. Only issue is it leaks oil. Chainsaw guy shows how to fix oil leaks. Thank you for posting. And yes. Power box won’t protect from rain.

I own that same saw with the 24" bar, and I will say that in my experience with it, you can cut for many running hours without any problems. I have had no issues with it on the family farm cutting firewood, and Logging work.

I've owned mine for 4 yrs and I absolutely love mine.

I bought a 455 Rancher from Lowe's on a weekend in winter '03-'04 for $400 with very little expectations after both my saws were stolen. Just needed to get thru a few months to save up for a new Stihl. The Husqvarna 455 is so good that I never had to buy a Stihl and still use that same saw today in 2021. It's never needed any major repairs and has literally hundreds of hours felling, limbing and bucking about 50 cord a year to burn, mill and sell. The 460 is essentially the same saw. It is/will be great for years to come.

I love my 460 rancher. I got mine in 2014 for a midrange saw to go with my lite saw stihl 110 AVT. To clean up trails on the property. Rarely do I get a chance to use my 372xp husqvarna or my 666 stihl. Just to big for most of my jobs. But I got them for when I need a bigger saw... I liked the video you made. But next time, give your saw a little warm-up period before going full throttle. Give your rings a chance to expand and the oil in the fuel a head start on what's to come. I also got a kick out of watching you fill your right boot up with man glitter. 😳 Pants over the boots is preferred. LoL, thanks for the share. Catch up with you on the next one.

I have to admit the canned fuel is worth it. For one thing you don't have to mix it but it also lasts a long time on the shelf and doesn't gum up your saw. I'm lazy and don't drain the tank in between uses (which can be over a year apart) and my Husqvarna 235 still runs fine.

When you started the saw up I noticed something. You have the chain a little bit tight. You may want to loosen it just a smidge. You want it so if you pinch the chain and pull up on it when it's on the bar that it gives a little bit. But it sounded to as if you had it a little bit to tight. That will result in premature wear for the bar and chain. But other than that the saw sounds good and started right up without any trouble.

Yanasa Ama Ranch, thanks for this video. I understand things aren't made like they were back in the day and every company sells things that need more work on them than others. Run them while under warranty to see if it needs work done. Run them as that's what they're designed to do. Be safe everyone.

I've had the Husky 460 for about 10 years now, it's a great saw. You can upgrade to the X-Cut chain to get the best performance. To compliment this saw you might consider the Stihl 194t, it's a $350 pro saw that's only 7 pounds and is great for the small stuff. You really don't want to use the 460 for limbing, it will wear you out.

I'm posting on 7/18/21, so I'm a little late to this party. But I'm responding to this video anyway because I just bought at 460...before watching the video, and now after watching the video and having used my saw for just a couple of hours I can tell you that the video is SPOT ON. If you're considering getting a 460, do it! I've used a 14" electric saw for 'yard work' for 20 years. But recently had a large maple tree in my yard cut down for me. I didn't want to just burn it up in the fire place. So I had the guy leave about a 12 foot section of the trunk, and 5 or 6 big pieces of the canopy on the ground so that I could chainsaw mill them...not even having a suitable saw to do that with. Now that I've got the saw I'm confident that this will be an enjoyable project/experience.

I had used a poulan saw for firewood for a while but it really sucked so my friend gave my his super old husky 350, like 20-25 years old. All its ever had is a new coil and some new plastic pieces. Thing runs super good with a 16 inch bar. Im debating getting a bigger saw tho. Maybe a 455 rancher.

I just bought a new Stihl 194t. In the manual it says to take it easy for the first 5-10 tank fulls and to not rev it up that much, need to break it in, not sure you should be cutting big logs like that with a new saw? Maybe start with some light limbing. They say you'll get max power after 10-15 gas tank fulls of gas, pretty interesting... I've also seen on other chainsaw repair videos that say you can damage your piston if you rev it up really high without warming it up for at least 30 seconds. I always start my saw and set it on the ground running at idle while I get my logs ready, lets it warm up a bit and I'm not standing around waiting for it to warm up.

Yesterday I watched my buddy take about a full minute to go through 10" diameter oak with his Homelite wood burning tool, then I went down to Tractor Supply and bought a 460. I just watched you go through about 12"-13" in 10 seconds, I hope that's *our story too,* later today - don't want to be cutting when the sun isn't up yet!

I find it handy to put 1 of those oil dry absorbant mats in bottom of powerbox to absorb the bar oil.

I have a Husqvarna 41 small homeowner saw that I bought new in 1994. My parents heated with wood and that saw has cut countless cords of wood. That saw still is use today and in 26 years I've only replaced the chain oil pump and replaced the chain brake when the band wore too thin. I am also using a 1965 Homelite C51but not much because it is too heavy and lacks ANY safety feature. Yesterday I was cutting wood for a neighbor in need and trying to use my 2 year old Stilh 290. My little Husky 41 cut 3 times the wood at the end of the morning. The Stihl needed constant fiddling with and was soooo hard to start. When we left the woods I loaded my 3 saws in the truck and drove straight to the Farmers Co-op where they sell both Stihl and Husky products. I walked in, bought a Husqvarna 460 and sold the Stihl to a man in the parking lot for $150. I will never again own another Stihl product. When it runs and you can keep it cutting it cuts like a maniac. But I know how they got the name; "While everyone else is cutting wood, you're Stihl trying to get yours running." Looking forward to lots of wood cutting with my 460. If all else fails I'll get the little 41 and keep up with the rest of the crowd. Great products from Husqvarna!!!!!!

I’m pulling the trigger on one today. The 24” bars are sold out so I’m stuck with a 20” but that’s still 4” bigger than my other saws. Great video and helped me make my mind up. How’s she going after 2 years?

The saw looks great but my advise is always wear hearing protection once your hearing is gone it’s gone forever

This applies to all small petrol powered engines. Lawn mowers weed eaters, chainsaws. Due to Eco friendly BS, the fact that they have replaced lead in fuel with a chemical substitute. If left for long periods of time the chemicals sediment. During the summer months heat turns this sediment into a resin. Blocking the carburettor. A decent fuel stabiliser additive should clear it. If you are not using your saw, mower etc for long periods of time. Empty the tank (on a mower close the tap from the tank) & run the engine until the carb is dry. 2 -3 years later fresh tank of fuel ... starts like new. Works for me The longest I had a Retired saw (Husky 55) sit then start was 3 years 4 months. Only reason I started it was to see if old faithful would start & it did. The GF thought it was awesome after sitting around for so long, then GF wanted to learn how to use one. She bought it off me. She recently bought a 455 Rancher & loves them both. I have 3 others 1970s Husky 61, 576 XP & a 350 for limbing. Decades of service with out a hitch. Except they chew through chains & bars, & they won’t load the wood onto my pick up. 😂

Never full throttle a new chainsaw, break in period. Also, always let it warm up before using.

I bought one because of the ease of starting it's nowhere near the Husqvarna 266 SE Pro but it is a good saw that is also easy to start.

55c or 60cc farmer and rancher saws stand up to hard days if you keep them clean etc....I used my ms291 hard for six years, and often I leave my bigger pro saw home and use that.

Pondering between this or 562xp. My current large saw is 450 Rancher. Have a lot of trees to cut down from ash borer.

Bought my Sthil Farm Boss in 1973 and its still cutting fire wood for me. 2 bars and many blades replaced. Got my moneys worth!

GOD bless you guys and your successes with the Huskie 460. I bought mine new seven years ago and have ran it maybe 30 minutes total. Two repair shops in the area know me well. During the warranty and after. It has been a nightmare. don't bother to unbox don't buy.

I still use very fine lead fillings soak in neat petrol until the fuel turns black add about 5 mls 0:01 to 40 to one mix never had a saw sieze due to the lead aditive lining and cooling the barrel and piston .

At least you changed them before cutting. If you're going to be an influencer, might es well be a good influence. Safety equipment ought to be every time, not just when it's convenient.

I have always used Husqvarna I have the 440E the 545 Mark II 50cc that thing is a beast and the 365/71 cc x torque and that thing I have not found anything it will not cut

Use 93 at the pump and the saw will run cooler , been doing that for years.

I had a blown up 455 Rancher that I rebuilt as a 460 Rancher. The cylinders are the same so it was really easy. They are great saws! I definitely recommend the 20 inch bar over the 24 inch. I'll save the 24 and 36 inch bars for my 395 XP.

I have this 460 saw with both the 20" & 24" bar, the power band of this saw works much better with the 20" bar/chain.

Poulan saws are made by Husqvarna if you didn't know that. Even says on their site that they are made by Husqvarna. I live in the Pacific northwest and am going to buy the 460 rancher though. I like Husqvarna over other brands. No idea why, I just like them better then other brands.

19:49 The point of the primer bulb is to get gas in the carburetor so that you don't have to pull the starter more than a couple of times. You're going to flood it doing that.

Husqvarna is a good brand I'll give you that but as for the poulan pro 50 cc you shouldn't badmouth it cause I personally know several people as at least 30 to 40 people who use those and they hold their own including my dad when he was still living used poulan pro only thing he had to do to them was sharpen chains or get new ones mabey change a spark plug so everyone has their own taste of chainsaws and what best works for them and their cutting conditions and the wood to be cut thanks.

Did you ever consider the Echo CS590 Timberwolf or even better the CS620P(W)? Both have more HP than this chainsaw and the Timberwolf is 120 dollars cheaper with a much better warranty.

You definitely shouldn't run a new saw wide open like this (20:58.....) if you want it to last. There is a propper break-in procedure one should follow.

On a new saw you should only run WOT when it's buried in wood for the first few tanks. It needs a load for proper break In. I've had mine since 2013. It's a good saw. I've had oiler issues I had to repair though.

Walmart SEF brand and Truefuel and Stihl motomix have the same ingredients they all have no ethonal and protect your motor and carb and fuel lines

i am 57 years old and have always run this brand saw, i have one i bought in mid 1990 and has cut over 100 cords back then they only had there mix oil, and that saw to date runs great, in 2012 i bought Husqvarna Rancher 460 chainsaw i used it for about an hour with there mix gas and it sat for 3 years, i used it for about another 3 hours with there fuel and it stopped working, well it was out of warranty with 4 hours on it, and the shop said it is not worth fixing as they are a throw away saw, huum a $699 cnd saw a throw away, and only a few hours on it, well it sits in my shed as seem it blow the seals on it, and looks like the whole saw has to come a part, so being all my life i have only ever used this brand, i be leave they have gone down hill big time, as i have had over 8 of there saws and never been a problem until this last peace of junk they would not go good for, oh one other thing, i bought it in 2012 but the date of mfg was 2010 so being Husqvarna dealer wouldnt go good for it, i had it with them and went to another brand after 50 years

I buy the Home Depot No ethanol gasoline. It's great quality

If you start a 460 rancher and operate it with no mention or thought of hearing protection it might not be the saw for you.

If that chainsaw is as old as it looks It might need leaded fuel.

With a brand new chainsaw you should never go that hard just holding the gas down and you got to break them in I have seen people destroy the piston by doing that with a cold chainsaw
